  • welcome to Episode 4 in my No Experience Van Build Series. Today's video is hopefully full of lots of useful information as I show you a few ways of installing a very easy and super strong simple IKEA bed to the campervan. A real DIY hack that I've seen from other peoples conversion videos and one that was great to use on my build.

Hey, good on you for giving it all a go yourself, but please remove all the rockwall as it holds moisture, use plastic insulation, I've just had to strip and redo a customers conversion which he did himself using rockwall and it was soaking wet.

Thanks for the comment appreciate this but as i used vapour barrier i thought this would keep the moisture out from it getting damp or wet?

@Tomswhereabouts-db8is I can't comment on the vapour barrier install as I haven't seen it, we don't install vapour barriers as we feel it's better for the van walls to breath as it's impossible to remove all the moisture befor you seal it in and any moisture left will be trapped. I would still remove the rockwall and replace it with plastic insulation, in my opinion, as it is just the wrong stuff to have in a camper.
The camper we removed the rockwall from had a "vapour barrier" and was still soaking wet.

Unless it's completely airtight (which is impossible) then its generally better to use materials that don't hold water and then don't vapour barrier @@Tomswhereabouts-db8is
