    This took a few weeks last summer to create, it wasn't until recently I had permission from the creator to edit his work and post it. I'll link his channel below, again thank you RK316 for allowing me to edit your amazing AE86 to use as a baseline to create what I perceived as my own more accurate version. I hope everyone here can enjoy this car as much as I do.
    Download: drive.google.com/drive/folder...
    To install this, steam -- assetto corsa -- rightclick -- properties -- installed files -- browse -- content -- cars -- drag mod into the cars folder. NOTE: I am pretty confident you will need the content manager shader patch to run this. I am not sure if this works on vanilla assetto corsa as I haven't tried.
    *If you use my mod in a video please in some form mention this video or my channel, apart from that enjoy! Feel free to also edit the mod to your liking if you know how.

    Fujiwara's vehicle's gear configuration and suspension were set according to the course, his engine characteristics were set according to the opponent he was facing, 4th stage when he was going against Joshima, his car's true potential was unlocked, making maximum power at 11k rpms, in final stage, his car made maximum power at 11k rpms, but ryosuke strictly instructed him to stay at 9k rpms cuz if didn't, he'll damage the engine sooner cuz the rev limiter was removed and he told him to use the high revolution zone only when needed, shinji isn't the fastes opponent of takumi, it was Joshima, but shinji was the toughest opponent for takumi, as he knew the brake points and the fastest lines perfectly, and it was very hard to copy those points for funiwara, cuz he was barely able to get the experience on the course. So its hard to get exact gear config and engine characteristics of hiscar because his car isn't a perfect battle machine and needs serious tuning to compete on different course, but we can take what was used the most
    (this is my observations of his car in different races)

    • @StaticsMan
      @StaticsMan  Před 2 měsíci +11

      I think you are correct and I didn't mention it in the video but basically what I noticed through my hours of testing this car over the summer was there was a ton of conflicting data with the car. So what I ended up doing was just taking stuff that was very clearly shown and kind of made it an average for all courses (mainly Akina) so that the car can be raced on most if not all mountain passes. I think for what it's worth I made the car pretty accurate to the story (within reason).

      Shinji was toughest because he was gentle with tires. Basically, Takumi faced the same opposition as his previous rivals. He had lighter car and thus was able to bring more speed into the corners. Shinji, from his side, had tried to maintain stable average speed with less braking and accelerations. This, and absense of drift helped him to save tires, while Takumi started to struggle midrace.
      Also, before battle with Shinji Ryosuke limited power output on 9k. Engine was able to rev higher but power will not increase so Takumi had almost the same engine as Shinji but with hidden "extention for gear". As we remember, before 9k this engine is not powerful at all and "even worse than old engine", after engine swap Takumi could not understand why people around so excited about it. So Takumi faced fast and more accurate driver on almost the same car.
      Takumi had enough expirience on this course and more expirience in racing than Shinji, Takumi won cuz he was able to break the rhythm of Shinji and put him into uncomfortable for him position of racing side by side. After engine blow Shinji was lost also by absence of expirience and Project D fairly mentioned this after the race.
      But about changing of gears you're right, different gearsets for different tracks.

    • @ReaperAce16
      @ReaperAce16 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@Takahashi_KoutaI think u forgot that the mid range torque was increased, which was definitely 215+ hp, when he was first got the engine, it wasn't tuned like that, it was made so that max hp which was 255 considering the engine was inspired by Akira iid's ae86's group a 4age at 11k rpms, ryosuke later changed the characteristics of his car, to match the opponent's car, he mainly used 11k rpms in most of the project d races, but it was fifth stage when he mainly used the max power at 9krpms, and other range is for the acceleration, also, Takumi drives exactly like shinji, at akina, but faster and the movements being faster and quicker, and more pro-like that's why his tires weren't wore out when he was going against ryosuke at akina, Fujiwara zone is basically the parts of course which represents akina, there he can really go 100% and get the cornering speeds faster/equal to shinji's, shinji basically was 1st stage Takumi, at akina. U can see manga for references, his lines are many times looks like shinji's, that's fujiwara zone. In the near end of the race, he really had better and faster cornering, but his tires were wore out cuz he wasn't used to most of the course, but it was the end, he had the absolute advantage, but only because of his tires he understeered and he got passed, honestly shinji us worse than Takumi, cuz literally all times he passed him, it was due to a bump which disrupted his pace. Also shinji's car at least had 200hp, considering it was rally tuned, and the fact it kept up very well on the fast sections of the course. So they were pretty much equal on power.

