You talk so much you missed a lot that you could deconstruct. Why don't you listen to the song and then go back to marked parts and break down what you are hearing? It would make for a more informative video in my opinion.
Ok, I've been a fan of you and a subscriber for quite a while, but this is the first time I've seen this video of yours. Around 5 minutes you made a point that made me understand something so clear. For so long I have been so obsessed with bass singers, mainly because I settled in between a tenor and Baritone, more so on the tenor side.
But my obsession started because of your point exactly. Society does not revere bass voices the same as the high note wonders.(note pentatonix for the most amazing high note male singer ever to be born, you know who I mean if you deserve to)
I always thought I didnt have a "man's" voice.
So when I started to hear these masculine, super-human voices I thought, they deserve to be revered.
Hearing you say the same thing I've been thinking for the last 2 years means you just gained so much street cred in my book.
Lived your commentary and approach to evaluating presentation as well! I did have a hard time hearing home free so possibly turn up their volume a bit. Overall...thumbs up & suggest you take a look at "Mayday" to hear the incredible base singer expand his range! 😃
Oooooooo you should do one of the duets of Tim and I!!! 🤗
Hahaha!!!! PETER!!!! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜â¤ðŸ¤©
Shop around at CZcams and look at other people's comments about you. but you are so good to it. What you do when you sing, i'll be praised. Especially together with Tim. (Hope you understand what I write, English isn't my first language, I'm from Sweden.)
And by the way, I have thinking of ask you Peter, what is you range?
When I hear you sing with Tim I can hear that you follow him wery tight. Sometime it's hard to separate your two voices, it sounds like one
Special in "The sound of silence"
I have learn that you two have sing together in the same group, hope that is true? Is there some place I can found more of that then there you work with Home Free and the couple of songs you have done with Tim this 3-4 years back?
Would like to do that. â¤
Yes, please do!
Anna Koch omg yessss my favorite song ♥ï¸
Listen to Peter!!!! Do a reaction with him and Tim. (Please!)
Who else came to see her reaction to Tim's low note?
I like that you got Avi as your profile pic
I saw the title and that is totally why I'm here
Is this group now Tim and backups?
Exactly!
Tim does it lower here then in the recorded one with Avi, doesn't he? xD
Two songs that illustrate Tim's range. "Hillbilly Bone", where his lead is often lower than the singer carrying the bass line and "Mayday", where Tim starts off with a falsetto lead as strong as tenor Rob Lunquist's second verse.
Tim himself said that he's not using falsetto when singing lead in Mayday until he hits the note at 0:28.
Oh my God, you're right! I just listened again and you can hear the transition clearly when his hits that high note. Now that's just inhuman. I really hope Tara chooses Mayday as her next Home Free reaction. It really showcases everyone's ability.
I remember him tweeting it in reply to two fans kind of 'fighting' over who sang the first verse. One of them said it was Tim singing in falsetto, and the other replied with: "It's not Tim. It's Rob. Tim can't sustain that high." 😂 Tim first said something like: "You'll have to wait for the music video to find out.", but later on, he tweeted: "This amuses me... And btw, it ain't falsetto until about 0:30 in."
Personally, I was shocked that some people couldn't tell it was Tim singing, but the funniest thing was that some people didn't believe it was Tim singing even after the video was released. They thought Tim lip-synced to Austin singing, and Chance lip-synced to Tim singing (with his low note). 😂
Since I'd been a fan of the Sing-Off since it started I recognised Chance as the bass from Street Corner Symphony. That low note wasn't a surprize to me but the weird stereo effect on it was. Chance is a brilliant addition to the group but it's a shame Chris needed to leave. Home Free was his baby.
@Monika S. Man, that is impressive. My range goes to the high end of base (I can hit the uppermost notes of the base range but not low enough to call myself a base) and up to the upper end of high baritone but, going that high and NOT going falsetto is super impressive.
Their cover of "Man of constant sorrow" is great
I was trying to learn how to contact her to suggest this group and that song.
CAUTION!!!! Exposure may lead to a condition known as becoming a "Home Fry". No cure is known, or sought.
