Don’t forget to subscribe for more videos about CORNWALL and Falmouth I sometimes visit St Ives Cornwall and Padstow Cornwall too. Come here for everything from travel recommendations to beach reviews such as Perranporth Beach Cornwall. I also LOVE EXPLORING Cornwall’s coast line and the South West Coastal Path. Thank you for watching and commenting and liking the video.
Sorry about the issues you faced but can I just say, as someone who crochets, I LOVE your blanket!!!
Thanks my mum made it
As a mechanic and mot tester my opinion would be buy a Toyota Hiace not the biggest van but they are bulletproof we he ave a fleet of 8 that come in everyone of them over 300,000 miles with nothing major went wrong just usual servicing
Watching this so long after it was recorded. Really hope things ate fully sorted and that you had a great Christmas and have a fantastic 2023.
Awww man, feeling for you Shaun!! Hope it’s not too serious or costly! Glad you made it into the water tho’ & had a nice toasted sandwich, gonna invest in one of those for my rig! Thanks for keeping it real! Much love to your growing family which I’m sure you were so happy to return to & warm up with after all the challenges!🔥❤️🎄🥰✨🕊️🙏
Thank you Deborah 😊
Oh I so can feel for you! I have been wanting to do the Vanlife thing here in the states for a while. I have been downsizing and getting rid of so many things that I have collected over 50 years time. I had been looking for a SUV and finally after about 10 months found one that I could afford with lower mileage and was all wheel drive. I had it less than two weeks and it did this to me. I was in the turn lane of a busy road to the airport. After towing I was told I needed a new engine! Believe me I shed many tears and it’s is in the garage now too being fixed! 😢 It’s just a sit back though! One of the many lessons I learn from this journey called life. I’m so grateful I wasn’t in the middle of nowhere…because I was leaving for Ohio that night with my 81 year old mom.! Blessings to you and yours!
Vans can be a nightmare can’t they
I think ‘vanlife’ means being independant and selfsupportive for starters…..
So your van being your ‘everything’ probably means you need to be more than half a mechanic yourself!!
The newer vans are increasingly complicated and it’s modern electronics are a science on their own…
My advice: look for an oldtimer van and make sure you know your stuff about fixing it!!
Ive been in my van since march 2022.its not technically a camper but has a full-size bed, toilet and night heater.everything else i just wing but something that really bugs me is trying to find places to park up,out the way, away from ppl.ive lost count of the number of times police have been phoned to do a welfare check on me because the public see the van & half an hour after im settled in my bed,the police arrive.yes its good that they do a job BUT for goodness sake, wait until the van has been sitting for an extensive amount of time,at least 24 hours,THEN phone police 🤦🏼♀️
Sorry about the van, its good to see that you stay positive even when things are negative. Loved the drone shots, hopefully you van will be fixed and ready to go soon.
Thank you
great video shaun , hoped you've warmed up! , ive just bought a transit cover , the aa is must I'm thinking for mine too , you never know when they could help out in a tough spot , ill be on the road soon , looking forward to the adventure and freedom 😀
Hey Shaun, great little video again mate. Taking your van to Halfords was your first mistake, and I must say that sandwich looked amazing so much so I’m cooking one the same as I watch this video, hopefully your van will be repaired soon and it won’t cost you to much mate. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks Jon.l but yea Halfords definitely did me over with this one thankfully I’ve got breakdown cover 😂
This is the second video that I'm watching today and is about van breakdown before Christmas. Hope all get sorted out soon!
These things always seem to happen when you don’t want them too
Great down to earth content showing the reality that not all goes well. Hope you're on the road again soon! Oh and that wee toastie grill looks the dogs doodahs👍
Thanks Stewart. 👍
Also the sandwich toaster is on my website for more information.

I’m that committed to watching all your videos that I’ve had to sit down and watch this one while Amy does all the tidying up.
