I think the main issue being regarded with the first point is that most people have been put into the mindset of "Get Level 2 first at all costs before the opponents" and so they take these unnecessary risks for a spike that might not even work
And yet the flip side of this is to auto concede lane before it even started by playing way too “safe”. In melee versus enchanter support matchups this is understandable, but especially in enchanter versus enchanter matchups I personally think it’s almost trolling to give over wave control for no reason, because it essentially makes it so that one support can play the game and the other just can’t. This happens regularly with the Karma’s, Lulu’s and Soraka’s I get, where the difference between good and bad players is night and day. People that play like that have put themselves in the exact opposite mindset that you talk about: “Just play safe and scale.” Thing is, you give up any agency you might have had over the first 25 minutes of the game and basically resort to just praying that the enemy makes mistakes.
There is some truth in what you're saying but as a Sylas sup I do NEED my lvl 2 to have an extreme powerspike.
Ironically skill capped has made like 3 videos on the importance of getting 2 first.
It’s not completely wrong, level, a level two champion should always beat a level one champion. The problem is when melee sups don’t respect ranged sups and play too aggressively and get chunked out while they both hot lv 2 first, meaning the ranged sup and adc can usually all in and first blood with ignite.
Lv 2 trade Is One of the most important what do you mean, i saw so many waves being controller as shit, you Just have to do First wave 2 meele Minions or 3 caster and you have lv2 while i saw how a lot of people wanna complain when the answer Is before your eyes, lv 2 advantage, helps farming, prio for jungle invade or crab, deep warding and possibly roaming. But yeah if you play soraka to Watch your team win the game for you while you Just spammed w and have 2 nerves working, then don't even try to do a play

The samira didn't have to flash forward, if instead of aa'ing on the alistar q she would've done it on his w and walked forward lulu doesn't even flash because she's dead regardless.
Sure, a video that's meant to help people hit gold and plat shouldn't involve insanely mechanical stuff, but if you can't play your champion don't play it in ranked.

The level 3 rule doesn't really apply for most melee supports, it's mostly an Alistar thing. Naut and Blitzcrank are extremely dangerous level 1, Pyke/Thresh can get some really favourable trades even before level 2 if they hit a hook, Leona usually wants to engage level 2 and Rell engages level 1 or 2 depending on enemy positioning/matchup.
Even with Alistar you can engage level 2 if the enemy doesn't back off quickly enough and you haven't lost too much health.

The level 3 thing is blatantly false, *BUT* it's a good rule of thumb for players who probably won't be able to apply a more complete understanding of how it all works. Sadly, this is most players (probably including myself. Not trying to be on a high horse here) so it's generally good advice to tell ADCs that engage supports are useless till 3, just don't go telling engage supports they're useless till 3.

Okay, I will comment this: if u you know that sup is autofilled and want to avoid interaction with the enemy, just perma push and stay back until next wave, like sivir. This also allows the sup to roam, this can be done by some adcs, like ez, sivir, varus. You might want to do that with melee sups if you keep losing 2v2s.

