    I took my mother to 3 dermatologists in Oklahoma and they all told her the condition was not curable, only treatable. She dealt with this crap for 40 years, but then the internet came along and suddenly we had the knowledge of the world at our fingertips, so I started doing some extensive research. I found literature from an old school doctor out of the 1950's, that said excessive copper was causing eczema and he was curing people by lowering their copper with daily doses of zinc. According to him, his cure was blocked from being taught at the universities by big pharma. Then after the genome was mapped in 2003, they discovered a new form of copper, called free or unbound to ceruloplasmin copper, so I started researching this. It's a gene defect in the ATP7B copper binding gene, which causes a buildup of toxic unbound copper to build up in the body. Some of the copper is bound and taken out of the body through the bile duct, but not all of it, and this remaining unbound toxic copper builds up in the body over time. It can cause all sorts of problems, one of which is eczema. It also causes white splotches on the skin in some people, because toxic free copper destroys the melanin pigment in the cells. When a mother has a high free copper while the fetus is being developed, it sometimes causes asthma too.
    It took a few years of taking zinc for my mother to lower her copper and cure her eczema, and it never came back, because she continued taking 50mg of zinc once a day. While chelating the copper, she took 50 mg of zinc 3 times per day, 150mg total per day, one hour before or 2 hours after meals. It must be taken on an empty stomach, because food binds it up and renders it inactive. The copper test you need is not a normal serum copper test, but a relatively new test called "direct measurement of free copper", the test code at lab corp is 279071. You can get prescription zinc, but over the counter zinc works just as well. The problem with zinc, is it can be nauseating if taken on an empty stomach, even the prescription form. I tested a bunch of brands and types, and now foods zinc picolinate is the least nauseating. It doesn't matter if it's zinc gluconate, zinc picolinate, etc. all zinc salts will block copper absorption and also chelate copper through intestinal cells. Zinc is a primer for metallathionine in intestinal cells, and it has a high affinity for copper. It absorbs the copper into the intestinal cells, and since the intestinal cells turn over every 8 days, and new ones are created, the old copper laden intestinal cells are sloughed off out through the stool, and the process starts over again. This is how zinc chelates copper from the body. It's slow, but one of the safest ways of decoppering the body. Don't take the old copper chelating drug penacillamine, because it has some nasty side effects. It doesn't bind the copper, it just mobilizes it from the tissue and sends high amounts of copper through the kidneys. It has also put people into a permanent vegetative state by flooding their brain with massive amounts of copper. With zinc, it may take 1, 2 or 3 years to lower your free copper to a non toxic level, depending on your age and what ATP7B gene mutation you have. There are over 400 mutations identified so far. One thing that is almost as safe as zinc, but much faster, is a compound called ammonium tetrathiomolybdate (TM). It consists of sulfur and molybdenum, and can decopper a person in 8 weeks, but it must be administered by a doctor, because you'll need weekly anemia tests. Since it's sulfur and molybdenum, you can have a compounding pharmacist make it.
    If you have eczema, your whole family needs to have a free copper test done, regardless of whether they have eczema, because this is an hereditary gene defect. Not everyone with a high free copper gets eczema, but it can cause alot of other problems. Groups of people with Schizophrenia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Lou Gehrig's, and Tourette's have been tested and all have shown to have a high free copper. A usage patent has been submitted to the FDA to treat and cure people with TM, but that was submitted over a decade ago and it still hasn't been granted. The reason you can have a high free copper in your blood, and not have Schizophrenia, Parkinson's etc. is because your blood brain barrier (BBB) is intact and keeping the free copper out of your brain. In schizophrenia, they are born with a defective BBB, but in the old age diseases the BBB deteriorates and becomes permeable when people get older, which allows the toxic free copper to enter and short circuit the brain. Don't expect to find a doctor that knows this, because their curriculum in medical school is controlled by big pharma, which makes huge donations to the universities. They block cures from being taught, because the big money is in treating, not curing disorders. If someone can be cured with OTC zinc, they lost a cash cow that is no longer buying monthly medications to treat the condition. High blood pressure is also caused by a high free copper and can be cured with zinc, but they're making billions from people taking blood pressure pills to treat the condition. It's all about money, and these big companies don't want you cured, only treated daily with their medications for a lifetime.
    I almost forgot, if you have a high free copper causing your problem and not a vitamin D deficiency, which can also cause eczema, be sure to get on a low copper diet. The 2 highest copper foods are liver and shellfish. Chocolate mushrooms, avocados and nuts are also high in copper. The reason a low vitamin D causes eczema in some people, is because vitamin D regulates the immune response. When vitamin D gets low, the immune system goes haywire and attacks the body.

    I can't tell you how much this video helped me! Finally, my face is eczema free! On one of my worst days, I decided to search for videos about healing eczema and found this one. Just like you, I was focusing too much on creams and things in my environment, instead of my gut. Now I've been taking probiotics, eating fermented foods and eliminating gluten, dairy and refined sugar. I love that I can finally prevent eczema flare ups!! Thank you so much!