      @@StaticsMan I wouldn't worry about the gear ratios so much as the show isn't consistent in how it animates tachometers anyway, but I do recall the Todo school pro racer saying Takumi took the happo hairpins in first. After that, czcams.com/video/RPee1gm1NsM/video.htmlsi=XjWVH9q1vwL4aqH7&t=106 is is probably the best look at ratios 2-4 (~71% the previous). Yours seem about that far apart, except I think it would make more sense if your 1st gear is swapped out for a super long highway gear. This car was still Takumi's daily driver afaik, and I imagine Takumi didn't have to rev all the way to 5.5k every time he gets on the highway. But for just the mountain pass, I think what you did is great.
      I'm impressed by all the details there are to get each era of car as faithful as possible to the show, from the gauges to even weight and suspension.

    Gear ratios listed are:
    1st - 3.236
    2nd - 2.145
    3rd - 1.539
    4th - 1.167
    5th - 0.936
    Final Drive - 4.300
    It also listed the weight of both the factory 86 as well as the modified Shigeno 86, at 940kg and 825kg respectively

    Thats new information to me about the 9k rpm rev limit set by Ryosuke for the later stages. I always had the impression they stuck to the same rev limit all the time.
    That said. I did made the engine in a game called Automation. A Car building simulator game. As it has the engine building section. The 4AGE only makes peak power at around 10k rpms and beyond 11k rpm the power band starts falling off. But makes a hell of a noise straight piped.
    The silvertop and blacktop has VVT on the intake valves so it prob make sense they tuned the valves to open early for more torque down low and sacrificed the top end power. Not to mentioned they also prob played with the jetting on the 4 carbs.
    There was a picture floating around the internet showing a 4AGE 20V silvertop with 4 shiny carbs which is the inspiration for the Group A engine. Although actual 4AGE that could rev all the way to 11k rpms are only 16V not the 20V.
    I didnt expect you to factor in the gear ratios. But yea in the arcade game i always noticed the gear ratios differs from track to track. Akina Lake being taller for more top speed. And the closer ratios for tighter tracks.
    When Bunta first installed the racing engine. I presummed he never changed the gear ratios of the gearbox so the racing engine with the stock gearbox on paper should now behave like a close ratio. And 4th gear is the 1:1 ratio and the 5th gear being the Overdrive.
    Dori king's AE86 comes into mind since he swapped out the 5th gear and instead put a 3.5 gear and made the 4th gear the final gear ratio.
    The final battle with Shinji. Both Takumi and Ryosuke took the risk and removed the rev limit on the 4AGE to gain the upper hand in terms of top speed. Takumi downshift to the 4th gear and rev it all the way until over 12k rpm without knowing the engine speed was his oversight in his part as well since he used the blind attack on Shinji which also turns off the instruments. The poor engine suffered Valve float and the belt prob snapped under the high load causing the valve to smash into the pistons jamming the engine altogether causing the lock up. But because he had experienced the engine failure before. He pressed the clutch and prevented the engine from further lock up of the drivetrain and going into reverse and winning the race backwards. While Shinji panicked during Takumi spin out and lost the race.
    Good research on your part. Cheers

      Silvertop comes with ITBs those are injectors( your theory is not far off thou,just a more modern iteration of dry sump 16v builds in the early 90's), but still damn near inaccessible to the public before 1997, it's when the blacktop released with the MAP sensor instead of the transitional MAF sensor that tuners all hopped onto the 20v bandwagon. Also, don't overlook that one extra valve count and oversquare rod ratio compared it's contemporaries of that era, with a TRD 305' cam, the 20v could still output steadily up to 11.5k. In regards of the final drive it's either TRD 4.7 or 5.01 final drive gear after the Gr.A Silvertop swap. Also, the silvertop is a non-interference engine, the blacktop is.