Poor Amy
.. .. my maid is called Amy as Well... 🤔..
Who tf is Amy? You say “Amy” like we know who you or she is.
@@MrRahimhosein Shaun knows who both of us are, the comment was for him not you. But perhaps if you don’t know who either of us are… just ignore the comment.
@@brendonparamor3524 sorry no, it's on a public forum for literally the whole world to see & comment on as they see fit. If you want to do something private don't do it here.
Great video ,and the time it must take to put together amazing, compulsory watching ,thankyou for sharing your adventures
Thank you glad you’re enjoying the videos
Love your videos I'm getting lots of ideas I'm getting a similar van thanks to u buddy
Sorry to hear of all the woes, a real pain in the rear, hope nothing too bad with the van - and I'll start a gofundme for your bobble hat, Shaun !
Seriously though, love to you and Kate. x
Thanks mate
For everything going wrong, you kept a good attitude. I just found your videos. I subscribed. Looking forward to fun adventures
You just have the coolest adventures. Thank you again for sharing.
I feel for you. My van is about to fail and I'm driving it very sparingly and hoping I don't end up on the side of the road.
Love the set up..... enjoy!!
Great video again Shaun really love the van life adventures. That steak sandwich looked super tasty . The view is amazing to wake up to and surf looked nice and clean no option but to go in. Really unlucky with the van hope its back on the road soon. Also camera trouble while filming is so frustrating. Mine froze on me while snorkeling at would you believe Praa Sands. Thanks again Shaun for entertaining us with your top channel.
Cheers Nigel. Maybe Praa hates GoPros 🤔 😂
The quality of your cinematography never ceases to improve. Spectacular!
Thanks Adam
Arh the joys of motoring....things only ever go wrong when using them 🤔 fingers crossed your van gets sorted and you are out on the road again soon. Merry Christmas🌲
Merry Christmas
Know that feeling all too well. 😬
Speedy recovery with your van! 🙏🏻
Thanks John
Fingers crossed the van is OK and back with you soon. I remember having trouble with my old Clio when the alternator belt went then exactly a year later the starter motor went too so I know the feeling and it's a pain in the backside
Thank you
@@LoveSundays No problem mate
I did the same kind of thing around Cornwall for a few year's !
Know I'm in the lakes,..... Love the vivaro
Being spontaneous and dealing with issues as they unfold makes for a perfect adventure video. Hope you still have both arms and legs after the repair 😀
Thank you
Totally agree, dealing with challenges is what keeps us feeling alive, if everything was too easy we would get bored.
I killed my transit with condensation running down the windscreen into the electrics . Warning lights came on like Christmas lights and buggerd the ecu and blew the engine up . Cut down on condensation by having plenty of ventilation, cook with lids on pans while the side door is open . And keep wet clothes in a sealed container until they can be dried outdoors. I now have a sprinter and have left the bulkhead in to stop the condensation reaching the windscreen and dripping down the dash . It sort of works .
Great video 👍. Also I’m guessing the alternator has died and possibly damaged the battery at the same time. Common signs of dying alternator are multiple warning lights and electrics acting up and with the battery only being at 10 volts. Also use a good local garage. Halfords garages aren’t very good, good local garage would of diagnosed it right first time 👌😃
I thought the same thing, he should maybe upgrade the alternator to cope with charging the leisure battery too.
