    I purchased a new 530d G31 M sport about 2 years ago and I can honestly say its probably one of the best cars I have owned, I've covered over 25,000 miles and it has performed flawlessly.
    I would highly recommend the diesel over the petrol any day of the week, the 530d MSport is a true drivers car in my opinion.

      I owned the 530d and honestly, it sucks. Switched to 540i - that's the way to go! Diesel era is over.

    I tried watching this three times last night in bed...it’s far better than counting sheep...I have saved it to aid sleep in my stressful life....calming relaxing 😌

    I can`t remember another video I`ve watched to have gone that imperceptibly. When it ended I had to check if it was really ending. I`m a little sleepy atm, but your voice was so calm and everything was so smooth, thumbs up, great videos. I`m glad I found this channel

    Very well made and an objective review: Thanks !
    I'd just mention; and this applies to all manner of these kinds of tests, it's the standard equipment (seats and the like) which we all want to hear about, not the (often hugely) more expensive optional extras. And yes, I realise that that's on the cars they provide you with.

    I drive the 530i, and this is the quietest car I ever have ever driven!

    Hi ! Thanks for the extremely clear speech quality in this video. Even the tiniest hint of music detracts in practice, I find.
    You ask which model we might choose; well I'd certainly choose the 530i for diverse reasons, both from personal choise as regarding the fiscal side (where I live in the Netherlands 🇳🇱).
    You already mention yourself in this video, a large difference in price coupled with the lighter, more sprightly qualities of the 530i.
    Many countries, and individual towns even, are coming down very heavily on diesels causing them to become less and less practical in use, ignoring the incredible advances that have been made recently in diesel motor technology.
    In Germany 🇩🇪, for example, dealers are sitting on more than 4 billion Euro 💶 value of young second-hand diesel cars that suddenly nobody wants to buy !
    I also have a couple of remarks, if I may ? -
    An M-sport version of either would very much improve the instability point you mention, and equally so, were one to choose (in my opinion is one of these two options absolutely essential) either BMW Dynamic Damper Control on an ordinary version of the car, or Full Dynamic Suspension on an M-sport version, (which includes BMW Dynamic Damper Control), every tiny comment you make about the ride would be rectified. .
    I myself would always choose the standard wheel size (here 17“), however, with either of these Dynamic Suspension/Damping systems, apparently even 20“ wheels will cause no problems (yes, even on pot-holes.
    Lastly, never once during this video do you mention the XDrive system, available on both these cars. This absolutely perfected 4 wheel drive system enhances enormously the safety margins and handling characteristics of this new G30 5 Series (with the exception the very bottom of the range cars).
    Friendly greetings from Greg.

    I wish sun shades were standard on all cars, the amount of times i'm blinded sitting in the front passenger because of the sun shining directly in my eyes. Sadly i'm VERY unlikely to ever be able to afford one of these cars.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  Před 7 lety +2

      +astrogen1960 Not so badly actually on these nappa seats. I've found that BMW Dakota and Merino leather seats mark really, really quickly if you wear jeans.

    • @astrogen1960
      @astrogen1960 Před 7 lety +1

      That's interesting. The light seats always look great when new and stay cooler in the sun, but their maintenance always make me think twice. Maybe these would be worth a try. Thank you, Sir!

    Different type of review Tom, i thought it wasn't a bad idea, you can review two or more cars at once. Just one question (it's slightly dumb), will you and jake do a review together down the line at some point for a comparison or something?

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  Před 7 lety +1

      +Johnathan Lynn Thanks! I figured that it might help to explain the benefits of two of the popular grades of this car in one review. Yes, we'll definitely try that in future!

    is called 530i but is 2.0 L4...
    at least diesel version dont cheat and is really 3 liters 6L
    and 65k EUR become 120k AUD

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  Před 7 lety +2

      Yeah. The problem is that they have so many 2.0-litre fours that not every car can be called 20i.

      In fact the Oz Dollar 💵 A$121,600.= he mentions for the 530d, is exactly €81,564.40 in Euro.

    why you would want to make the interior black I don't know, at least to my eyes the light and bright seating looks far more premium than standard black or grey.

      They are expensive cars but unlike many of their rivals, the BMW has a generous amount of standard kit. Compare the 530i to the Mercedes-Benz E300, for example. The BMW's spec is a fair bit higher.
