Me playing Jax and still killing the enemy sett when I'm 0/3 and he's 2/0/1 🤣🤣🤣
The tip about the wave is actually super useful, I've ranked up from g3 to plat 2 in 2 weeks just because I spam Darius, get the wave closer to my tower, then I just Ghost and run them down because of the space that I've been given
🏳️🌈
@@gustavomagadan6331 Yea playing Darius is super gay, i agree
I did it because it was free elo 💀💀
Thats why darius is so heavily despised in top, but gj tho
Darius gets countered by champs like Pantheon and Wukong, basically people who can avoid Darius Q, outdamage or poke him. Mordekaiser outscales Darius if the Morde doesn't int, and farms properly.

Ezreal's voice actor, Dan Amerman as the voiceover is the greatest thing that ever happened
also yet another banger video to learn from
It’s insane how much this channel releases good advice for free.
I find this a bit confusing: At the beginning, you say with game fundamentals you can learn to play the role and do not need to know about match-ups. In 2:20, you explain that you should adapt your playstyle to whether a certain skill is stronger than the opponents (or vice versa). Maybe, this question is stupid but: Is it not considered knowledge about match-ups instead of general game knowledge? How would I know my champion's skills' strengths relating to other champions', if not by knowing the match-up?
same thought
I think the point is that you don’t have to know exactly how the matchup plays, just what are the biggest problems/harm the other toplaner could cause you and the best answer that you can give to that.
But yeah you do need to know the basics of the match, but a quick google and you should be fine
@@giordannorodrigues5826 I was about to post the same original comment as Franziska. I think the issue is that there's currently no reputable source on this basic matchup knowledge. I just googled "riven vs gragas matchup notes" and the first 10 links are just the matchup win percentages which aren't helpful at all in letting me know how riven wins against gragas. Websites are really useful in telling percentages like this item is used the with the highest percentage and this one has the highest win percentage, but bad at giving reasoning why.
Sometimes, yes, why something is really strong is very obvious, but gragas e being stronger than riven q isn't actually that obvious at the onset unless you've heard many times that hey gragas e is busted because it cancels literally all other dashes into it. However, that is very gragas specific knowledge that I don't expect everyone to just know.
Maybe I'm googling wrong or something, but I personally think it does require playing the champs or the matchup a bit, analyzing footage on the matchup, or being directly told about the matchup in order to have even basic matchup knowledge like the most important skill that seems to be required for the basic stuff mentioned in the video. That's not to take away from how important basic fundamentals are, but to say that a blanket statement saying matchup knowledge isn't needed at all just isn't true.
I think the idea is you don't need to have every detail about a matchup in order to figure that out, but you do need to know what the champions do, especially your own. Gragas players know that his E interrupts dashes, it stuns, and that they can just walk away for free after using it. So all you need to do is think: "Can riven punish my E?" Most champions can't, so the answer is no, and you have the stronger ability in that case.
An example of someone who might be able to punish gragas E is Darius, who (correct me if I'm wrong, top is my weakest role and I don't know the matchups either) can hook gragas out of his e? But that only applies after Darius levels E, so until then you might be safe.
Worst case you're wrong and you've just gained matchup knowledge.
So when you're in champ select/loading screen, look at the other champion and think about what their abilities do. If you don't know their basic abilities, then that's something you probably need to learn anyway.
Don't worry, this video is pretty weak compared to other videos. He does not consider the gap between what he thinks is basic knowledge and what casuals think is basic knowledge. While he didn't say anything wrong in the video his definitions are out of touch.
Great video, but I would argue that for the first trick you kinda do need specific match up knowledge, because you need to know which cds are stronger
The second one as well, you need to understand what makes Camille's trading powerful and recognize how to make her weak. The average player was never going to realize that she had to play around Grasp stacking on the wave before engaging forward. By the way Camille was playing, I think that her using it early was a symptom of the lane state and not her recognizing her own kit.
The fact that gragas knew his e beats riven q is very matchup specific in my opinion... Let's say you play jax into darius, you have to know that whoever e's first loses. These are small details but very important.
Yeah I was about to say. That is like the textbook definition of matchup knowledge.
I learn a lot from these higher elo games ( diam, masters etc) as I'm stuck in plat.
Thanks for the content :)
Love these kind of videos and I don't even main top. I'm an ADC main and 1 big issue I have is deciding between farming lanes/camps vs grouping for fights (Because I know my job is to get as much gold as possible). Finding that balance is challenging. I dunno, just a video idea.
