@@mikebastiat No. The difference between the Orthodox faith and the rest is our commitment to the tradition handed down to us from the first days of Christianity, before the Bible was even written. There have been many schisms, breaks, heresies, etc. in Church history, and this is one of them. There have also been many healings and restorations in Church history. One day, this too shall pass... From the layman who just goes to church to the Patriarchs themselves, we're all human and we all make mistakes. We disagree and get political at times. There is no Orthodox Pope. Nobody is infallible. So no, there is no "Grand Consensus" that we all agree on, outside of our Oaths of faith.
You really dont shy away from things that conflict with the True Faith, I respect that. Its probably better to ask this now rather than never. I've got a question, what is the Orthodox stance on precatory or imprecatory prayer for enemies?

Unfortunately, this seems to be common in Eastern Europe. Orthodoxy has been politicized heavily. Russia, Serbia, and now Ukraine have fallen to the error of shaping the Church based off their politics. And not vice versa. This happened to the Catholic Church long ago, and now it seems it's happening to the Orthodox Church. I understand that a distrust of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine stems from Russias misuse of it. But to turn around and do the exact same thing as a retaliation is a horrible mistake.
@@sia9907 not the case. The Orthodox Church doesn’t permit this. It is the decisions and short comings of individuals. We don’t believe in a Nestorian or Monophysite ecclesiology. Because the west blackmailed the Maidan revolutionaries, and told them that if they didn't elect politicians that they approved of, then their new Government wouldn't be recognized. I firmly believe that Ukraine needs to be an independent country and should defend themselves against Russia. But I also believe that they need to free from a lot of western influence as well. Russia gains control of other countries through brute force. The West gains control of countries mostly through trickery and economic blackmail. Ukraine is suffering from two different powers of evil, and it's heartbreaking.
Lots of parallels to what Hitler did, he replaced the pastors, murdered or imprisoned those who wouldn't go along, created his own churches, and wrote his own version of the bible. It is that same spirit.
It's a shame too, both from desecration of the word of God and because doing that gives false ideas like "modern jews are like ancient jews" more perceived validity. Big difference tho: Hitler wasn't a modern jew. Zelensky is, which makes this a million times worse.
"Lots of parallels to what Hitler did, he replaced the pastors, murdered or imprisoned those who wouldn't go along, created his own churches, and wrote his own version of the bible. It is that same spirit." "Powerful comment! Thank you!" You're repeating falsehoods spread by the OSS (The predecessor to the CIA) for propaganda purposes. Whether unknowingly or not you're validating the very foundations of the post-1945 Liberal system that you suffer under. Read what Fr. Dumitru Staniloae and many other Orthodox clergy locked up with him by the Communists had to say about this time in history.
Though blasphemous…I can’t help but wonder if God allowed it as a message to His Children, and the world, that these two leaders are not cooperating with His Will to put it lightly, therefore, He is absent in the whole exchange for both the giver and receiver as depicted on the “icon”…where the giver is deliberate and obvious but the receiver’s current stance in corporation with the world portrays a cheap rendition of what our Lord and Savior is not (looks like it was created with magic markers or is a computer-generated print out amongst the “black void”)…therefore, this “icon” represents their truth as it relates to the war, social/political/global agendas, and the spiritual implications to all of it (unless they repent, God-willing). In other words, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is absent because the exchange and powers that be between these two are not in accordance with His Will…so in that way, the “icon” may be accurate in relaying God’s message regarding these affairs and possibly why He allowed such a disgraceful “icon” to be revealed openly to the public and the world at large.
God does indeed permit things like this not only as a correction, but indeed to highlight and reveal different issues. More so, it is to spurn the faithful to action and to warn us from the sleep of worldliness and humanism. St. Justin Popovich wrote extensively on this matter.
My goodness, that icon. There's something about it that deeply unsettles me. I don't mean to sound conspiratorial, but I feel like that can't just be an accident they made with symbolism. If Zelensky did not know what he was doing. Something not of the flesh did.
I saw a video recently on UTube a Catholic video and it is about this Icon given to Pope Francis Catholics definitely see it as an insult to Pope Francis and Catholics and Orthodox. Who is Bartholomew? I did hear there was a split in the Orthodox Church please explain a bit more who is your Patriarch ? Yes that Icon is an insult and yes Catholics were offended. From Australia.
My jurisdiction has direct communion with Patriarch Kirill. Not that the MP doesn’t have its own set of problems. The issue in Ukraine was just prevalent given the blatant display of iconoclasm and it’s something none of us can stand by. Lest we be accountable for inaction. Thanks for the comment! There’s a good monastery in Australia! The monastery of St. Michael the Archangel under ROCOR.
Yes, true Fr but he is Jewish and very secular minded. Could this not have been, although well meaning, not a matter of having no love for the church or its people, but that he has a misunderstanding of these things? Many who represent Orthodoxy have taught that we should not attack what is wrong with a person but that we should ourselves live as an example of what Christ teaches and try to remember what is good and help bring out what is good in a person. Should we not be forgiving of those who simply do not understand ? Should we not be tolerant -- not to say agreeing with error -- but should we not at least be kind in our words of correction. It is my understanding that heresy, blasphemy, and ecclesiastical errors are matters for a council of bishops and their diocese.
St John Chrysostom once said “we mustn’t mind offending men, if by flattering them we offend God”. I haven’t attacked Zelensky as a person. I have pointed out the evil he presented and committed by doing this. It is a form of iconoclasm. An anathematized heresy declared as such by the 7th Ecumenical council of the Church. Political correctness isn’t Christian. It’s dishonesty dressed in the mask of charity. Jesus called the Pharisees a brood of vipers. They were certainly offended. But was Jesus wrong? No. Banish such thoughts.
@Jeffrey Howard Z e l e n sky understands perfectly well that as Orthodox we venerate our icons, so he chose to offend and desecrate an image of Christ and His mother. He also knows that Francis and Bart are in support of the war against Ukrainian Orthodox (Canonical) ones, so he's fine doing such things that please him. When it comes to someone offending our God and Holy Mother, I personally will not use kind words for their evil ways. So, for someone to use biblical words to point out that we must forgive someone as evil as that man is....God forgives. I am disgusted by his evil ways. Period. Anathema! After all Zelensky is "one of the smartest men in the world" and therefore he knows his evil ways. Please do not be confused with being kind to evil. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