Adam Rupp is much more than just a beatbox. He stole the show when I saw them live. He came up with some effects that vibrated the entire theatre in his VERY long solo! Can't wait to see these guys again!
i love how she said was that a growl from a bear when he actually is using the growl tecnique
PLEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEE REACT TO THE VERSION FEATURING AVI KAPLAN!!!!!!!!!! THE RANGE THEY BOTH SHOW IS INSANE!!!!! You'll love the way the video is set up and performed. As a bass, it is by far one of my favorite songs to sing. It's CRAZY fun!
Was gonna say the same thing. Personally prefer the one with Avi.
ggazn326 oh absolutely, the version with Avi it 100% the better version, because...how could it not be?
Still a big fan of their live performance, but everything’s better with an Avi.
@ggazn326 I agree, they came up with the arrangement in the show, but really made it their own in the version feat. Avi.
I was going to suggest the one with Avi.
Yes!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!
The bass is Tim Foust and he's not just a bass, but a great singer as well, he has a wide 5-octave range. Home Free is an acapella Country group, but they add more beat to country , and also covers of pop songs they put a country spin on them. Please check out more of Home Free, I suggest "Man Of Constant Sorrow" or for their great harmonies "How Great Thou Art" They have videos, and also live performances of these also. Thanks.
I have not read back in the comments, so I don't know if anyone has given you any facts about these guys. First Tim Foust has a 5+ octave range, and he was born and raised in Texas. Hence the natural southern twang to his voice, and BTW- he also talks this low, too.. The high tenor, Austin Brown comes from southern Georgia, where he was also born and raise. And yes, he's as southern as they come, too. The other three here, Rob Lundquist (lead tenor and guy with full beard), and the brothers and also co-founders of the group are Chris Rupp(baritone and guy with cowboy hat), & Adam Rupp (the beatboxer) are all from Minnesota. Chris Rupp was replaced about 3 years ago, to pursue a solo career. He was replaced with Adam Chance who hails from the most southern part of Alabama. He sings mainly in the baritone/bass range, but he does have a 4 octave range, also. These guys are all very excellent vocally, but they also have the ability to mimic several musical instruments, too. Tim the guitar and trumpet, Adam Chance can do a jew harp sound that sounds so real. Austin can do a train's horn and a harmonica, also. Rob can whistle and stay on key no matter what the song may be and can do the scratch of a turntable sound. And Adam Rupp (The beatboxer) well it's better just say we're not quite sure what he can't do. He plays the drums, harmonica, a turntable, a didgeridoo, bird sounds, and so many other things that it'd take all day just to list them all. But if you watch their newest video of "Men Of Constant Sorrow" It will show you some of these things I just talked about. Adam Rupp was awarded the title of "Best Beatboxer Of The World" title, which was voted on by his peers a few years ago. Sorry, didn't mean to make this into a huge novel, but I wanted to give you just a few facts about these guys. Thank you! I really enjoyed you take on things.
Also Mrs Simon i agree with my fellow fries about the headphones. I personally love the the host comment after their performance when he said El paso just called and reported a seismic event.
It wasn't El Paso that Nick Lachey said, he said Pasadena.
Yesss, can we get more Home Free reactions? They have so many good covers! Man of Constant Sorrow, Mayday, My Church, Helplessly Hoping, and Can't Out Run You are someone my favorites.
So far they've improved upon every single song they've covered, as far as I'm concerned.
Can't go wrong with more Home Free!
HOME FREE is an a cAPELLA GROUP AND nEver disappoints. PLEASE do more reactions to HOME FREE - man of constant sorrow is another good one.
My favorite song from Home Free is How Great Thou Art. Their version of the song is absolutely superb. Please check it out.
ÐлекÑандра Бакульманова I totally agree.
The best ever IMO
YES, one of my favorites!!!!! Showing some love to the bass guys. Absolute talent in these gentlemen. Shoutout to their bass, Tim Foust, for that one in a million voice. Plz react to more bass singer moments !