Yea the recovery man said it’s the alternator when I asked him about it having to charge the leisure battery too he said it shouldn’t be too much of an problem but I might just get by e garage to put an upgraded one in
@@LoveSundays no mate shouldn’t make much of a difference or any. Lots of vehicles run twin battery set ups and no problems. Get the highest amperage alternator you can and that will do. Also only recently found your channel and worked through watching your videos. Great to watch. Really enjoying it 😆. Good to see the van progress videos as just building a 4x4 up for long distance over-landing myself
Beautiful Praa Sands…..our go to beach as a family for the last almost 100 years! Sorry to see your van troubles but trust all is now well 🤞🏻
Thanks Julie
So sorry your van broke down ( I go to Glassons & they're good as gold there ) . Hope you're back on the road soon, love watching your videos. Keep smiling ☺
Thanks Kathy 😊
Ohhhh noooo! Sad to see you’ve broken down when it took its time to start my partner Lee said it could need new glow plugs. Hope you get it sorted soon, I’ll be gutted for you if you d gone to all the trouble of doing the van out and then it’s fully broken. Fingers crossed. 😊
I’m sure it’ll be alright but like everything in Cornwall if you need a job doing on you can all the garages are pretty busy and can’t even look at it for weeks
Outstanding video it’s my utube go toafter work . Please keep them coming when possible . Such a rubbish time with what’s going on in the world and it’s fun to see your clever filming always puts a smile on our faces 👏
Thanks Ian I appreciate that mate
I’ve got exactly the same model of vivaro that I use for my Gardening business up here in the Peak District. A few weeks back after a period of heavy rain I had all the lights on the instrument binnacle and ‘Engine fault do not drive’ . I decided to chance it and took it steady to home as I was soaked and cold. After a bit of Googling on a Vivaro forum it was recommended to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery and leave it if for approx an hour. This I did and when I reconnected it the issue had gone away and I have had no issues since. The day the problem appeared I had had the lights, wipers, heater, radio on I think this had put a strain on the battery. Hope you get yours sorted. I hope to convert my van when I buy a new one and give it a graceful retirement full of camping trips. Great Videos followed you from the start 👍🏻
Thanks for the advice 😊
I've watched stuff from all ove thr World and its nice to see someone doing this closer to home I live in Newcastle England but will be partaking in this over the next summer you have given me so much food for though thank you for posting your experience. It's invaluable to many of us that are planning on doing this stuff. Proper legend. Hope to see me on your travels this year if you on the road
Thanks for watching!
Very neat n tidy. Sweet set up u got there indeed!
This is usually a charging issue. If you're charging the camera with a USB port, or a USB hub the camera may fail to charge properly. This results in you having a solid red light on your camera and it won't power on until you soft reset the camera (hold down the side mode button for 10 seconds
Thanks for the tips mate. I’ve not used the GoPro since but need to see if I can get it working again
Hopefully that will work
I’ve never watched your vids before very good, I do a bit of auto electrical stuff on the side and did a repair on a vivaro/ primastar and it was the fuse box behind the headlight caught fire due to a high resistant fuse, took nearly everything out. Think it may have been the ABS fuse that caused the fire. Hope you get it sorted!
Love praa sands. We stay there a lot and have also broken down on the way back in the van too! Its not (insert f word) nice. We're in good company. Shine on.
Iv been watching your videos for 3 weeks now. I really do enjoy watching them very entertaining. Keep up the great work
Thank you
Hi ya, don’t know if you’ve sorted the dash lights but thought I’d let you know vivaros are known for there electrical issues one of which is battery in the floor . Try cleaning up all the nuts and bolts on the battery and any others you can get to that are part of the battery system. Hope this helps. Enjoy 👍
Speedy recovery to the van buddy, hopefully you'll be back out soon 😎👍
Thanks Alan
Great video and hope it's all good ☺️
Thank you
Ah shame, hope you get back out on the road soon. Happy Christmas to you and your family 🚐🌲
Thanks Rosy merry Christmas 🎄
Great content again, Shaun.
I really wouldn't be surprised if it is a knackered battery or alternator. Or both multiple dash lights is always a giveaway. Can't wait for the update. Hope your sorted soon bud.
Thanks Lee
Never any question about whether to get in the Sea, especially in a nice location on a nice day like that!
I wonder, why can't you sleep in your car in the first place. What kind of freedom do we live in?
You can in Spain. Thank goodness, otherwise there’d be even more homeless!