"The Heresy of Political Ideology-We Must Not Be of the World" This and much of the video presupposes Political Quietism and Pietism. Both of these are closer to a heresy than the vague term of "ideology". This is the first time I have seen "hyperdox". But you are right about Zelensky, It is a bit complicated. He is under control of the Nationalists that have the weapons. I learned to write Icons via a friend who in turn was taught by an Orthodox priest, and we had to be silent everyday etc , just as the writing of the icon would have been done as any Orthodox . Further I was an artists , so what I have already said concerning the disrespectful picture I know enough about Iconography and Art to cary a little weight . Z well, I do not want to judge him but we can judge the action , its an insulting to all Christians especially the Pope and more especially the Orthodox faith.
I would like to tell you a story
Volodymyr Zelenskyy is Jewish
The end

Just when I couldn't dislike Zelensky and his corrupt government anymore.
The schism between the Greek and Russian Orthodox churches breaks my heart. Politics has no place in our faith, ideally. This is a disgrace.
@@mikebastiat I don't understand your comment. Consensus about what?
@@mikebastiat Tradition, sacrament, tradition, sacrament... Those look like different words with different meanings, to me.
Amen.
You really dont shy away from things that conflict with the True Faith, I respect that.
Its probably better to ask this now rather than never.
I've got a question, what is the Orthodox stance on precatory or imprecatory prayer for enemies?
I don't know why but when i see/hear someone blaspheming our Christian faith, I feel extreme sorrow for the person/persons when he meets the Creator of the world. 😢
I've heard it said, repeatedly, that the Orthodox church sees no problem with state involvement.
@@sia9907 not the case. The Orthodox Church doesn’t permit this. It is the decisions and short comings of individuals. We don’t believe in a Nestorian or Monophysite ecclesiology. The Church is a human and divine institution. It’s human elements and the issues present among its members don’t reflect the Church as a whole nor do they dictate it’s divine status.
blaming everything on Russia even when the truth is staring at you in the face. Ukrainian ideology is fundamentally western, that every ethnicity should get its own ethnostate. Russia is multi-ethnic and holds fast to Christianity
The fifth psalm
Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.
2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.
3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
8 Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.
10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
12 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

Do you think Zelenskyy is an antichrist?
I don’t have enough discernment to say for certain. But I would say he’s likely a type of one. He’s placed the identity of a nation in the place of God. Anti means “in place of or instead of”…
@@living_orthodox In my opinion, I feel like his persecution of our holy Orthodox Church and how the World adores and defends his actions solidifies to me a certain type of Anti Christ.
I would argue that it’s not the nation he’s making an idol out of, but himself. The nationalism is simply the vehicle by which he can exalt himself-as a savior figure, a blasphemous, worldly perversion of the Messiah. He doesn’t really care about the goyim he sends to the meat grinder; he runs a PR campaign so he can get worshipped by the global media and parade around for the cameras in his army clothes. In my opinion he’s a total narcissist, who is motivated primarily by money and power, and is only loyal to his actual nation, his tribe. A people whose very identity is antichrist. Because they reject the Redeemer.