Home Free has some pretty impressive talent. I would love to hear your impression for more of them when you have the time. Their arrangement for Do You Hear What I Hear is chilling every time, and Castle on the Hill, Love Train and Man of Constant Sorrow are hard to stop singing. So are some of their originals. Good Ol' Boy Good Time, Country Fried Pop Medley, Hunter Hays Medley, It Looks good, The Butts Remix. Well, I like everything they've put out. Thank you !!! ^_^
And their vision of "How great thou art"
Since we are nearing Christmas, O Holy Night is beautiful by Home Free. It's my favorite of their Christmas songs. I would love your impression of this song. Thanks
I also love their rendition of How Great Thou Art!
Oh, please, please, do more a lot more of Home Free, they are so talented and funny, besides they come off as such a good people, and really down to earth guys. We, Home Fries really enjoy them, and I hope you will continue to do so, too.
It's amazing watching them do that song live. When Tim hits that last note the whole building vibrates....
Tim's range is just insane. Not only extraordinal low notes, he is also able to sing really high notes. His chest voice goes all the way down to lower 1st octave, and up about high C and covers 3.5 octaves. With using growl and falsetto, his range becomes 5 octaves…!
Always love when someone hears that note for the first time!!! One that doesn't get enough reviews and reactions is I Can't Outrun You. Beautiful harmonies and a haunting video as well.
Check out the bass, Tim Foust, in some of the videos on his vocal range, which is at least 5 octaves.
PLEASE
A perfect example of his range is his recording of Can't Help Falling In Love. No video, but it's a perfect example of his range & vocal ability while also playing the piano.
@@patriciab8876 also very very true, his range is highlighted in that one really well
I'd suggest this too. There's a video that demonstrates Tim Foust's vocal range starting from low to high.
DON'T, you will spoil the raw reaction to those low notes in the original video's :D
Love your reactions to this one!!! DO MORE HOME FREE! That was only a taste of them. How great thou art is amazing
Thank you for doing Home Free! Tim has a 5 octave range and can sing lower than that (A0). Adam is a world class beatboxer (check out his live solo videos).Their best a cappella harmonies are "How Great Thou Art" (do first please) and "Helplessly Hoping". "Do You Hear What Hear" is has one of the best arrangements done by their beatboxer. They just put out a video for "Man of Constant Sorrow" which is incredible. They are all so talented and have a wide variety of songs/videos so you can't go wrong with any of them. Thank you for the video. Please do more Home Free!!!!
As old man that sings 2nd bass, I enjoyed this piece. May I also say, Miss, you are a gorgeous young lady.
Please react to more of Home Free. The guys are increadible talented. You won't regret - I promise!
They are really, really good. You can tell because they can do that three in front and three in back thing with only five guys.
I have been waiting for you to do Home Free, so happy!
Edit: I'm so happy to hear your comments on the low-range! Loved the video
This was the "The Sing Off" a capella competition, the year after Pentatonix won it. Home Free won their year, and have gone to a CZcams popularity, just like Pentatonix did.
You should watch their video of "How Great Thou Art", filmed in the Alps. The video itself is beautiful, not to mention the great singing.
I adore that low male (bedroom) voice. Avi and Tim have really got a huge range and they are both easy on the eyes. Home Free is amazing and I knew that you, Tara would love them. Home Free has the top beatboxer around.
I've been waiting for you to react to Home Free; thank you! I sure would love to see more. They release mostly covers, but, they do have some originals as well. Unless you have a sub-woofer you may want to use headphones to listen to them. Tim, the bass, has a five octave range.
you are right about the sub-woofer... before I married I used to listen to Home Free through the speakers of a simple JVC-system (linked my laptop to it with a double-jack cable)… but my husband has an almost professional set-up with a sub-woofer that makes you feel the notes (amazing home cinema effect, love watching movies)… and the first time I listened to Home Free on that system it nearly scared me to death (didn't help either that I was using the wooden casing above the sub-woofer as a seat)… I just love it!!! Home Free is indeed best listened with one hell of a sub-woofer
Actually 6 octaves now haha
Now as I mentioned in a comment on one of your earlier videos, Tim Faust has a 5 octave range, if you want to hear how _high_ he can go, you should listen to *'Mayday'* and/or *'All About That bass'* . I especially would like you to see their cover of *Mayday by CAM* its one of my favorite songs from them. Also they use some difficult sounding layering at the end that really exemplifies accapella as an art.
