Over the past couple of months, the Polaris RZR Pro XP has developed some noises. On of them is a pretty well defined "clunk" that feels and sounds like it is coming from beneath my feet. I brought it in and found that there is a TON of play in the stabilizer bar bracket bushings!
Today I am going to show you how I diagnosed the issue and was able to fix it in my machine.
This was just one source of noise. The other noise (carrier bearing) will be addressed in an upcoming video. Be sure to subscribe to catch that video, as well as all the other videos about this machine!
And, as always, thank you for watching. I really appreciate every viewer! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
So adding the front sway bar bushing grease fitting was pretty straight forward. Removed the bracket and bushing. Using an 1/8" drill bit, back drilled the bushing through the existing bushing hole where the grease passages intersected. This will allow grease to flow in. This will line up with that mysterious hole in the bracket that you mentioned about in your video. Drilled the bracket out to letter "I" (tap drill for 5/16-24). Installed an M8x1.0 straight grease fitting. M8x1.0 and 5/16-24 are essentially the same in this application. I only had the M8 fitting in my kit and no M8-1.0 tap LOL.
Oh, and here's how you made out! Awesome details! I'll be doing this during the off season. I was curious if you'd have to drill out the bushing so grease could get in there. And yes, my tap set has every size... except for the one I need in that very moment!!
Thanks for all the info!! I do believe that I'll try to install grease fittings on the front sway bar bushing brackets and let you know how it goes.
I am interested in how you make out!
Mine is a 2018 and I have zerk fittings on my rear and front sway bar bushings.
Yeah, for whatever reason they did away with them in the 2020 PRO XP lineup. Who knows. Next time they fail, I'll be modifying them for sure! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Mine came with grease fittings...
they don't help though...
Rats... I was hoping they would help. The new ones are loose again already. I'm thinking about wrapping them in rubber from a tire tube or something to see if that would help hold them solid. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
so easy if take panel off use short extention . 5 min job
Yeah, I figured it might be. I got 'em though! Thanks for watching!
What kinda grease? I have the nylon ones
I used Lucas Thick & Tacky. Hoping that grease will have a better chance of staying put!
how many grease fittings are on the machine?
I've only found 3 so far. The 2 rear sway bar bushings and the slip yoke accessed thru the slot in the skid plate. I wish there were a lot more. If you do the front sway bar bushing mod, then 5 total. Mine is '22 ultimate.
Only 3. I am interested it Dan Williams' front sway bar grease fitting mod and will likely give that a try during the off season!
I have some pictures but not sure how to share them. I'm kinda new at this sort of thing. Lol
How many miles did you have on stock ones.?
I don't think I made it to 1000 miles. New ones went bad as well. Wrapped them in rubber from an old tire innertube, and so far so good with that! Time will tell....