Why did Francis even meet the dancer president of Ukraine
I have Ukrainian Catholic (uniate) friends who are either from Ukraine or are affiliated with Ukrainian Catholicism and unfortunately many support Zelensky while maintaining ultranationalist sentiments. One of my friends who is actually a Ukrainian Catholic seminarian told me that he finds that the identity politics that most Ukrainians believe in extremely disturbing and is probably their biggest blind spot of an issue.
All these heresy's and divisions are setting the stage for the coming Anti-Christ.

I consider myself politically as Serbian ethno nationalist who wants to see the true nature of my nation and how it should look like, i see that in icon of Saint Sava the Serbian, saint Sava as a historical figure is usually the torn in the eye of other nationalists of neighbouring countries that in history used to be same biologically, still is linguistically and by faith as us, most of Serbian nationalists think that way, also that nationalism of mine actually drove me back to orthodox christian faith and interest in history, i dont believe nationalism is ideology of hate that droive us to heresy, but of love for our kind and by that love actually understanding our national enemies, so what i am? i am not appologetic to zelensky in this context, but in meaning of ethnophiletism, what is actually boundary between that herresy and actual love for our country and nation, many accuse Serbs as being ethnophiletic, but still being genuine orthodox by its clergy, what is there actuall heressy and what is the healthly thinking, maybe i am heretic by that way, i simply wanna know what is good and what is bad in this situation. Or maybe i'm just a fool...

Why? There must be a better way to memorialise a loss like that suffered by mothers in Ukraine. This is so wrong on so many levels.
The mind of a Jew is that of a demon, I really don't understand the minds of demons.
Yes, I believe the war has started to negatively effect Zelenskys mental health. I believe that he is becoming paranoid, and since Russia has unfortunately politicized the Orthodox Church, he has become very distrustful of it, and since he's not a Christian, he likely doesn't consider that Christianity is not about the Christians, but about the Christ. We should pray that he repents of his sin and sees the Truth. And we should even pray for Putin, to repent of his war. And pray for all the people of the world to return to God.

America and Nato were behind replacing Ukraine's president.

Powerful comment! Thank you!
It's a shame too, both from desecration of the word of God and because doing that gives false ideas like "modern jews are like ancient jews" more perceived validity. Big difference tho: Hitler wasn't a modern jew. Zelensky is, which makes this a million times worse.

You're repeating falsehoods spread by the OSS (The predecessor to the CIA) for propaganda purposes. Whether unknowingly or not you're validating the very foundations of the post-1945 Liberal system that you suffer under. Read what Fr. Dumitru Staniloae and many other Orthodox clergy locked up with him by the Communists had to say about this time in history.
Same of the Bolsheviki to a larger scale. Many were Jewish.
@@LadyMaria Certainly all the pens writing their propaganda were in jewish hands, even based on their own stats.
Zelensky is Jewish. He is FAR removed from the church.
Isnt zelensky jewish anyways
My goodness, that icon. There's something about it that deeply unsettles me. I don't mean to sound conspiratorial, but I feel like that can't just be an accident they made with symbolism. If Zelensky did not know what he was doing. Something not of the flesh did.
He knew he was blotting out Christ in the icon.
I saw a video recently on UTube a Catholic video and it is about this Icon given to Pope Francis Catholics definitely see it as an insult to Pope Francis and Catholics and Orthodox.

The True Nationalist’s God is Christ. All of our Saints and Elders support Patriotism in its proper order, in submission to Christ
Of which the nationalism of Zelensky is not.
@Jeffrey Howard
Z e l e n sky understands perfectly well that as Orthodox we venerate our icons, so he chose to offend and desecrate an image of Christ and His mother.

History shows the Orthodox Church throughout the world having a problem with the politicization of the faith. Us Protestants have sometimes failed at this as well. But we must go back to the Word of God and continue reforming.
The body of Christ requires no "reforming" by men. It is eternal.
The only reforming we need is repentance, not a Protestant concept of reforming.
@@ChristianHagood The body of Christ must be purified here on earth not by men but by our Lord through His Spirit and Word. The churches in Asia Minor needed to repent or their lampstands would be removed. Read Revelation 2-3.