When I first looked I questioned why lulu didn’t get knocked under turr.😮 thank you for clearing that up. Now I know why I was stuck bronze but was in matches with gold players. My mechanics are good but my macro was dog shit.
I'm a silver player and surely can't understand everything, but it's kinda confusing when in one episode you talking about cheater recalls or lvl 2 engages, and in another advice is to let the wave push and try to get lvl3
experiment in your games. or rather apply what you learned and see the difference yourself. Sometimes it goes well when you cheater and supp roams, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes waiting for lvl 3 by tower is better.
You essentially have scenarios provided. There are ideal scenarios and there are "my soraka is standing by tower". They show in this video how you should play the matchup in an ideal scenario and what to do in "real". For us as players, it's to recognise if our support/adc knows the ideal scenario (you can talk in draft if you want synergy/gameplan) and plays accordingly. 4:57 and 13:23 are similar scenarios from similar matchups showing what happens if you don't play them ideally. If you find yourself as an adc in this position it's on you to ping them off before it can happen. You can type in chat "wait hp" or "full hp" (while farming) or fully explain when dead/walking from base.
You should consume these topics on the channel as concepts that can be divided. Having the full list will be convoluted so it's better to establish your own relationship and mindmap of how you look at these concepts because while a cheater recall can net you an item advantage, would sticking around to bait a failed gank be better so your jungle can do stuff top side (or help your jungle for a crab fight, etc).
It really is a lot if you just absorb it as theory but when you actively practice it you'll make the links in your head much faster and understand advanced concepts later on.
When one team has a melee support and the other has a ranged support, the team with two ranged champions will typically have a large advantage in trading and wave control at level 1. Melee supports need access to 2 or 3 abilities before they can really perform, so it's difficult for the melee support to get to level 2 first since their level 1 pressure is so low.
If you have a melee support and your opponent has a ranged support, but they had to leash at level 1 and you didn't, you can usually push for level 2 and look for a fight with the level advantage. However, if neither of you had to leash (or you both had to leash), you'll usually have to concede wave control early.
The same principle applies in solo lanes. Ranged champions will, in most cases, have wave control for the first couple levels. The melee champion has to minimize damage taken and wait for their tower to clear out the slow-pushed wave while they get to level 3, then they can look for trades or all-ins.

It depends mostly on which side can push faster with their abilities. The other side's adc auto rate also matters in your decision making
lvl 2 powerspike trades are generally great if you can actually get to lvl 2 first before the enemy laners safely. You have to get the right balance of aggressiveness and safety since even if you get lvl 2 first at cost of 50% of your support's hp, then there would be no point to the spike. But if you somehow managed to get lvl 2 first without losing too much hp and cooldowns, then that's the perfect scenario for you to engage all-in. You'll get a sense of it through experience

One if the reasons I like amumu support is that you have a really strong level 1 and 2 and the three is just okay. So you can go in even level 1 since you have 200 dmg and 2 seconds of CC on your two Q's
that’s why i love ranged damage supports. they don’t seem to rely on your adc not knowing/listening to wave control. not as reliant as having a good wave, like Nautilus and Leona are.
and blitzcrank can hook opponents who are under their tower, makes him S rank in low elo for so long.

Your bot lanes arguing brought back memories lol. See, I learned to play LoL in China when I was teaching there. I had a Chinese teacher friend use his national ID and created an account for me to spend nights gaming away. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, a total foreign noob walking in Chinese LoL. I had successfully integrated the English interface to the Chinese servers using "how to" available online. I stepped in the arena 2014, or so.... I saw the birth of Jinx.
But I could not read, or write Chinese. I'd try to tell them, in English the best I could. I took Soraka as my initial champ, I love healing in most games and I thought I'd enjoy that one. Soraka at the time was a different beast, The healer, but a very different animal. Bot was the position I could call in English pre game.The pings that I've got on the map was pretty overwhelming at first, ADCs going insane typing in Chinese and pinging the map. Me = wtf? I finally got the message along the many games and a few English speakers that trying to kill minions was bad. I was sooooo NOT happy about that fact, I needed gold too!! I also learned that hitting minions all the time is bad, that's called pushing. Taking the kill, which banana girl was simply not equipped for, the crime of all crimes. I got over the fact that I had to pay for the damn wards out of the gold I couldn't get, never bought any, they reminded me every game. I still can't last hit to this day. I pretty much sucks at the other roles, but I'm a Chinese trained supp. I'll keep you alive or die trying, ADC gets the glory.