Hey Shaun 🙂In my car I've had a 'no faults found' battery check and the week after I needed a new battery cus it died on me. 🤷🏻♂ Be good to see you do a ceiling fan mod and the rest of those bits annoying you. Hope you got the van sorted out 👍🏻
Yea I might need to do a ceiling fan at some point probably in January
Great shot ‘us’ flying out of the van into the shore 😊😂❤great stuff
Thank you
Now that is van life unfiltered!! I will be driving to par next Friday to see about getting a pop top put on iron van so hopefully be smashing a few nights camping somewhere. Judging by the weather forecast I should bring my snowboard haha
It’s definitely cold down here at the moment which is strange for this time of year
@@LoveSundays yeah its the same here in somerset -2 at the moment lows of -4
Man.. nice view and surf session!!
Hope you get the van sorted mate , great video by the way !!
Cheers Adam
Another good video and hope you get your van fixed 👍👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you
Oh no 😢 sorry for you breaking down
Nothing better than tasty hot food to chase away the winter Blues. Damn that sandwich looked awesome 😛💕
Got to love Praa Sands Shaun 👌💝⛱️. Sorry to watch you break down though and hope it's back on the road very soon 🙏🍀. That's why I love watching your videos Shaun...you always keep it real 👌😁✊
Thanks Sally. The way I look at it is all these little problems just make the story more relatable. I could’ve quite easily left out the break down but life isn’t alway perfect is it 😊
Thanks for the honest GoPro review - they definitely have an issue with their batteries. I have a Hero 8 and the GoPro often shuts off at 40%, and I also have to pop the battery out and back in. Sorry to hear about your van. Hopefully it won’t cost too much.
I do love GoPro but they also really annoy me sometimes 😂
Hi great video the electrical fault could be what i mentioned water down the back of the dash i have seen it loads of times. It might be to late now. But try putting a blow heater under the dash get it hot see if it dries things out and the fault lights go. And use the towel when camping. 👍
Yea it could be I hoping it’s just the alternator though should be an easier fix
try the connector under the passenger seat for the airbag and ABS lights. If it comes lose it put the warning light on. I have it with my Vivaro when I rotate the seat round. Cheers, Dave
Thanks for the advice 😊
Very similar problems with my car last winter, turned out to be a duff battery. Warning lights all over the dash, and power steering sometimes wouldn't work. The voltages looked low when the RAC chap was checking with the multimeter. In hindsight I wish I'd the battery before I let them replace the alternator as they figured that was the cause initially. Hope you're back on the road with a cheap bill soon.
My Automatic Car started bucking around when i just got into my Driveway, rang the A.A. when they arrived they used a special Battery Discharge meter... over a number of cycles and their printout told me the battery was goosed and then sold me on the Spot a Heavy Duty High Amp Hour Battery as they carry several different types ... Sorted...
Subject car electrics. You may have water ingress. Also check the tightness of your battery terminals, a loose negative can light up the dashboard. Remove both ( make sure you have your radio code ) clean, add a light coat of Vaseline and reposition terminals. Ensure they are really tight
Thanks for the advice 😊
Love pray sands alot such a stunning beach to be at and lots of walks to do there, hope your van is all fixed now shawn cause without that u will get no where. Keep up the great work and u got my support always.
Thanks mate
A LOT, not ALOT. No such word.
@@LoveSundays No Worry's bro keep up the good work and hope your wife is okay with her baby on the way 🙏
I watched another vanlife one where his passenger side window went through at 3:am while he slept in the back, he released the emergency latch on back door leaped out naked and gave chase as the perp stole a backpack from the front seat. Most amusing bit was the van was locked via key fob and when he leaped out the door shut and auto locked as his keys were in the van. He had to clamber through passenger window to get back in.
I'm so glad you like The Office. I was just thinking there's something very David Brent about your video 🤣. I will have to watch more lol.
