    dude ive watched so many videos on this and this one is to first to make sense, and it actually makes so much sense. you staged common examples and then showed them in an actual game. you explained cause and effect and gave enough information that I can actually better analyze situations now because I know what to look for, and how to think.
    thank u so much.

    This guide is amazing! My feedback would be maybe list on-screen your tips from 11:45 onward, because that info seemed like some of the most important to me, but you kind of go over it very quickly.

    i liked this video. it was a double whammy for me. not only was the information informative, but the gameplay you used for it, actually let me see a lot of really glaring mistakes i make when i play riven that i never even considered as mistakes. plus it showed me how i can deal with ranged top laners/graves

    Great guide. Can you go over more advance concepts? E.g. when to deny exp vs taking minion gold on freezes, when to push and get plates vs freeze

    Something I struggle with is farm in the mid-lategame. I do try and pick up cs when I can, but being a top lane main, I feel like there's always something important going on and I rarely get to farm a significant amount unless I'm splitpushing or collecting a big wave that got slowpushed.

    • @Rivalrvn
      @Rivalrvn  Před 2 lety +4

      It sounds like you’re getting sucked into pointless ARAMs. Certain points in the game call for absolutely no fighting, you just get to take the map because you’re stronger. Don’t get baited by your team, go and side lane because it’s the correct thing to do and will often maintain your CS and give you a level lead. You’re a toplaner, you’re arguably the strongest and most well suited to sidelaning.

    After watching the video for a bit I would suggest to speak a little slower (I eventually put the video to 0.85 speed) and to not talk while having sentences on the screen that force the viewer to decide whether to listen to you or read or simply to pause the video and then rewind.
    I would also suggest to have a better order regarding the topics. For example, you talk about the pros and cons of freezing in your Examples chapter, but the freezing technique is only explained in the actual Freezing chapter. Obviously, the pros and cons of freezing should be in the Freezing chapter.

      @@Rivalrvn I am looking forward to more educational videos :). I am a top laner myself (though on a bit of a League break right now) and I was familiar with the terms and techniques, but I am by no means high ELO and I would love to have some more detail on when to use which technique. This is what I personally struggle with the most, i.e. when do I use what technique to the best effect.

  • @Norbybeaver

    Nice video. Why does Riven recall at 4:04 without fully crashing the wave? I thought that would be a bad idea since Graves could freeze it then.

    So basically it its always better to freeze unless you are facing a roaming champion?

    • @Rivalrvn
      @Rivalrvn  Před 2 lety +3

      Essentially yes. But even roaming champions will suffer if their roams don’t work out, they’ll just fall behind in gold and xp. Just be sure to ping your teammates and type, after that there’s nothing that can be done if they die, you’ve told them what’s gonna happen. Also you’re making the right play, they’re making the wrong one

  • @akrylic_
    @akrylic_ Před 2 lety +1

    Honestly this isn't a very good guide for a few reasons.
    1. Definitions are out of order. Ie you start talking about freezing before even defining it
    2. No demonstrations of key terms like wave crash/bouncing and how the waves change when you damage them in general
    3. Just because you outline the terms, it's not always clear when to use them. I.e. Weigh the pros and cons of using each in different scenarios (What do you do when top laner TPs bot? What's strategy do you use when you're setting up a gank and what are the pros and cons?)
    I like the candor and style, but the video doesn't really give much educational info because it assumes too much from thenfirwern

    • @Rivalrvn
      @Rivalrvn  Před 2 lety +2

      I would argue those are things to improve on next time, they probably don’t nullify the pages and pages of information included in the video.
      One negative comment out of 800+ upvotes can’t be too bad though I guess! Thanks for the suggestions.

    The idea that you can get to diamond without understanding wave management is ridiculous. Literally I'm in mid gold, and without a doubt I have 95% of my top matchups thinning, freezing. The 5% who don't understanding basic wave management I win by default even if I int 3 kills. I hate this idea that wave management is somehow esoteric, it's honestly the basics of lol
