thank you very much for your videos on the mini. I used to play recorders in my youth (was actually rather good, played in school orchestras etc.) Haven't done any playing for ages now (I'm almost 60 years old now). But now I bought the AE-01 and it is really nice to play. I'm still in the process of getting aquainted with the instrument, my fingers are a bit "rusty", but it is real fun! Please excuse my English, it isn't my first language.

I've been a musician for 30 plus years and a Hollywood songwriter. I'm also a singer. I play multiple instruments. It's just hard to find the time to practice and play. With the digital instruments that are available today, I can finally speed up the process of creating music that doesn't take hours and hours of time. I have a media company and I'm putting together some digital songs to make that part of my branding in the near future.

I just saw an ad for Aerophone Mini a few days ago. I used to play saxophone when a teenager. I currently play organ, piano, and keyboard. (I play for my church.) I also used to have a Casio Digital Horn which quit working many years ago. My mother decided to purchase the Areaphone Mini for my birthday in July. It will be hard to wait to try it for 2.5 months. Since I am in the U.S., I don't know if it will come with conical mouth piece or the one with the plastic reed. I'm sure either will be fine. Thanks for both videos reviewing the instrument.

As a follow up, mine arrived yesterday. Since I won't "officially" get it until my birthday in July, I did test it to make sure it worked. Everything seems to work. I tried it with the speakers that I use for my keyboard. The on-board sounds are MUCH better that way than through the small built-in speaker. I think I will enjoy the instrument since I will mainly use it for "fun" and maybe a little playing at church or something. Mine did come with the conical mouthpiece. I think this is standard in the U.S. Would you recommend purchasing the AE-05 mouthpiece?

But I've got a question: how are you recording the built in sound of the aerophone mini (or those of its app) in such a good quality? Are you connecting it to a computer via USB and then recording with a DAW software like midi? Could you please explain it to me, it would be very kind of you ! I find the build in sounds very good and it would be sad if I couldn’t record them or having to buy an another virtual instrument software... Waiting for your answer, and best regards :)

Nice little instrument (or should I say “device”?)
My only criticisms are that IMHO it should come with many more than just six built-in synthetic instrument sounds and at $300US it’s fairly expensive. One other thing: Roland should make it easier for prospective buyers to learn what the additional sounds that are available via the app are.
Still, what a fun way to have the ability to play music wherever you go without having to carry a much bulkier traditional instrument!

I'm really tempted to get one of these. I started learning the Sax a couple of years ago so have some basic skills already. A couple of questions. Do you have to put the same amount of blowing effort into the mouthpiece. I ask this as I'm a little asthmatic and had trouble with the sax. Also does the level of blowing effort translate into the amount of volume produced? i.e the more you blow the louder it gets?

I’m embarrassed to say I don’t thoroughly know all the fingerings on the recorder but I have been teaching this system on the acoustic saxophone for nearly 40 years. To the best of my knowledge the clarinet in its upper register, the flute and the recorder all use a very similar if not identical system for the main seven notes fingering.Of course the sharps and flats will have variations for each instrument and do not use the same system with the little finger that the aerophone Mini has.

I have a 12 year old (alto sax) and 14 year old (clarinet) player. I've asked them to introduce my EWI 5000 instrument to their teachers. I'd like to work toward integrating electronic wind instruments into the middle and high school music curriculum.
Does the mini work with SWAM or other soft syntchs?
With more remote COVID driven schooling the EWI or Aerophone could be a great way to keep music alive.
    With this in mind,
    1. Is there anyone who gives lessons on the EWI for a young person (or adult...)?
    2. Do you have any recommendations as to which wind controller may be best for a younger person with slightly smaller hands. Moderate Budget in mind.
    3. Are you aware of anyone who is working with their school system on a similar project to introduce wind controllers as a legitimate substitute for acoustic instruments. If so, I'd like to connect with them.

Yes the Mini would work with SWAM but of course you have some limitations in the expression due to no lip control.
There are people around who can give lessons but like me they are probably quite full with their teaching schedules.
The Aerophone AE-05 would be a great choice for younger player or possibly the Akai SOLO.

Where do you connect it...what kind of connection?

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  Před 4 lety

You can connect in three ways. Theres bluetooth to connect to a computer or other device. Theres audio out to go straight to a speaker and theres USB to connect to a computer or device. I do have a video on the AE-05 that covers connections. The AE-01 works in the same way.

Hi. It works just like a keyboard so you can connect the audio out of the aerophone directly into your interface or use it as a midi controller to control sample instruments within your DAW.