I've recently found the hardest problem is that my teammate in the bottom (ADC or sup) often doesn't understand wave control (I'm not good at it either but some of these guys have NO self-awareness) and they will simply try to kill as many minions as possible, hard pushing to the tower with only a couple of casters every time. Asking them to stop and play more passively rarely works and they'll lose the lane due to a lack of slow pushes and freezes.
This. I'm an ADC main, and playing it has made me aware of so many things that help me support well, too. And I'm nothing special, but just understanding the dynamics put you soooo far ahead than most of these clueless players. The problem is that you must have double awareness - for you and for them - when you end up being paired with them.
I believe that if most supports had experience playing ADC too, a lot of the quarrying in Bot would be solved. Sometimes it DOES only takes to be in someone else's shoes 😂 and any relationship should see eye to eye

Had a match as a Jinx, support karma, enemy Draven and soraka. My support deiced to trade with the draven level 1, root thing start, in minion wave and died and flame me not follow up. Karma end up 0/11/0 in lane, and fed draven, and he can one shot all of us just 1 auto

Tbh I always viewed the Bot Duo relationship as that - SUP is parent, ADC is the growing child -, but for the purpose of the video I believe it made perfect sense for it to be the opposite until level three. And then it reverts to the child taking care of their old folk until we can bail the family out later on with retirement money or heirlooms 😂😂😂
What do you do if you're with a support who will never stop shoving the wave and will tilt if you type anything asking them to stop?
If they won't stop just push the wave and go back to tower, unless you don't have vision, then just let the wave push into you

@@kbmats Pull the uno reverso on the support and say "gg, im permaroam, useless support".
Realistically go get deep vision by yourself and try to track the enemy jungler and help whenever you jungler is in the area (IF you can; you need to collect a wave at your tower). Unless they are autofilled support or got their ego hurt (intentionally taking minions), they'll know and respect that the adc needs the farm.
If it's a melee support doing that, go next.

Another problem many MANY ADC's make that is difficult for me as support, is allowing the wave to crash. It's good to let the wave come to you, bad to let the ENTIRE wave come to you and lock you under tower.

I believe this dynamic here - letting it crash but not entirely and resetting it to the middle in proper timing for engagement - is the hardest one to succeed at as an ADC.

This is why I don’t play bot anymore, sometimes I still get filled support. In those cases I usually just end up roaming, sometimes I get a good adc and I’ll stick by them.

Yes blitz is melee and an engage support but we can also bring the enemy to us. The more minions the enemy has to hide behind the less useful we are. Yes theoretically allowing enemy minions to stack up could allow you to pull them into turret but most adcs aren’t dumb enough to stick around if blitz is there. Unlike Leona and naut, his range skill doesn’t go through minions so that wall of enemy minions makes him relatively useless.

5:10 could have been really great if Samira didn't ruin Alistar's play. Alistar Flash Qd into Lulu and then used W to push her into tower. Samira both reacted too late, wasting the entire knockup from Alistar Q, and also canceled Alistar W with her passive, completely neutralising Alistar's playing and allowing Lulu to get away
5:09 is not alistar fault, if u see carefully alistar press flash Q and when he try to W to make lulu dive samira enable her passive too early so she save enemy lulu

Okay, but what if the adc knows nothing about wave management? I literally was playing leona and my adc pushed the wave (not even full shove), and I became useless. I told him to shove or let the enemy push but he kept the wave in that awkward position that makes me useless. What should I do in this case as a support? Should I just stand in this lane doing nothing or go roaming? In both cases I'm losing my advantage.
If you roam your adc will die, so you basically afk until you need to safe your adc because of their over extension.

I am a bit lost. This guide tells me to play safe for level 3 and let them push in as a kill lane, when all the time I heard about getting level 2 first. What changed?
my favorite situation is the following *supp* ints one single time *me the adc* ummm...okay, I managed to kick them out of lane I guess *supp* flames then ghosts me and is never in lane again
Nothing more infuriating than a support that just sits back in the lane refusing to play, but when you call them out they've concocted the thought that *you* are the one doing everything wrong, and they're doing great because they're full hp and are not dying -_-

rengar supp is just good ngl since he has dmg, he can tank and basically cleanse all cc and dmg if 2 w and snare rinse and repeat. making squishy match ups easy or if against tank wait for them to miss athen focus the adc . its just that its very risky especially if ur adc does not know how to trade properly

I started playing Pyke mid and have noticed a trend with casters: In general, they just arent worth the gold early on. It's better to miss them gaining XP and preserving hp early on. Is this the case or am I misreading things?
