- This is a review of the RIB Altair campervan bed that we install as standard into our campervan conversions. This bed is 1120mm wide and has Isofix points, armrests, headrests and 3d overlay comfort foam.

Nice one, just what i needed to know/see re: the sliding option.
I've got the same Rib Altaire bed, professionally fitted in my van, with no arm rests. The cushioning on the seat on one side seems to be separating inside, into what looks like two cushions, now sliding over each other under the outer material. It now looks stepped inside. Not pleased, considering how expensive it was.
When the seat is flat in bed mode, it's a good time to mention the length and width or lie on it to demonstrate.
Agreed! I watched through to the end and saw that it is 1120mm wide X 1820mm long.

This wasn’t so much of a review as it was a demonstration. I was hopping to hear how good/bad it feels to lay on
important question for science: when it's in the position its in at 1:51 (or 1:56), can you also slide it back? basically creating a chaiselongue while keeping more space inside the van? not sure if that question makes sense, sorry. It's just that if you could slide it back, and also fold the foot end (on the video the bit on the right) down beyond the horizontal, then you could make a sort of sofabed without having to change the sheets or do too much folding.
Can this fit in a 2020 Ford transit?? Also, can you have this flush against the wall??

Is there any reason these couldn't be installed as driver's seats (as long as handbrake was located in the front dash)? Seems like it would be a good way to maximise use of the dead space created by the front driver's seats.
You wouldn't be able to fold it down completely flat if it was in the front cab, it would hit the dash very quickly. The Altair is designed to save space at the back of a van which is why it slides forwards before folding out so it's compact when stowed but still a full bed when unfolded. Considering how much an Altair costs you could buy a poptop with a roof bed for about the same price, if you're concerned about interior space.
Would like to know if this great design will fit a 2003 Chrysler mini van. Please reply
Thanks for the video and information. We're just buying a van and having this bed fitted but I have a question that I'm sure somebody will be able to help me out with. Can you sleep with your head at either end or does it make a difference? I know that this may sound daft to most of you, but as we're new to this, we just wondered? Thanks and please be kind.

With the bed folded out can you safely sit on the foot of the bed or is it not strong enough?
I wanted to know the same thing, it seems a weak point as when the bed is down you would have to shuffle down to the foot end to get up, it doesn't look like it would take the weight of an adult.
I have a 20yr old RIB bed in my campervan. It is more than strong enough to sit on the end.
@@Daz555Daz Looks like a lot of leverage on the hinge mechanism though.
@@ronpalmer1371 it does yes. But given mine has survived 20 years so far I'd say its fine. Assuming modern RIB beds are as good as old ones of course!