I have watched Home Free since they won that show. I have seen them twice in concert and absolutely love the group. So entertaining. Glad you have them props.
When the Christmas season arrives, you should listen to their rendition of O Holy Night. Austin's (T1/Lead) technique is phenomenal.
You are listening to an older version of them, you really need to listen to more of their recent work and see exactly how well they work together vocally as well as a group of really talented humans.
YES!!!!! I've been hoping you would react to Home Free!!! I haven't watched your reaction yet, but Home Free is the BEST!! 4 World Class voices!!
I have difficulty hearing low tones, with Tim Faust, sometimes i hear nothing, but i feel it, and i love it!
More home free reactions please!!
her face when the low note drops.... precious :)
There are many many songs from Home Free that you could do, but I suggest you react to Home Free's cover of "Mayday", next!! The guy (Tim Foust) that hit the low note in this performance sings in High Tenor in Mayday!! He has a 5 Octave range!
I loved this video cause you’re so right about the low end of singing. When I was 15 I got pneumonia and completely lost my low end. So I started listening to a lot low register singers and practiced all the time. It was the only way I got my voice back and in turn it expanded my high range. Low end matters!
You should watch other Home Free videos. They are extraordinary. Seven Bridges Road is a fabulous place to start.
I saw them live last month and literally couldn't breathe whenever Tim hit one of those low notes.
Tim (the bass) has actually gone down to an A0 in the background of one of their songs, I'm convinced at this point that he's not human.
Love seeing Bass singers represent.
You should check out the bass, Tim Foust's vocal range video. His voice spans more than 5 octaves, the lowest I've seen him do is a G0, but most videos put it as an A0. His range is from either a G0 or an A0, all the way up to an A5. You should also react to their cover of Mayday, by Cam. In the beginning of that song he sings in the tenor range effortlessly.
Tim Foust, the bass singer, has a 5 octave range of A0 to A5. To really see what he can do is to see Home Free in concert. He literally vibrates the room with his lower notes. It just shakes your whole body. The F#1 that he hits here at the end is just normal for him. There are at least a dozen songs out there like Seven Bridges Road, Hillbilly Bone, Man Of Constant Sorrow and also Elvira featuring the Oak Ridge Boys just to name a few. Want to hear him sing tenor? Check out their cover of Mayday by Cam.
You need to hear their version with Avi Kaplan! Studio version so it’s a lot cleaner. And it’s a half step higher on the studio version. G, and this live version is in F#.
Did you notice the bass blushing when he got a compliment? They all do that. It is so endearing. ALSO, Tim Foust is a 5 Octave singer. He is amazing.
Nice reaction. A shame you missed Tim's high note in this one. I would really love for you to react to their version of Man Of constant Sorrow - Live, and also Fishing In The Dark / Boondocks mashup. Hoping to see more Home Free reactions from you. Enjoyed this one a lot.
One of my favorite demonstrations of his range is "Lets Get it On", where he goes from and A4 down to a D2 in like 10 seconds. Other great songs with great low notes are "Hillbilly Bone", "Do You Hear What I Hear", "Honey I'm Good", "What Child is This" (On Chris Rupp's Channel) and "Your Man".
Examples of his high range includes "Mayday" and "Greensleeves" (on Peter Hollens' channel).
YES! I just wait for it
Pentatonix "Aha" live from Japan blew my mind. I sat there w/ my jaw on the floor the entire time... more & more as it went along!!!! ;) ENJOY!
Oh yessss! How can I forget that Show :P
LOVE, love, love Homefree! Thanks!
Tara please react to Home Free feat. the Oak Ridge Boys singing Elvira and also Home Free have a lot of original content that they have produced as well as covers that they do
Ahh! I have been dying for you to do a Home Free video! Thanks so much!
Tim Foust has a 5+ octave range. Watch Mayday czcams.com/video/znoV5gND9g0/video.html Tim is lead and sings right up there with the tenors effortlessly!
I’m so happy you did home free! I love you and your so beautiful. Please continue to react to home free!
Awesome video thanks for reacting to this video! I would love to have you react to their cover of Mayday and My Church. Mayday and My Church includes their newest member as well!