    I had developed dyshidrotic excema from always having my hands in bleach water and other chemicals for my job, along w wearing gloves and constantly washing my hands. I looked up natural ways to heal it. I found out drinking a tablespoon of diluted ACV (with a straw), and also keeping castor oil on the eczema. I tried it and it has literally healed it within days. Thought I'd share my tips. Thank you for the vid!💞
    Edit: what I also found helped is palmers coconut oil lotion. I use that now.

    I've had eczema my entire life and what's made the biggest difference has been a healthy lifestyle. I try to avoid fried or foods with bad fats. Exercising and eating well has absolutely changed my life. Using gentle soap and a rich lotion like Euricin every day (even when I'm not having a breakout). Taking a probiotic is also very helpful!

    I've suffered from eczema for as long as I have remembered and it's affected every choice that I've made. I always have to wear long sleeves to cover up my rashes and peeling skin. Everyday is like your worst day. I've turned to many doctors and they all just prescribed steroids which have done nothing but dry out my skin even more. Everyone told me I would eventually "grow out of it" which was discouraging. I keep a pretty clean diet and I've done so much research, but nothing has come up. I kept blaming my eczema on my stress from school and anything I thought would have an effect (detergents, dust, etc.) Until your video, I've never made the connection between gut health and skin. Thank you so much for the info. I love your natural based beauty and lifestyle videos.

    • @amy_rene
      @amy_rene  Před 7 lety +8

      Hey Mandy! Oh I'm glad my video was able to shed some new light on your eczema. It's a horrible thing to suffer with, and I can't imagine how hard it's been for you having eczema all this time and with such severity. It's so discouraging to come away from the doctors with a steroid prescription and no cause...other than "genetics". I know how that feels.
      If you haven't already, I'd suggest taking a look at my post where I have more details on the gut skin connection and how I healed. Clean eating itself isn't enough, as eczema sufferers can often be reactive to even the healthiest foods (e.g. my skin went mad on avocados). Working with a naturopath or functional medicine practictioner can help you to identify the problem foods that need to be temporarily reduced or removed during healing, as well as figure out what is happening with your digestive health. All the best!!

      I completely relate and understand your situation. I've had eczema since I was 5 and it progressively got worse throughout my life. It got so bad in my late teens to early twenties that it was all over my face. My facial skin was so damaged that I hated leaving my room for anything. Eczema caused my life to spiral downwards and make me antisocial. I missed so many critical years of my life because of eczema. I always felt so alone, but because of youtube I know there are so many more with this problem.

    I used to have absolutely terrible eczema as a child up until I was about 11 where it seemed to have cleared up completely. But It came back when I was 16-17 and came back more vicious than ever, Being 20 now the doctors prescribed me Cyclosporin (Immunosuppressant), Which had worked (And is somewhat working). I am starting on probiotic therapy and focusing on healing my gut right away!

      @@amand1518 yes, it did! I had it for about a 2 year period but it went away by 2019. I also changed jobs, got rid of a lot of stressors in my life including toxic relationships, and avoided certain foods that trigger episodes. I do take daily allergy medicine which helps as well, but I have never gotten it again all over my body, and it is limited to small, mild amounts on my face if I experience histamine overload from certain foods. However, now I can pretty much eat any food without having skin reactions, and I thought that I would never be able to enjoy these foods again.

    It looks like that you have learnt a lot about eczema. What you have said are from what "good" doctors said. Treating from inside out it the best. My 14 year old son has eczema for last few years. Doctors did not help, but they took my money. I just let him drinking bone (beef, chicken, pork) broth (stock) for about two weeks and have a better result (no more red/pink skin). I think that I have to limit/stop his carbohydrates
    and processed dairy. He is trying coconut oil - have not seen any improvement (maybe he skips at sometime).

    Love your channel. It's my first time commenting since watching your videos and subscribing. I've learned so much from both of you while on this journey of healing myself with food. I've read books that you recommended like Vegetarian Myth, Death by Food Pyramid, GAPS Diet, and Mastering Your Mean Girl (absolutely love.) This particular video was much needed for me today. I was on a GAPS diet for 3 months spending about 2-3 weeks in intro and alternating back and forth from intro to full during that time. I did experience a harsh die off reaction and towards the end I became lethargic. I was worried that I wasn't eating enough carbs and started to come up a few reasons on why I needed to get off this diet. It's been a month now since eating grains plus some junk food and as you can imagine my hives came back immediately and the worse of my IBS came back after a month (Spasms.) Started to eat Paleo with potatoes yesterday and I can feel the difference already. I loved hearing that your experience with GAPS was like a roller coaster and that you recommended slowly healing yourself instead of experiencing die off reactions all at once. Thank you for spending time and creating this channel ❤️