Vivaro shares widgets with Renault who's electronics are casual to say the least, if you have been driving extensively in heavy rain, moisture will have messed with the electronics, I would recommend getting an ECU scan and reset at a local garage, but they normally fix themselves after a hot dry spell.
ABS and Air bag light: happened to my skoda, clockspring is faulty ( a sort of ribbon cable that is like a spring round the steering that sort of winds and unwinds on the steering column. I got halfords to do, bad job had to go elsewhere to get steering calibrated.
I have a t4 just love my van and travelling around in it .Everyone has there own choice and of vans but for me it’s the t4 .I wouldn’t want anything else .So Shaun whatever van you get hope you enjoy it and I’m sure you will be telling us what your plans are for it .I’m looking forward to seeing what you get and your plans for it mate .
Ah gutted, never rains but it pours. 🤞 For a better weekend this week. Hopefully the van doesn't cost you a fortune. At least the sandwich and the view were a plus side 🙂. Tremendous video as always. You and Kate looking forward to Christmas?
Thanks Simon
Got to love Praa Sands👍🏻👌🏼
That view really reminds me of Byron Bay in Oz and where you parked up. Used to wake at sunrise, with a coffee watching the surfers and about 9 bottlenose dolphins surfing with them, every morning without fail. bloody lovely....and warm!
Yea I loved Byron bay when I lasted visited in 2012 one of my favourite places in the world
@@LoveSundays Yep me too, before i left the UK I asked an Oz mate i was working with for a recommendation where to visit and he nailed it with Byron Bay...ps hope the van gets sorted.soon.
The universe sends us dramas sometimes to ground us, and make us appreciate the good things.. Love your videos bro!! 😊
Yep a struggle is natures way of strengthening
The abs and air bag lights - usually the seatbelt sensor, have a wiggle of the wires under your seat. Also I have that folding bracket for the table too - try pressing the release button while you lift it up fully and it should open and lock out again 👍
And don't always trust Halfords battery checker... May be a battery fault.
Thanks for the advice
very good guidance and solution. I have the same problem and I solved it the same way
Ah no hope it gets sorted soon mate. Cheers for the video 👍
Thank you
For the gopro you could try holding the power button for about 10 seconds, most devices with built in batteries, perform a forced restart this way.
I know you said the garage already checked it, but it all points to a bad battery (probably a bad cell inside) made worse by cold weather, highly possible the cause for the dash lights too. If you're engine cut out while driving, replace fuel filter (as it might have water in the bottom) this could also be the reason for the engine dash light. I had a Renault Traffic basically the same van, with this issue. Love your videos!
Thanks for the advice
@@LoveSundaysSometimes if the Battery is more than maybe three years old you could be in trouble, once a cell starts to go down things get sketchy and all sorts of Money Lights start to come on....hopefully you will get sorted and that it's something small.
when i get lights on the dash i always find the fix on youtube. great vids be safe
Superb vid mate, shite you broke down though. Have to say the morning part of the vid was the best I’ve seen on any of these little movies. The surfer, the waves, then the kettle whistling and coming into view. Editing is not lost on me and the time it takes to put this shizzle together. Good man. Chin up brother, we’ll a be dead soon! 🤣❤️👍
Cheers Scott that makes me happy that people enjoy my editing because I love the editing part as much as I do the adventure 😂
Great vid, that battery voltage was very low considering youve just been driving. Hence the warming lights reacting to the low voltage. Prehaps a new battery with sort it out if its a original battey from new or alternator packing up
The recovery man said it was the alternator
Great to see the recovery guy towed you off the main road instead of causing a 5 hour tailback like the traffic wombles do with their cones 😂
Yea that’s what I thought much better than trying to fix it at the side of the A30
Love the channel. cant help but think you would really benefit from an extractor fan in the roof so can cook with doors closed. I have the same van as you with a roof rack too, you can get low profile fans that fit perfect and do a great job :).