    • @farhansuhaime
      @farhansuhaime Před 2 měsíci +1

      The 20V engine from the show is heavily inspired by Akira Iida's Perfect AE86. He also deleted the VVT device (mentioned by Iketani in 2nd Stage) as they use aftermarket cam pulleys to achieve those crazy revs. Even the detuned to 9000 rpm also was replicated.

I don’t think I’m going to change it since everyone’s downloading this now and I didn’t get it right the first time. I’d say it’s also close enough like I think my car is only off by like a 1000rpm. Good catch though!

    A long note for the gear ratio of the Silvertop Group A engine used in the AE86 from Initial D. In Stage 4 Episode 6 in the Initial D series, Takahashi Ryosuke decided to use Takumi Fujiwaras AE86 to drive against the Honda Civic Type R EK9 driven by Tomoyuki Tachi a pro racer. Everyone expected that Project D (Takahashi Ryosukes Team with Takumi and his AE86 in it) would choose the Mazda RX7 FD3S driven by Takahashi Keisuke since the time-attack-race was to be driven on "Happogahara" a course that is familiar to the Honda driver. The course offers challenging turns in an changing Up and Downhill battle. The Honda Civic Type R EK9 was tuned to stay longer in each gear to be able to challenge the RX7 on the fast Straight and Uphill parts of the course giving up a bit off speed in the corners. After Tomoyuki passed the AE86, the Honda Driver thought that he would easily outrun the AE86 since they entered the fastest part of the course, yet the AE86 was able to easily stay with him in the turns. The Honda Civic driver realised that he wasnt able to outrun him because I quote (rougly translated, I tried) "He is still behind me ... I didnt expect that. For the race against the FD, we changed the gear ratio for the fast straight sections. ... the change in gear ratio isnt optimal for the slow turns of the uphill. ... it becomes more obvious in the uphill turns, that the AE86´s gear ratio has been changed to suit corners. When I have to change into second in the turn, he still stays in first gear."
    I really love your video about this this is why I wrote this whole Bible book long message. I hope I was able to give you more info, because this project of yours is truly awesome and it really made me get a little excited, the detail and effort is on point and I couldnt find any other person having made such a refined version of the mod. This really made me excited about the whole of Initial D and I hope it didnt sound rude or too nerdy.

    • @StaticsMan
      @StaticsMan  Před 2 měsíci

      Nope and that's why I did it because I no one else has put in this amount of effort so I've found. Many people comment that Gran Turismo Variant is right version but through my testing I don't think so. I think it's also hinted in the anime and manga like you said that the gear ratios would most likely be adjusted per race so it's kinda impossible to figure out what they used, and no sane person will make a variant for every episode lol. But anyways I ended up using gear ratios taken from the final stage of initial d as shown in my video. It's also not mentioned in the video but shortly after I found another clip of RPM/Speed of Takumi's car and it was something like 8k rpm at 105kph which is also roughly what my mod achieved so I think it's pretty accurate. Thank you for your comment, it was not too nerdy, everyone in this comment section is a big nerd, including me :)

    Hey just some notes, like the mod, reminds me of an older mod from like 2019 or 2020 but this looks way better, in fifth stage with the rollcage, there was also an FRP hatch with acrylic glass, you may want to factor in the weight savings there, in addition for the torque curve in 2nd, 3rd stage, you can refer to a scene from the credits of 3rd stage, Ryosuke has open a laptop with a torque curve from Takumi's engine and perhaps you can take some influence from that, however by fourth stage i wouldn't count on that anymore, as project D would likely set up the engine as needed, there's good accessible ways to tweak power out of a motor like that such as changing trumpet length, in addition the 9k rpm version shouldn't be rev limited, rather have a gradual decrease in power over 9k, and then sharply decreases over 10k, great work and I hope we can see even more improvements!