    • @amy_rene
      @amy_rene  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi Juliet - thanks so much for your comment :) The GAPS diet can be quite overwhelming, especially intro! I think that's ultimately why I didn't stay on the intro diet for very long...and I also had to be careful about eating enough carbs. Although GAPS eliminates complex starches, it is possible to get more than enough carbs from eating fruit...and it's not necessary to eliminate starch forever! Can you believe that at my worst, the only fruit I could tolerate was a pealed pear (I reacted to the skins). So it was lots of poached and baked pears during that time!! Things did improve though...after many ups and downs with the die-off...and after a few months I was able to "graduate" to full paleo, eating sweet potatoes and the like :) I would not attempt eating grains until my gut is fully healed (my naturopath expects 2 years!), and even then I intend to remain gluten free for the rest of my life. Although having eczema and hives was awful, I do feel it's given me the understanding and the tools to really look after my health going forward. Our bodies can heal if we give them the time and the right tools - the process can be uncomfortable though haha! All the very best with your healing Juliet

    Aside from a few details, my story sounds a lot like yours. Had eczema as a kid, came back in my mid twenties, bout of antibiotics, steroid creams, allergy tests, air purifier, paleo diet, moving to a new place. I'm at a point where I'm trying an elimination diet on my own without doctor advice. I had a consultation with a Functional Medicine doctor but was a little discouraged because of the cost and comments from my family about it's possible effectiveness. Maybe I should revisit it? Not sure how long I should wait to see if it clears up with a little more clean eating, or go to a doctor so I can really find out what's going on and try supplements. Any advice? Thank you for sharing this video!

    • @amy_rene
      @amy_rene  Před 7 lety +2

      Hey Donna! If I was you I'd prefer to work with a functional medicine practitioner or naturopath, as they will look at resolving the root cause of your eczema (gut health). I think many people who haven't had any significant health issues are wary of going the non-conventional route - don't let them stand in the way of you getting well!
      As far as next steps... I'd say that where there are significant gut issues, eating clean may not be enough - a gut healing protocol with supplements is the way to go (in my opinion!). We recently put together a free Week 1 gut healing plan, if you're interested in learning more :) www.cultivatebeauty.com.au/getting-started-gut-healing/

    Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I didn’t have this until I got eyelash extensions. It didn’t start right away, took about six months. The results lasted, literally, months. I wore sun glasses to work. It finally went away. The steroid cream helped at first then left it’s stamp, negatively. When it cleared up, maybe 9 months later, stupid me-tried the eyelashes again! Fine until i got my fill. Man did I look good until the swelling (eyes and down my face and neck!) started immediately. Now make up and other things start it all back up. Will include this very basic fact, diet, and make some changes as I read more. Going to a dermatologist next week as well. I imagine, after some time passes, it’ll pass if I can make other changes and stop pissing off my skin, our bodies largest organ!

    I have been struggling with my eczema for over 2 years now. So many doctors, medication, emolients, steroids..nothing ever helped.
    Finally did food intolerance tests and the results were terrifying. I have a strong gluten and lactose intolerance and lots of different allergies. I eliminated all the products from my diet. My diet is really rich in nutritions and physically and mentally I'm feeling very well. I have no longer any bloated tummy and no more gases. But the skin condition is not better at all.
    It's been nearly two months since I changed diet and it doesn't seem to help but I'm even still getting worse and worse.
    At the moment about 90% of my skin is covered with eczema. It's burning, painful and itchy. From time to time seems to be infected then the smell of the skin is really strange and everything is red and painful. I'm also getting dofferent symptoms like cold sweats, swollen lymph glands, bladder infections, nipple infections, hair loss, swollen legs, feeling of weakness. I believe it's because of viruses and bacterias coming through the broken skin.
    I have no more hope. I already forget what it is like not to feel any discomfort.
    Anyone any advice..?

    Eczema sucks I hate it seems like nothing isn't working even probiotics not helping, but I guess I get frustrated and not being patient with whatever I'm trying some months I'm fine than than next fews months later it gets bad It seems like I'm going to have it no matter what regardless of diet changes and soaps because I always have use sensitive skin soaps like dove sensitive skin and oatmeal bar soaps with aloe vera it relieves the itching but I'll still have the rashes/bumps and sometimes when I'm in the sun I have to make sure I cover up with a hat long sleeve and sunglasses because my eczema started as a heat rash than it just got worse and I realized I had eczema

      Kudos for the video content! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you heard about - Franaar Alive Skin Formula (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a good one off guide for beating eczema minus the hard work. Ive heard some super things about it and my mate after a lifetime of fighting got cool results with it.

    I really appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge in this video, its one of the most informative videos I've found! I'm in a similiar place where I have these huge flare ups of eczema and general rashes I'm sure its connected to my poor gut health. When you say, at the start of your healing process you ate very plain food, what did your diet and meals consist of? I feel totally overwhelmed by the amount of food I need to stay away from (including all the ones high in histamines) and feel a bit lost at where to start with healing myself. Thank you again for this video and your channel!!!
