Yo Morgan is on job, her stage 2 Golf R is a monster. I thought the MK6 R would have smoked the MK7 but she was so efficient at putting power down.
Pretty standard times for a mk7 stage 2.. on my stage 1 i do a 12 flat with 380hp which was still slightly quicker then that mk6 did with 450, the mk6 is cool but too old now to hang with newer stuff off launch.

The mk6 is talking crap with the power figures it’ll be more around 410-420bhp. Plus In the real world you ain’t getting anywhere faster in a 7 compared to a 6 at these power levels.
The Golf 8R has a lot of potential, it's impressive how it pulls against those car even only running a stage 1 low power and the highest Weight ! Curious to see this monster on stage 2 or 3
Tue MK8 probably has a better powerband compared to the slightly older versions of that engine. Maybe less peak power but more usable power throughout the rev range compared to the others
@TR Hamza has a mk8 stage 3. Would like to see these two to link up.
The MK8 had a really good mid-range torque curve.
Interestingly my mk7.5 stage 1 pulls pretty much the same as the mk8.

I'd still take the 6r over the other two any day of the week. Love the interior and exterior considerably more so. I have a k04 GTI and just added a stock 6r to the stable this month with big plans for it.

A Mk 8 full stage 3 would absolutely DESTROY any other Golf mk 6, 7 or most cars on the road tbh.

Great race between Rs. Fun to see the results between tuned cars. Also like that all 3 were all on the same tire, really wish more reviews set cars up that way to see real results.
I must say I believe the MK7 stage 2 TCU tune is where the difference is. Her tune may be slightly higher RPM on launch from what it looks like as she pulls away from both other cars on launch. Great racing!

Its not about the new tech , Power is Power , my mk6R with 460bhp does 1/4 Mile 11,3s , 0-100kph 3,5 100-200 8,0 with tte480 , don‘t think the mk6r was at 450bhp with the tte420
My mk6 R with 460 hp does 1/4 mile 11.4 0-100 3.6 100-200 8.3 only 98 ron turbo GTX 2867 APR !

Always wanted a Golf 6 GTI and finally owning one, I will probably never sell it. Still bone stock and love it. Interior is beautiful with all the leather finishes and rounder exterior really does it more for me compared to the newer ones. No haptic buttons, no button handbrake, just perfect😁
You can't sell it! Because it is the only car with talent and character that you will never get tired of driving!

I don't know why they wasted the time to hear them rev, no 4 cylinder sounds good unless it's capable of reving above 8,000 rpm.
I tell you, the 2.0T FSI engine is almost 20 year old engine in the MK6 R yet still manages to get a spot in these races. Hands down to the MK6 R. I have an MK5 GTI but has a swapped MK6 Golf R engine CRZA with the same setup as the MK6 R. I'm happy to see this race.

I was thinking the same thing.
This is a horrible stage 1. I know it said it was just a beta file but even the very first publicly released stage 1+ by unitronic has the 8R at 11.5-6 at 119-120mph. It would’ve destroyed both of these in every metric.

@@mmf9765 videos? No. Just data and time slips from various people in the community. I have both tunes for my 8R but my TCU can’t be unlocked yet so I’ve yet to flash. Regardless APR, Uni, and 034 have all released tunes at around the same performance. It’s very easily backed.

Yeah at 8:04 it sounds like the mk6 had a vacuum leak and at 14:10 it sounded like the clutch was slipping a bit, although not noticeable earlier in the vid. Don't know if that's normal though, never owned or driven one but all are quality nonetheless.
He did state it was running meth, so if it's meth dependant and he run out/failed or whatever, then it wouldn't make the stated figures anymore. But yeah that looks to be around 400bhp times

@@mazpr2025 I got LSD fitted and lowered 30m with spacers it handles pretty well, plus I don’t live in a place where there’s loads of twisty roads, trust me these golf rs and s3s are a pile of horse dung with their 4 pot engines

Cracking video as always Jamie, those golfs are quick cars. Would love to see where my Evo would come in comparison being around the same power as the slowest but power to weight somewhere in the middle and everything being manual and no launch control etc. Would be a good test
Im have a stage 2 golf 7 R as well, also 420bhp but with a stage 3 dsg tune, it drives so smooth and the launch is rapid with the dsg tune. Great video again bro!

