Had to get a can of Bramwell's tomato soup when I was in Aldi earlier having seen this and it was absolutely spot on!! I had half the tin and then had to go back for the other half! Bloody delicious! Never mind that over-priced "Covent Garden" crap in a TetraPaK!

Lidl do a really nice tomato soup. I was always a Heinz kinda girl until I discovered the NEWGATE range in Lidl. Very nice indeed. Lovely and rich. Fabulous price too. Hope you didn’t cause yourself an injury with that hot sauce. Thank you for your reviews I’m new to the channel. Loving the content so far. Cant wait to check out more of your videos. Thank you.

New fan here: American living in the States, although I’ve spent a good share of time in the UK and abroad. It’s absolutely fascinating to see what the average person eats in other countries, how the ingredients compare to what they put in food here, and the prices especially with inflation going skyward presently. Love your energy and presentation. 👍👍

Hey Gareth, another great review of everyday food for a lot of people particularly pensioners or others on low incomes can see that if you are on a budget, you can still eat tasty food & save money! You convinced me to buy Aldi sausage rolls, they taste as good as one twice the price! ( think a lot of people must have seen your video as Aldi only had two boxes of sausage rolls left Lol! ) I also like that you always respond when people leave a comment, keep up the great work & keep doing sainsburys, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Aldi etc reviews on the same products as they are available all over the U.K.👍

Seriously, word of advice ,STOP WATCHING ALL NEWS MEDIA,and unless you have a bugie cage and need the paper for the bottom tray don’t waste good money on newspapers. The weight of the world will lift from your shoulders . You still have enough trickle through but not the hideous 24 hr ‘ rolling’ news ,radio show asking people to ring in with stories, bias news papers giving the editors personal views. It will be huge relief. 👍👍👍

I usually make my own soup from scratch (great way to use up odds & sods) but a nice tin of tomato soup is something I always have as emergency comfort food in the cupboard. One thing that annoys me about the Heinz (apart from the price) is when they trumpet the 'no preservatives' line. It's the canning that preserves the food inside. Food in tins does not contain or require preservatives. I think it's dishonest, like advertising a banana as having no added sugar.

I'm pleased you do a comparison now and then. We're still stockpiling for the future, when SHTF. I hope you are as well.
Here's one for you to try....fermented chilli sauce. It's better than shop bought.
Mince your red chillies in a blender, Add 2% salt to the weight of the chillies. Pulse the blender to mix everything.
Pour into a sterilised jar, and into a cool dark cupboard. You'll need to burp it every day (loosen the lid slightly to let the air out)
3-4 days, and it's ready. Put it in the fridge, and it'll last for months.
You might get a white growth on top. It's more than likely kham yeast, not mould....you can still eat it.
I hope you have a go. I've been fermenting stuff for about two years now. The only downside is that you fart more than livestock.

Great recipe with any canned tomato soup is add a third of a can of diced tomatoes, boil 4-5 frozen pork and chives dumplings, a half packet of noodles .... i use the Korean Kimchi brand because those dont totally soak up and saturate the soup but remain distinctly noodles plus boil a small amount of peas with the noodles and dumplings. Then add chopped shallots and sour cream on top with cracked pepper. In Australia we have Heinz, Campbell's, Rosella, Polpa an Indian brand, Always Fresh, Bramwell's, and La Gina an Italian brand.

Well, I think the days are numbered for the old school big boys. They've had it good for years. Times up! Years ago when you tried a budget food, well, let's face it. It tasted like hot emulsion paint! The colour was right, but, the taste wasn't. I learned very quickly to avoid the cheap food. You only get what you pay for? Well, it looks like things are different now. It's as nice as the brand names, and a fraction of the pricel I must agree. The Aldi is the nicest tasting, and a fraction of the price! The Asda is the best price, but, they all tastes good! Great video, again!

Great video mate! Useful that aswell what with winter coming and possible food shortages you never know what you're gonna be relying on/falling back on in cupboard (or left on shelves). I think both the Aldi and Lidl "decent" versions of "branded" stuff, you can't beat for value(MOST of the time!) That goes for their better quality food (and also their tools - alot of the time-not food I know lol 😅) even their economy food stuff is good enough usually aswell even if you have to add a bit of something to it like their cheap pizzas and stick a bit of extra toppings on yourself etc...

@@BaldFoodieGuy Hello again Gareth, recently Heinz have hiked the price of their canned soups to £1.40 each. That is profiteering on their part, I no longer buy Heinz Cream of Tomato soup, I buy Batchelors Cream of Tomato soup instead at £0.49 each from Heron Foods.

Only thing with ring pull cans is that you get that lip on the inside of the can which makes it harder to get everything out, the Tesco and Asda ones you basically get no residue which is pretty handy tbh

I do like most Heinz products but I have always hated their baked beanz. Far too sweet and saccharine. My favourite beans as a kid were Crosse and Blackwell and Branston. They were also brands but the modern Aldi "fake" wins me over.
Now I remember when Aldi first came to the UK and they actually sold beans for 2p a tin - they were disgusting watery slop. But for 2p a tin I'm sure somebody made something edible out of it. LOL
