Drop D Tuning! Hey everyone! I really enjoyed Foo Fighters performance on David Letterman so the video is based on that. I'm still working on your requests. They are tough so it's taking me a bit.
The first strum at the beginning of the 3rd measure there's an extra accent on the 9-11 that I heard in the recording. Every other time the pattern is consistent throughout. For the verse sometimes Dave plays with just down picking as I do. Other time, he just strums up and down as he's singing.
First chord, 9th measure I hear like a 4th fret E string (which is technically D string cause it's in Drop D) in the studio take. But live, Chris plays it like in my tab. Maybe the 4th fret is an overdub, which sounds cool also. Or maybe they didn't do it at all and it's imaginary, like in my head. lol. Does anybody else hear that though?
And in the bridge part Measure 130, that part is a little lower and softer in the original mix but more apparent in the live version. Which is how I would approach it as well if I were to perform this song.
Fun tune. Perhaps on the easier end of course! Is it a much needed tab? Probably not because there are many accurate tabs out there. Did any of you request it? No lol. BUT, maybe there's somebody out there that will pick this up in their recommendations and be like "Hey, I always wanted to learn this song but never thought to search it up!" And that's the goal here!
Enjoy guys!
Great job, well done thanks
Haven't put attention to that overdub that you say, I'll check it out. A tab for the pretender could be great. Nice guitar by the way
@@ulisessolis3182 Hey! Yes check it out and see if you hear it for sure. The Pretender is on my page if you'd like to check it out as well!
@@johnsalaman503 Thank you!
Amazing again! What about Wish you were here from Pink Floyd? Many people play that tune wrong?
Dude, this is the closest to the original as it can get on CZcams up to now. I have tried several other videos but none of them is as close as yours. This means the world to me man, thank you!
czcams.com/video/UNM7ZNQTNoA/video.html i think this is even closer, but this dude is asome anyway
I'm 52, been playing 2 months....practicing 1-2 hours a day doing chords and am slowly trying tabs (something from nothing which is very easy). How long before I nail this? Will I nail this or are my joints now too slow? Really enjoying playing. After 2 years as an 8 year old on a rightie, I'm now on a leftie fender and loving it.
I learned this song a year ago at about 3 months when I was 13. The chords are relatively easy, all that is truly difficult is the picking
As a guitar teacher, I'll give you the following advice:
•Don't ask yourself questions like "how long before I can play such and such" or "are my joints too slow" or "am I too old" (FYI, Dave Grohl is a year older than you are!)
Focus on learning properly, without rushing.
• Use easy songs (even boring ones) to establish technique first, before you rush into learning songs that you simply aren't ready for. People who rush into learning songs usually end up playing sloppy, and each time they find a new song they want to learn, the process ends up being slow and arduous.
• Use this song, and songs like it, as something to aim for, but in the meantime, try to realize that your improvements will be less obvious to you than they would be to someone who doesn't hear you practice each day.
• Make your practice sessions *focused*. 10 minutes of intense focus is better than an hour of noodling and switching between various exercises. That "10,000 hours to master a skill" actually means 10,000 hours of focused practice, which in reality means an overall count of closer to 30,000 hours I'd estimate!
• Try focusing on a particular technique during each practice session, even if your instinct is to try to fit a bunch of stuff into the session.
• Use a metronome or drum machine (can find on google) and keep a notebook with a daily log of what tempo you reached.
- If you can play an exercise/riff/etc ten times without a mistake, then the tempo is probably too slow to be beneficial (although there are times when you should practice slowly on purpose, such as when you want to focus on developing control over your movements).
- Conversely, if the tempo is so fast that you make a mistake more than 3 out of 10 times, then it's too fast. Choose a tempo that is challenging but not so fast that you need to play it sloppily. If you do that, you're basically teaching your hands how to play sloppily. Slow is always, ALWAYS better than too fast. Everybody wants to play fast, but only a select few reach that point, because most do not have patience. But you? You can choose right here and now to have patience. Forget about age, forget about rushing. You have lots of time. You could be bette than Dave Grohl in a few years. He spends most of his time touring and songwriting, not practicing technique ;)
But unlike him, you have those 1-2 hours a day to practice technique.
One you get to a reasonable skill level, I highly recommend the following books:
1. Ross Bolton Funk Rhythm Guitar (you can also find the pdf, and I believe the video is on youtube still). Even if you don't like funk guitar, this book will make you a phenomenal rhythm guitar player. You'll need to be able to count 16th notes (1 e & a, 2 e & a, etc).
2. Frank Gambale's "Chop Builder". There's a video on youtube. It's kind of a parody of those 80s exercise videos, but the exercises cover pretty much every guitar technique you'll ever need.
Good luck!
@@nathanmantle7128 as someone who started learning a week ago and who’s beating themselves up for not being able to play this song already (it’s stupid ik), this advice is pure gold, thank you for sharing it❤️
@@riverjeager8577 ??? if you think nobody asked the keep scrolling. nobody wants your opinion. it makes no sense.
@@riverjeager8577stfu
It's amazing how you make those quality lessons/tabs every week. Thank you, and keep it up!
Rest In Peace Taylor Hawkins. ❤️
God will save him.