    • @StaticsMan
      @StaticsMan  Před 2 měsíci

      Good criticisms although I want to respectfully disagree on a few things. As a disclaimer I’m not saying I’m anymore right than you and I’m just stating my opinion. And the fact of the matter is we will never know what the true specs of this car is until the creator makes it known. Anyhow:
      1) I honestly didn’t touch the weight too much and left it at whatever the mod I referenced in that pinned comment was. I think another argument that could be made too is even though he has the frp hatch in 5th stage he also added a roll cage which would be extra weight and affect some of the weight savings.
      2) I’m not going to lie I can’t even remember the laptop scene so I don’t have much to say on the tuning there. I kinda went with the dialogue from the show and adjusted the output characteristics to match what I felt was optimal for Akina (which ends up working for most tracks). I feel the tuning could be tweaked a tiny bit to be better but overall it’s fine as is.
      3) The 9k rpm I do recall was actually limited to 9k rpm. At least that’s how I interpreted it in the manga and in the anime. There were many scenes of him driving with the tach stuck at 9k and it even mentions it was set at 9k in the clip in my video. In all honesty though I kinda just made that variant for shits and giggles and wanted to see how it drove.
      I don’t really plan to update this mod unless the creator actually releases the information or I made a very large mistake which from most people are telling me is pretty minor. A lot of the initial d mods for Takumi’s car have the gear ratios set really long so I’m pretty glad this was the one thing I got almost right. I appreciate you watching my video and sharing your thoughts! :)

    • @StaticsMan
      @StaticsMan  Před 2 měsíci

      Ok I just remembered why I did what I did for the tuning. (This mainly applies for staged 2-4). I did look at the dyno graph you mentioned and it looked fine but there’s a contradiction. In the scene at 5k rpm it makes around 150hp. However that’s around the same output the old 4AGE made. This is a contradiction because in second stage Takumi struggled with the car because he was shifting too early at 8k rpm which implies the power is way lower in that power band. This makes sense because that’s the nature of high revving motors. It was also described that at around 7-8k rpm the engine began to build a lot of power but Takumi couldn’t use it because he was shifting too early. That’s why for stages 2-4 I tuned it based off of that claim and assumed it stayed that way till stage 5. Again I made a lot of assumptions but I feel like they’re all pretty justified based off of how little is known about this car. Hell we’re literally looking at random scenes right now lol. But I also wanted to be realistic about this car and make it actually drivable/enjoyable. A lot of scenes similar to the one you showed me led to the car having really weird handling and awkward gears which didn’t even make sense to have on a car like that. So essentially what I did was compile everything I knew about initial d, racing, and tuning to make this mod. Sorry for yapping sm, I just found your points interesting to discuss lol

      @dagreat201 Před 2 měsíci

      one more thing as well I forgot to mention, now looking closer at your 5th stage torque curve I think it should be accurate anyways, in 2nd-4th stage you can obviously see in engine shots that there is no VVT gear, wheras in 5th/final stage engine shots particularly the manga, the VVT gear is present which can be used to achieve results like that

If you're struggling with the 5th stage car I wouldn't recommend going to the 4th stage or 2-3 stage variants because those will have a dramatic increase in power after like 7k rpm and make peak power at 11k. They're a lot less forgiving but really dial you in. You could try practicing with the first stage car for like an hr or two to get a feeling of the cars and then maybe work your way up. From what I’ve been reading (ignored the anime) they would be like a bit better than the average serious track racer, but not significantly faster. with a custom one-off splice counter final drive gear that flattens the powerband enough for staying 3rd gear throughout Akina, instead of 2nd. that make it a 4.1 final drive.
    3. Engine: Hybrid style 4.5A-GEU build
    kouki Redtop "shortrib" block, bored to 83mm, making it a 1.7l, CA18DE high comp piston, HKS high degree cams: 256In Ex156 and your conventional "S̶o̶l̶e̶x̶ Tako Dual" mods. One point to watch out for is that despite the kouki swap, Bunta is still running the notorious outlawed Zenki ECU (SR5 owners will know ^-^ ). chipped and still running T-VIS. on paper it might just up output 150hp, but the torque and power delivery characteristics this set-up produces is literally a Toruqe machine Meta-build for Akina.
    So next time don't ever say Takumi's AE86 is a shitbox again, because it's unfair for other drivers. For the amount of money put under the hood of that AE-86 Bunta could've purchased 2 FD RX-7 with it. (Roughly 4 to 5 million JPY around 1996 not accounted for inflation.)
