- One thing that was pretty polarizing for the context of the debate with Modern Warfare 3 was the prospect of Carry Forward, where for the first time in COD history, your content from the last game would follow you into the next game that you bought. Warzone introduced this but as a paid feature, we had never seen this from game to game. On one hand, players loved this because they got to use all their camos day one, all their weapons they unlocked weren't lost (though you did have more and more to unlock through Modern Warfare 3) and more, but others hated it because it really reinforced the idea of a $70 DLC to Modern Warfare 2. I'm not here to argue one way or the other, but it was a new system in place for the COD franchise that objectively, made the amount of content on day 1 a bit larger in quantity. So, will Black Ops 6 or whatever the COD 2024 title ends up being bring this back? Today I want to have a discussion on how this may go and what we'll likely have clarified in just a few short weeks, so as we go along, drop your thoughts, would you like to have another Carry Forward title in Black Ops 6 or would you prefer a fresh start and why? I think attachments should be greatly reduced in quantity. We don't need 200 attachments with minor variations. Cold War was fine because most categories had less than 10 options which is plenty.
I completely agree! It’s a lot of fluff that isn’t needed at all. Nobody even uses 70% of those attachments. Sometimes, less is more.
Cold War was such an underrated great game
It was so much better when we just had a monolithic, light, and tactical suppressor. In MWIII there are only 2 or 3 suppressors I ever consider using anyway

I’d like skins to carry over, since I’ve bought so many since the start of mw2 literally hundreds.
The largest reason I don't buy store bundles is because I'm not guaranteed it carries over. I'd buy significantly more if I knew it would carry over for several years
I love MW3’s carry forward because it protected our investment in all these tracerpacks and blueprints. Many users probably don’t want to buy content knowing they’d lose it for the next title.

Yep imo cod has the best cosmetics shop of any game I play but after I lost everything I’d bought from warzone 1 I’ve not bought a single thing. Dont tell me it’s a new game when warzone still has all the same bugs.
I like that operators, being so expensive, carried over. Hope that continues. As for everything else..? Well, I hope I never ever lose my 9mm Daemon 🤩. EVER. The animators really showed out with that one. I vote full carry-over.
I think they should have mw items stay in mw, and have a fresh start with black ops 6 and keep carrying over black ops items to black ops games except for operators those should all carry over
What I wish is get rid of the cod hq and cod 2.0, have each game be its own game again:( can’t believe im having to ask for that, and get rid of warzone or just have it be completely separate, I know none of this will happen thiugh

I think XP tokens, COD points, and all cosmetics should carry forward.
i definitely think event and mastery camos should carry over, it would give me more of an incentive to grind for these camos knowing that i will be able to use them for more than 1 year at least

I’ll be honest, I don’t care about the weapons and camo’s carrying over but the dlc operator skins that we purchase carrying over would be nice
In my opinion the only thing that should transfer are skins. Most bundles if not all of them are there for the skins not the guns. The guns are unique to each call of duty game.
if they do carry forward, just carry over the camo’s because some event skins are kind of fire

I kinda want everything to carry forward cause I think it will make the grind worth a while but then again the way to get zombie camos can include mercarys kills so I doubt it will

Carry forward is necessary because if they cancel carry forward it would untie warzone from MP meaning you’d have to level up weapons in mp and again in wz. This system wouldn’t make sense to go back to and if they do it will reinstate the complaints of COD being too grindy,

I think that if they do implement the carry forward thing that they should work on a way to carry forward from Cold War instead of mwiii, it might take a lot more work but I feel that it would make more sense, in a historical sense with older 80’s weapons and characters, as opposed to the most modern of weapons teleported into the 90’s

I can see almost all the weapons being able to carry over, other than the the semi-futuristic ones like the MORS. Honestly, i love the MORS, but it does not even feel like it fits in the modern warfare world very well. It would make total sense for BO2, BO3, Advanced & Infinite Warfare worlds as they are all based in near future, but i mean, we don't even currently have the technology for a handheld railgun, and sure, i guess you can explain this by the zombies and modern warfare worlds colliding, so they couldve harnessed the technology with element 115/aetherium, but still just feels weird.
Just make things like tracer packs be something you can put on any gun, that way if they cycle guns you can keep the tracer packs that were purchased
probably never gonan buy another microsoft game after them using a judge related to a MS employee to force the activision sale, just to break the promises they made to allow the sale. if you buy their games you are admitting you couldn't care less about the developers.
Hopeful like you that if anything transfers it’s special, event and ranked camos. Would boost general player counts during events every game going forward so I don’t see why they wouldn’t at least do that.
I’m split. I think the current roster of weapons is overwhelming, we need a weapons reset. But operators can stay since they don’t really affect gameplay. I rarely used purchased guns anyways but I wouldn’t mind keeping my purchased operaters.

Carry forward player skins not all but like I said crossovers and stuff and carry over camos that's it.I think 2 games inside of warzone at once is enough so u start fresh here with all the guns and maps then carry them all over to cod2025. Also are they only supporting current gen consoles this year or are they still making it for the last gen as well.
I feel like the only things that should forsure carry over is event camos calling cards/emblems and that’s it because the guns we have in mw2 and mw2.5 won’t be in bo6 neither will the operators

I think the carry forward maybe different than you think. I think it could be cold war stuff being carried forward to bo5/6/whatever. They could just remaster the weapons from cw and using our data linked to our Activision accounts, give us back all the progress we made with cw weapons/camos and whatever else. Since bo5/6 is only a few years after cw, it make sense that all those weapons would be around during the events of bo5/6 just like mw2&3

id like to just see interstellar and orion continued on with the next game. i think all mastery camos should transfer should be pretty easy to do that.

