    The sockdock seems like a way longer tedious process than what needs to take place when doing laundry. Also, the purpose of a washer is for the items to swoosh around the water. It's hard to picture socks all stuck together on a tether device to flow freely.

    • @jessicaclark9703
      @jessicaclark9703 Před 7 měsíci +3

      I switched to crew socks (ankle/no show don’t stay on my feet) and haven’t lost a sock in years. Maybe the sock gremlin doesn’t like me, but even if I lost socks I doubt I’d take the time to use that.

    • @robonator2945

      I'm pretty sure the idea is that you put them onto it after your take them off, so they never *_become_* loose and seperated
      As for 'swooshing', it's really not an issue. The soap & water are naturally going to have turbulent flow through the entire machine and the chain of socks is still on a super flexible rope. A fully packed machine (as in, door barely closing) has *_far_* more flow & movement restrictions and still works pefectly fine.

    Switch your washer and dryer so the doors open away from them instead of to the middle so you can easily move clothes around

    • @gnic76
      @gnic76 Před 7 měsíci +27

      I came to say the same thing, washer should be on the left, dryer on the right with the door reversed. I know in some houses the washer is on the right side due to poor design or lazy plumber.

    • @aawillma
      @aawillma Před 7 měsíci +39

      Water and vent hookups are usually one way around in a house and don't reach when crossed over. Most full size washers and dryers have doors that can be installed to open either way.

    • @Greg8835
      @Greg8835 Před 7 měsíci +25

      You can just switch the doors around too. Not sure how involved it is, but you can see there’s bolts where you can switch them. Probably why the sensor to detect the door is closed is at the top.

    • @donkeyphone2457
      @donkeyphone2457 Před 7 měsíci +7

      Yeah, we can't do that. The hook ups are in the other orientation and we can change the dryer door, but not the washer door. It's really annoying.

    • @gnic76

    The laundry turtle REALLY helps me as someone with back/hip issues. Its use is so you don't have to lean down then INSIDE of the wash/dry. Having a laundry basket is not the same, it's a totally different "tool" with a different use case. I'm unable to reach into the very back of the wash/dryer to get those socks that stick to the back of the bin. With the turtle, using it as intended, I don't hurt myself reaching. You can also use it in reverse to drop the load of wet clothes into the dryer. Spin the tumbler, the turtle flips over, and your clothes drop in without what he did (pushing clothes out, which usually results in items dropping on the floor. Ugh.)

    • @alisonb4898

    Love the bloopers! Really felt the one that fell behind the machine. I use laundry net bags for my delicates and socks. Even my husband who now has to use compression socks uses them now. It's just easier since we don't run them through the dryer. See a bag, set it aside to hang on a line we've strung across the garage. We live in Arizona so during the summer our stuff can be completely dry in under an hour, we leave them overnight or a few days during a wet winter and they're good.

I shake out each item before it goes in the dryer and fold it as it comes out. A little OCD? Maybe. But I refuse to iron so taking a few extra minutes at the start yields a better result at the end 😁

    If the socks make it through the washer with that gizmo, then you're doing fine. My understanding of the problem is that it's the washer that eats them, since the dryer has no place for them to go.
    I will keep the 'front-door opening' option in mind if and when I have to replace my current washer, as I just bought the house and a top loader is what's here. As for the drip thing, it seems like a solution looking for a problem.

My dryer is so deep that it's hard to reach the clothes in the back, and as someone with back issues, repeated bending is hard on my back. This has made it easier to get all the clothing out of the dryer and has saved my back. the laundry turtle might be great for people who have to use an apartment building shared laundry room. Sometimes you have to use a dryer that’s far away from the washer because people just use whatever, and tie up the dryers next to your washer. Also dropping cleaned clothes on the floor of a public laundry disgusts me, makes me feel like I might catch bed bugs, and gets lint on everything.
    But, the drip cup things not so useful to someone who washes clothes outside of their own home and doesn’t their own laundry soap set up. I carry the detergent and clothes down 12 floors in an elevator to wash. It doesn’t just sit nicely above my personal washer.

    My parents solved the Tidy Cup usage by tilting the bottles back, as they're easy to rinse off. The cups catching is nice, but depending on humidity and frequency of doing laundry it'll dry out and become crusty.

    If socks fall of in dryer, it is not a big deal because it won't have any crevice/hollow space to disappear to.
    The washing is where my socks usually looses one socks because when it spins, socks gets thrown to the other side of the drum where you can't reach in to retrieve the item (99%] of the time).

    Turtle can also be replaced by a towel.
    For the last one, I use that and think it's a great product.. until it gets near the end, that is. With detergent being thicker, I find it's easier to just take the back cap off and pour.

    Hey sweetie,
    - there is much more laundry in my machine than in yours, to be honest (large washing machine drum) because I have a family of 3 adults!! So that laundy turtle would never work for us!!
    I use a HUGE laundy basket and that works well! I have 2 side-by-side cabinets in which my washing machine and dryer are standing so that I no longer have to bend over. Under the shelf on which the machines are standing, there are pull-out shelves on which I can place my basket to empty the machine, and then after taking out the laundry I simply move the basket (sliding, so don't have to lift it!!) from one shelf (under washing machine) to the other (and load the dryer) and DONE!! EASY and extremely handy those cabinets when you can not bend over.
    - I put all the socks in a laundry bag (with zipper) and place that with the socks in, in the machines (washing- and drying machine) and this way I don't lose a single sock anymore!
    I've got those bags in 4 different sizes (small to larger) and it works like a charm (also use them for bras).
    - I use laundry pods and add fabric softener sheets to the dryer!! No dripping at all HAHAHA.
    Warm hugs from an old rebel-Pinkie

    I bought the tidy cups, but use it on top of my machines and it is really inconvenient be a us of the doors (front-loading). Plus I have to leave the containers very forward of the machines and they sometimes tip. My shell is too far back for me to reach over my large, pedestal machines, so the tidy cups don't work there. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Space isn’t a problem for having a laundry basket any more. They have collapsible laundry baskets with plastic sides that accordion down to be thin enough to slip between the washer and dryer, or under a bed. Mine lasted about 8 years before the sides started to crack and is a little less than that turtle.

    • @MariaWarrenWrites
      @MariaWarrenWrites Před 7 měsíci +1

      You spin it, clothes drop all on it and you pull it out for the dryer. The other way you shovel the clothes into a basket or you transfer a handful at a time, and if youre doing a lot of loads that time amd strain adds up.

  • @batoerin
    @batoerin Před 6 měsíci +1

    Seems like it'd be a hassle to individually load all the socks into the sockdock. Your socks are all mixed in with the rest of your laundry- so you have to separate them out and load. I'd just keep a mesh zippered bag in my laundry hamper. Throw socks in there after you wear them- mesh bag gets thrown in the washer and dryer. The bags can be bought in a set for cheap and you can get different sizes for bras, soiled clothing etc. I doubt a set would be more than $10.

    I haven't tried the Laundry Turtle, but I must say it looks like it would a LOT easier to carry than a laundry basket for a person like me who walks with a cane. For me it would be worth having just for carrying and who cares that I have a top loader and can't use it with the washer. One handed transport with no droppage? Yes please.

    Still can't imagine the wrinkles doing it that way. I have to untwist my clothes before putting them in the dryer. Though I could see how this would be helpful to those that don't need to untwist.
    The sock thing is a cool idea. I just put all of mine in a mesh bag and wash them that way so they're still loose, but contained. But I can definitely see how this could be especially helpful for kids sock.