Wow! I m playing this song with my band and I was searching a good tab thank you so much now I can practice! ( can you play black Betty from ramjam next time please)
IKR I would LOVE to learn that or at the very least some cool phrases I can use or mess with, like that pick tapping thing the singer does.
Man Black Betty is an awesome request. I will do it at some point.
@@Mr.Tabs.Guitar.Lessons how about some Mötley Crüe?

Hello

Everlong
😀
Man I’m just sat here absolutely astonished by how beautiful that Gibson ES is 😍😍😍
Cuando estas tocando la canción y llegas a la parte del coro, sientes un subidon unico!
Excellent cover, as usual! Thank you so much, it really helped me to make mine ;-)
Really like that guitar, dude
I really enjoy your videos Mr tabs I'm very proud of you! well done
Looks really fun to play! Thank you for this!! :)
Thank you so much, amazing as always 🤘🏼
Thank you so much, this was amazing!
Hello, i've waited this cover from you... Everlong!!
Awesome tab videos it would be really cool if you tabbed both guitar parts like you did in some past videos if there was two guitar parts that were significantly different
I've been trying to play this song for a long time and I finally found a video that I understand... thanks man
Everlong is really nice to play with your friends. Thanks!
Great cover, I tried learning some time ago but never got anywhere. This has inspired me to try once more at this song, also can you cover Heat of the moment it’s one of my favorites.
This awesome channel makes up 25% of my liked videos. No doubt that ratio will get even bigger...
This has got to be the best and easiest Drop D song
Keep the good work man! I really love the matching outfit in every single video you make 🤘
Amazing!!
This was way more helpful then I thought it was gonna be
A classic!! Still love the accents on the main riff. Thx mrTabs
It’s so fun to play along with you
Yes! 20 something years I've been playing this song and you are the ONLY person on the internet who shows how to correctly play riff #2 (interlude at 0:55 ) without contorting your fingers in some weird unnatural way. These YT Everlong covers have been a dime a dozen showing just the easy first section rhythm guitar and its been going on for for far too long. Bravo, man! I learned it using the Hal Leonard book as a guide years ago and it gave such a horrible example. Riff #2/2nd section/Interlude is such a critical part to absolutely nailing the song live and it has been a monkey wrench on my back for many years. --and a Like and Subscribe for YOU, sir. Thank you! :)
Took me years to figure out that part. All the versions I saw had such a weird configuration for that part.
Thank you very much sir. From one guitar player to another
I nominate you for best guitar covers on CZcams. Superb work my friend🤟👍
This dude deserves more followers... Like 10 million more. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Awesome job… again!!!

I already played the acoustic version but now its better I can play this with you :)
The best songggg!!! I love itttt!!!!
Amazing!!!!!! You are the best!
This is one of the first songs I learned to play and its nice to see I've been playing it almost 95% correct all these years ;)
Thanks for all the tabs you put out there, you do awesome work!
If I could make a request I would love to see a tab of Mama Kin by Aerosmith or Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi.
p 3:01

Maybe No One Knows by queens of the Stone Age next? One of my favorite tunes by them
RIP Taylor
I have no idea how you work any of this stuff out. but I am grateful you do..

(can you do Get The Funk Out by Extreme? It would be awesome)
YEAHHHH
Solid.
Love the axe, need one
I just want to learn it cause I hit the gym, amazing cover bro
I reckon a cover of limelight by rush would be pretty cool, especially considering that it looks like there aren't any amazing guitar tabs of it on youtube atm
Awesome job man... I haven't had much time to play over the past 3 or 4 yrs. Been really busy with my small children.. just not much time to think about playing guitar nowadays. I would love to teach my kids how to play as they progress in age. Maybe I will try to find the time to learn this song dust out the cobb webs in my Marshall stack and 08 Gibson Les Paul Custom Oxblood... I have been playing since 79... always a satisfying feeling to learn and master new songs... thumbs up subscribed and hit the bell my friend
Thank you
Hello, I waited for this song, everlong

RIP TAYLOR 😢
Props to the outfit tho, you killed it dawg
That is a lovely tone. What did you use to get that ??
hi I’m fairly new to guitar and I’ve been practicing with your video, but idk what settings I should do to make it sound like that. I have a mustang LT25 amp. Is there any settings I can change to make the sound similar?
🔥
Do "Burn" by Howzat!
Learned from your tabs to play this song, thank you!
Great cover!Next i ant talking about love?
The final countdown
I remember watching them on Letterman. Excellent job and suits a nice touch!!!
need some "Reelin in the Years" or "25 or 6 to 4"
I've been trying to found the right tone for 3 days fr
Would love to see "a light in the black" by Rainbow
I was curious what pedal/effects set-up you have in this recording, the tone is quite accurate and I would love to try and replicate it.
Difficulty is playing and singing at the same time, some parts will split your brain
I beg you will make Learn to fly, such a nice song.
Which one? The Pink Floyd one or the Foo Fighters one?
@Mr.Tabs you should do Working Man and Passage To Bangkok by Rush
Could you do a cover of Anything Goes from GNR? Pretty damn good tune

What pedals did u use
Though FIRE and flames please
Could you sudgest a beginner electric guitar that can do all sorts of stafs that are under 200 bucks? I specially like an sg by any chance but if there aren't any, i can do a les paul and strat so there you have it.
Squier affinity strat