LoL MK6 is rare you don’t even see them anymore. Mostly MK7 but they are boring. Best you can have is 6R. Still the best looking R with of course the legendary R32 MK4/5.

1500kgs is quite heavy for those Golfs. I never knew they were so heavy but then again now that I’m in my fifties now I find myself really getting into VAG cars!
Dsg and awd adds a bit of weight, 1.6 tdi with manual and fwd weighs 1270
Im same age, got R32 instead. Slower, but no matter on the streets. More raw, no lag, loud, like what we were more used to.
the norm of newer cars, they just get heavier cuz of regulations and stuff
My mk4 is 1540kg with the vr6 2.8 24v. so not that heavy.

The MK7 has been my all time favourite 😍. I'm glad Morgan represented and won. I respect the other drivers and the MK8 considering its on stage one probably would have been interesting on stage 2 or 3 mods
my brother had a stage 3 7r and did 180 mph and 0-60 in 2.1 seconds

Regardless if the mk7 lost completely that’s the car I’d of picked of the 3. The colour. The styling. Is all how I’d have it. I can’t believe how aggressive stage 2 is.
I’d personally go for the mk8 in stock form though. But the right car won. The others did good and the mk6 made fun otherwise she’d of walked it.

Awesome races! I have a MK6 R with similiar specs 6spd manual in US. Yes, I do love the look of MK6, but I've seen the MK8 locally and they get an edge on cool. I'm never selling my MK6 R, I bought new and spent too much money on it, and now it owns me. Good show.

MK6 on the other hand, i own one identical but im on stock turbo and doing 360hp and im doing stable 3.8 sec 0-60 and 12,2 1/4 mile times so something is off

I was gutted for Anton Aswell as that MK6 Stage 3 pushing 450bhp & Weighting 1520kg over The Stage 2 MK7 R making 420bhp & which is Lighter Weighs at 1460kg so I kinda had a feeling it would of been Closer between the MK6 & MK7 but Morgan Just showed who was boss 😄
I think the mk6r doesn‘t have 450bhp , its to slow for the times , my mk6r at 460bhp makes 1/4 11,3s 0-100kph 3,5 100-200 8,0 my mk6 with only 460bhp would smoke the 7r and 8r in the Video mine is at 1570kg without me
That mk6 won't be making 450bhp with a TTE420. Need at least a TTE480 or Venom 450

No doubt the MK8 R is the best performer, and it’s definitely cool in that it’s AWD system is much better in its operation and delivery. But, I really feel like the MK7/7.5 Golf R was the pinnacle. It’s performance is still very good, especially when tuned, but it’s interior is also really good, and when 100% of the time you are inside the vehicle, you want it to feel good, but also be worry free. The MK8 R’s interior falls drastically in that regard.
The MK6 Golf R is very good looking. The rear, with its center exhaust, is by far the best looking of them all, but the MK6 falls short in the tuning world, and it’s interior feels kind of cheap in comparison to the MK7/7.5, which still to this day, is very solid, well built, and premium looking.
As well as the MK8 R performs, I could never get its atrocious interior out of my mind, and since the MK7/7.5 R is pretty close to the MK8’s performance, and is liveable inside, it’s the clear winner to me, hence why IMO, it’s the pinnacle.
Let’s hope VW really does make a change with the MK8 “refresh”. There is some talk that they are, so hopefully they knock it out of the park. If VW can make the MK8’s interior a lot better, than it could possible overtake the MK7/7.5…
its already miles ahead of the mk7.5r in every way. the performance in EVERY aspect is better and there's no debating this. The only thing id say there's room to debate is the interior but in my opinion after living with one for about a year, its easy and you get used to it very quickly.