I think as far as weapons go there has to be a fresh start for Warzone. There would be too much disparity in visual recoil and gun behavior and nobody would use mw2/mw3 weapons,. they would just be there taking up space and it would just keep the game consistent having strictly GW/BO6 ground loot.
I think event camos should transfer over so maybe in 5 or 6 cods down the line having a cool event camo from mw2 or mw3 will be seen as being an og other than that I think a full reset would be nice

I’m hoping everything but weapons, blueprints, and operators carry over. It would be a ton, but being able to show off the Ghoulish Camo 6 years down the line or something ridiculous like that would be really cool. And being able to keep my Emblem and Calling Card across all games going forward would just be nice.

The best thing for COD going forward is ALL new stuff. No remasters for MP and Warzone. All new maps, new Menu system, new take on Gunsmith, new movement, everything.

Everything should come on carry Forward cause we’re in a new year of call of duty and ever since MW three came out. Everything changed ever since that new system came in so think about it. have you guys ever use MW two and three weapons into a black ops universe before this will pretty much be a good opportunity
That’s just my opinion, but it’s pretty much a good thing after all my years of playing call of duty I never use a modern warfare weapon before so pretty much for the very first time for everyone, including me. I could be able to use two weapons into a black ops game like if you guys are playing zombies you guys need like special bullets or ammo attachments like explosive slugs ammo or armor piercing ammo this is gonna be good. I think you guys should just give this a chance.

I feel like only Camos, Emblems, Calling Cards like the smaller things only should carry over because Treyarch having to balance 3 diff games worth of weapons and having to see MW2 guns being used for a 3rd year would be annoying, as well Operators shouldn't carry unless Collabs/Blackcell because why should the new Characters from 2022/2023 be in the 90s.

I don’t think “only new stuff” would actually be good. Because if this happened we would have no more m16, Glock, mp5, etc. I think having some old stuff return would be cool, but redesign it yknow. Maybe the mp5 comes suppressed and has only a 15 round mag base idk. The maps should be remade, not remastered. Kind of like the vortex maps we see in mw3. Sorry for the yappaccino folks
Carry forward should only be same sub-franchise titles only…black ops to black ops and modern warfare to modern warfare. Two games is enough as it is but keep that all inclusive mentally for warzone only

Im kinda worried that black ops 6 and its warzone integration . Will eventually turn into warzone 1 and then they shut down the servers after a few games. Also the grenadier barrel for the m4 needs to come back. Could we see the grau come back ?
Honestly, I could care less if things do or don't carry over. But stuff that is special event related or bought should automatically carry over. I say this as someone that doesn't really buy anything from the store (2 bundles in the last 3 Cods). Remastered and old maps are always welcome.
Now, all this game needs to do is go back to the OG matchmaking, and it'll be good. That's the only thing I'd care about. But we know it's not going to happen. Old prestige would be awesome, too. I actually may not buy this Cod because of the matchmaking. Each year, I quit playing earlier and earlier. MWIII is an amazing game, and Sledgehammer did great things. The matchmaking just killed it.
I hope only mastery camos or event/special camos carry forward. I don’t buy skins and the guns/attachments feel way too bloated lately.

I think they’re missing out on a huge opportunity moving forward with COD HQ and a unified experience.
Just turn the MW and BO franchises into an ACTUAL live service experience since they’re already trying to push that route anyway. Provide consistent and regular updates to each “game” and release bigger expansion packs with new campaign and cooperative experiences once a year.
Take sledgehammer away from independent development and make them a support studio again to facilitate this new structure.
That way each franchise can be treated more like a CS:GO/2 model, where content doesn’t disappear, you can invest in the micro-transactions without fear of losing them, and it solves the confusion of tying in “carry-forward” content as you just keep it within each respective franchise.
How about this.. true democracy way. The studio should poll it whether to carry forward or not.. if carry forward wins, they should do seasonal polls on which set of weapons players would love to see come back. Contraversial but... carry forward weapons seem okay to be rotational, getting replaced by poll every season

I don't see carryover happening for one main reason. This is a completely different studio with the Black ops Cold war team that's making the next Black ops game is not a sledgehammer /Infinity Ward type game. Their games are completely different. More cartoony, many other differences. As much as I would love to have stuffed carry over as I've done the Orion and interstellar. I just don't see any reason. It would be clustered and they already have to integrate war zone. That's a whole other thing... I don't see how the war zone weapons don't carry over. What do I know.. it may be something like DMZ did. Where you can't use modern warfare 3 weapons and so forth I hated that because I was a big DMZ player now I don't play it anymore. Losing DMZ sucked for me. Now that I've got my interstellar I don't even play the game
MWIII's Season 4 is rumored to be Black Ops themed, so maybe the content carrying over will be the Black Ops themed content that carries over. Battery, Ruin, Reaper, and Nomad are the rumored bp operators with Woods rumored being the preorder bonus operator for BOVI's reveal.