Yes I 100% agree I’ve just got to get around to fitting one
Hi Shaun, Re your van you need to get it plugged in to a auto computer I had a similar thing on my VW with some light on the dash plugged it in to a computer to find it was a ABS sensor! Worth a try! Keep the vlogs coming! Al
Thanks for the advice 😊
What a shame and a bad end to a perfect night out, I had exactly the same van and also had electrical problems with warning lights coming up, mainly due to short runs out in the van but had a few trips to the garage. Ended up getting a younger vivaro and fingers are still crossed but van is going well 👌
Hopefully I won’t have to get a new van but if I do it’ll be a bigger one next time I reckon
Yep had similar model. Dpf light used to come on (even 8 months after filter got cleaned).
What a mare of an overnighter, but on the bright side you did get to get in the sea, I would give my right arm for that right now. I had a Vauxhall van that I had nothing but trouble with Shaun with electrical faults. Hope yours get sorted soon buddy.
Fingers crossed 🤞
some vauxhalls throw loads of electrical issues when the ignition coil packs fail, might be worth starting there. Family members have it on a meriva and astra and it caused abs issue
Love the video. Makes me want to give up my house snd get a van setup 😆
New subscriber 👏
Welcome to the channel
Another great episode, sorry to see the Van is poorly, hopefully you’ll be back in no time 🤙🏻🍊
Couple of great side gliding shots of the Surfers with the Drone, impressed with that
Cheers mate
@@LoveSundays pleasure as always 🤙🏻🍊
Good start to the day 😊.......sometime later 😢😢😢
I had the abs and air bag light thang in vivaros ,I found it's a wire under the passenger seat actually goes to heated seat connection, just wobble that and it'll go away, I've shown people selling vans with the fault who are supposed to be mechanics , and it was news to them
Love the channel and Praa Sands! We have a Vivaro too. The airbag light is most likely the seat belt pre tensioner. Ours has come on in the past where we’ve shoved shoes under the passenger seat.
If you’re looking for a good independent garage Nancegollen Garage could be an option if that’s close to you?
Ideal thanks mate
I won't lie - that's sort of genius the way the bed turns into a couch, with the plastic containers to hold the bedding. The tile backsplash behind the counter is a LITTLE much, though.
You need a good walking stick. I recommend one of bamboo, approximately 6 feet in length. Light yet strong.
I had the same problem with the airbag and abs light on a citroen relay van, I changed the abs sensor on the wheels don't cost much about £20 cure that problem then garage did computer test and the airbag light went out. But check your fuses and relays switches first.
Cheers Carl
Great Video Mate🤟
Cheers Alex
Hope you get the van sorted Shaun 👍
Cheers Andrew
Always get in the sea regardless, it freshens and generates those good feelings after plus you get warm once dry and wrapped up
try holding down the power button on the go pro to reset it. usually if the battery cant be removed there is either a button combo to press or long hold the power to force it to shut down/reset.
I’ve got a Ford Transit Custom Camper, and in the cold months from time to time my dash randomly lights up like a Christmas tree. Been to a few garages no faults. And then in summer all fine. Just one of those things 🤷🏻♂️sometimes I’m able to clear the lights by resetting them, by turning the ignition on and off 10 times. All the best I hope things work out 👍🏼🏴
Thanks for the advice 😊
Nooo hope your van gets sorted asap. Cheers Shaun
Thanks John
When the speedo packs up, the vehicle is immobilised due to various speed sensors. In the old days (pre-1990's) you could drive about with the speedo disconnected or broken all day long.
Great video, the drone shots were fabulous, pity you broke down, I'm sure you'll be back on the road soon.
What a let down with the GoPro, I was tempted to buy the Hero 9, until I heard it was notorious for freezing. Just treated myself to an Osmo Action 3, can't wait to try it out.
Yea the OSMO action is a great little camera I think you made a wise choice
Great video man!
Thank you