I saw them in concert last month and they sang this. Tim's voice vibrates through your body and vibrates the seats with his low notes. I loved them before I saw them and love and adore them even more afterwards. They sounded beautiful live. The concert was in a Chapel in London. I'll never forget it. I would deffinatly see them again 💜. In The Blood is another personal favourite of mine but there are so many it's hard to choose. When singing Mayday Tim sings really high which is just as amazing as his low notes. New sub here. Thank you for your comments. Interesting and informative review.
Can you do Home Free's Cover of Sold by John Michael Montgomery, please.
Yeees
They are amazing live! One of the best concerts ever.
More Home Free!
Home Free's "Do You Hear What I Hear" is extremely emotional and MIND BLOWING!!!!!
Home Free!! Yes!! Thx so much Tara, been waiting for this. Check out their latest video “Man of constant sorrowâ€
Home Free is great. And u Tara, I just love the things u point out. Ur such a pro.
Karen Carpenter was one who could sing low. She had one of the best voices!
I second that. I really love her voice.
I was going to mention Karen Carpenter if nobody else did. She didn't have an amazingly wide range (about three octaves), but boy did she make it work, especially in the low end.
3 octaves is actually a rather wide range for a female singer.
Judith Durham of The Seekers could also sing low. She and Karen are my favorite Altos.
I love love loved your reaction to Tim that's what's kept me hooked to hone free since I heard them.
Check out ,Tim Foust Cant Help Falling in Love
Really glad CZcams recommend this video to me. Nice video, glad you liked the bass drop!
Please react to Lara Fabian she's an extremely emotive singer but still sings with impeccable technique and I'd like to see your view on her. I'd love if you could react to her singing "Broken Vow" or "You're not from here"
Definitely watched this for the look on her face when Tim hits the NOTE!
Hello Mrs Simon first i want to personally thank you for reading and commenting back. I know uou are a very busy professional so it means a lot. Secondly thanks so much for reacting to this one. I really enjoyed you comments on the performance as a whole,i found it very interesting. Here's a little background for Home free.We Home free fans call ourselves home fries. And believe me there's a lot of us. They won the Sing Off a year after Pentatonix. If you want to know more about them personally i recommend watching the sing off performances with intro and judges comments. They made a version of this with Avi Kaplan which was amazing. Tim the one who hit the low note at the end and Avi are good friends. Tim also help Avi sing lower because that's the kind of guy they all are.Avi also made an appearance on their original song champagne taste on a beer budget. They've made so much over the years covering differentstyles and genre's. Everything from happy and fun to deep and meaningful. Their beatboxer Adam Rupp who was on the end,has won awards and was named one of the best beatboxers in the country by his peers. Through out the years I've listened to Adam impersonate everything from drums to turntables, even a harmonica. Yes Mrs Simon i said a harmonica. They are also masterful story tellers. They're covers of my old man,mom and Thinking out loud/ lets get it on,i like the sound of that, and think a little less are excellent examples of what i mean. Thanks agsin for taking the time, and your insight. If you have the time I'm really looking forward to your next Home free reaction. God bless and hope you have a great day.
Awe thanks Daniel! Great info and insight to Home Free. I’ll definitely do more from them soon, they’re great! God bless you as well, thanks for commenting!
I love the video of this song where they are all standing outside around a big 🔥Fire!!
Grandma B ðŸðŸ’•
You should react to Tim Foust's cover of Can't Help Falling in Love
Holy cow! Someone who knows dissonance when she hears it. I love it. So few do. Even less like it.
React to Scott Hoying Lost On You it’s absolute perfection
I think you would love Home Frees rendition of How Great Thou Art.. its just beautiful
She talks about that note being superhuman but he hadn’t even started growling yet that was still chest
ðŸ‘👄ðŸ‘
Notice how close Tim is holding the mic to his mouth while the other guys have some distance? He is well aware of the bass proximity effect. This works with cardioid mics, with the Shure SM58 being something of a reference for how well it does this. The SM58 (and its variants) has a very linear roll-off of the low frequencies, especially below 150hz and you can boost this range by getting it closer. Speaking as a sound guy, I love the SM58 because it's rugged and reliable and doesn't make noise, even when singers are walking around with it. Tim knows his stuff and gets the most mileage out of his voice by using that proximity effect to rumble the judges right out of their seats.
Please react to the sugar plum fairy by pentatonix!
Emma Bruno Yaaaaass!
In that particular video Tim covered 4+ octaves. He has an insane range. Please more Home Free. Another A capella group you might like to listen to is Voiceplay. They have an insanely low bass as well. my personal favoutite from them is 'Phantom of the opera' with Rachel Potter.
She talked through most of it
Please react to HALLELUJAH pentatonix
yes yes yes yes yes
Theres a live version from their Christmas special thats very good.
czcams.com/video/haFHrfmfHbc/video.html
she already did
Saw Home Free twice in concert for different album releases, so different tours. They are absolutely amazing live! This performance was when they had Chris, and they were brand new as a group together. You should hear them now, with years of working together, and now that they have Adam Chance. The album version of "Honey I'm Good" Tim hits a low note (actually three low notes, but the last) that rivals the lowest synthesized bass. My Polk Sub absolutely shakes the house. I believe it's a C#1. He does go lower into the 0 Range in other songs, but the punch of that notes is unreal. If you have a GOOD headset or fantastic sub, you could try watching their youtube video to hear it. It's around 2/3 the way through the song.
You'd probably be blown away by their more recent video, "Man of Constant Sorrow" which is absolutely mind-blowing.
Please react to Making Christmas from Pentatonix!!!
My high school a capella sextet group had a true contrabass (and contralto...me!). It's insane the depth of sound his voice added to our group. Some of the notes he'd hit would just vibrate/resonate in your own chest as you were singing near him; it had a HUGE impact on our sound. So loooooong ago but super fond memories.
Please React to "Dimash Kudaibergenov - SOS of an Earthly Being in Distress
Hi Tara, we, the masses, reacted much the same as you did to Tim's super low f sharp. Thank God for super high-quality headphones that can reveal those notes
React to "aha singapure live" from pentatonix
I love hearing vocal coaches react to Home Free! Please do some more!
Their version of Do You Hear What I Hear is RIDICULOUS!!! Their vocal percussionist (Adam Rupp) did the arrangement. Headphones required to get the full experience.
Other phenomenal covers they’ve done include
1. How Great Thou Art
2. Sold (Tim nails an A0 in the chorus) - best to listen to that one with headphones too.
3. Man of Constant Sorrow
4. God Blessed Texas
5. Silent Night
I could keep going but I’d just end up listing every song they’ve ever sung 😄
React to AHA by Pentatonix LIVE
•Etta • omg yes her love of Mitch (Megaphone Man) will change
Live at Star Vista, make sure to add that to it, there are several live versions.
Can we just admire how pretty she is.. flawless
LOVED your reaactionnn. I'm still waiting for DIMASHHH and l actually have one other requestt: glennis grace- run to you. She is a singer of holland and her role model is whitney houston and you are definitely gonna hear thattt!!
Hello Mrs Simon thanks for commenting back,i agree with the beauty and style comments. May i add love your necklace, hair and eyes beautiful also. Another vocal coach Mr Frank reacted to a portion of their mt Morris concert entitled Tim blows out sound system. And yes he did,he went so low that according to Mr Frank the speakers saw stars it was great.
great reaction! Please take a look at Morissette's cover of Rise up on the wish bus :) Keep up the amazing work!
I have replayed this a couple dozen times and I just love the expression on your face as Tim hits the low notes.
Please React to Dimash Kudaibergen singing SOS or Sinful Passion, his technique is awesome and he has a vocal range of 6 or 7 Octaves approximately.
VERY INTERESTING VERSION!!! Like the group as well, and the presentation! Being unique poses the many upcoming challenges of presenting something fresh with each new performance. That challenge, keeps people wanting to see WHAT COMES NEXT!! GREAT CRITIQUE TARA!
and if you're gonna react to dimash I would prefer to first watch Sos opera 2 and adagio etc so first you could be shocked but than the REALLY REALLY WOWSSS like the last ones sinful passion etc than you are like wow
Glad you did Homefree! I agree. A good solid bass is so nice to hear! Thx for the analysis!