Are you going and then staying mid with your support after bot tower goes down? That's what you're supposed to do after laning as adc. Sit in mid collecting every wave and hitting whatever jung camps your jungle (or enemy jungler if you're winning) can't get to. This way the two person lane is in the shortest lane, collecting the most cs, and is within easy rotation range to dragon/baron.
This channel is a gold mine for improvement
Emphasis on Gold lol
@@sabodew7069 😂
ok but camille vs cho'gath isnt terrible for cho'gath in lane? its only a "bad matchup" after divine sunderer for him lol
Just to say Thanks for all ur videos I got finally plat and Almost plat2 when I had 2 years at gold
Every time i watch an explained replay for Hector ,i understand that it is impossible for me to reach this man 😅
I appreciate how incredibly dense with useful information these videos are
Shockingly good video. Thank you
nice video! Everyone in everywhere can get improverment❤
Video I have always dreamt of but never found.
Thanks for the video. I'm a low elo trying to learn and i have a question. What should i do in Camille's case when the wave was slow pushing towards Cho Gath ? Push to the tower even cost life and recall ?
Recall and come back with item advantage, but don't forget to thin out his wave first with your aoe and possibly get a minion or two.
In response to this cho will either attempt to push and will have a bad recall timing or even be on lane still when you're back, giving you complete trade advantage and freeze potencial, attempt to freeze and still lose short trades/get dove due to item/hp advantage when you get back, or he'll let the wave crash into his turret, and it will bounce back to you, eventually getting camille back to her most advantageous wave position in front of her turret, regardless of what he chooses, you maintain advantage.
If only Hector knew this when he fought with Achilles.
Definitely should do a Mord matchup. His WR is lower but hes a great champ. Thx for the guide, OTP Mord Main.
what do you mean matchup doesnt care? knowing which champs abilitie is better lvl 1,2,3 is matchup knowledge
Everyone playing ranked should have a basic idea of what every champion's spells are and what they tend to start with. It's not really matchup knowledge, it's comparative knowledge for the first few levels. If someone is playing ranked and has not learned what the abilities of other champions are yet, they should not be playing ranked.
You do not have to know which ability is stronger number wise between yours and theirs. All you need is the basic knowledge of "Does the enemy laner have AOE they like to use? Does the enemy laner have a dash to dodge or engage with? Does the enemy laner have an ability that is faster than mine?" And that's it. It's not matchup knowledge, it's basic comparative knowledge everyone playing ranked should know.
If you look at Riven you already know she has 3 forward slashes that can knock up on the 3rd, an AOE stun, and a 1 dash that gives a shield. At level 1 you know she likely does not have the stun nor dash yet. Again, that should be basic knowledge that anyone playing ranked should already know. That's not even looking at Riven's passive that gives her an auto attack amp, nor is it even looking at your own champion. It's you knowing what the enemy laner is capable of out of the gate from a champion perspective the moment you see them as your lane opponent.
I'd say this guide was more about how matchup knowledge tells you how to use waves, and not raw wave knowledge
actually good video
This is why you guys are the best.
What the hell was that riven holy moly, gives me hope in gaining rank
4:20 "remember Hector is a no-life challenger player" got me dead XD
When did the cho recall to regain health? Video implies he didn't but he's gained 350 health so when and why?
Maybe I'm mistaking but When you asked what Camille could do with the Frozen lane. I thought that she could maybe position herself near her minions to bait heckter into damaging her and so force him to push the lane faster since all Cho abilities are aoe 🤔
Lane was not frozen, it was slowpushing. Even minion closer to the tower
The wave would have pushed back into her if she just sacc'd like 2-3 cs instead of trading with cho.
@@mathiftwt was but hecktor was doing his best to keep it there for as long as he could. What I meant was that she could have tried to make the bounce back happen faster. The real question is; would that have been worth the HP loss ?🤔
its a good idea but it wouldnt work. Camille's bait wont work as hector's plan is to just slow push and not dmg the wave
@@kobenodders3800 There was a couple times Hector had more minions + it was closer to the tower, so if Camille did nothing it slow pushes into her which is fine. The matchup is so garbage that camille could freeze it by her tower and basically uno reverse the lane.
2 things I wanna warn people about skillcapped.
1) the rank up "insurance" expires AT the 30 days. You need to be aware of that and decide at day 28-29 if you can get that refund. I tried at day 32 and they refused because "it's past the 30 day mark"
2) their website is WORTH it. Most other coaches and websites cost upwards of $100-$300, I've had 3 separate sessions costing $80 total, plus unlimited videos for every role. Their stuff works if you have the time and effort to commit to using them.
where do you see a product with no time limit return policy? 30days is standard. Some even just 7days & 14 days for other products lol
I think at the end of the day toplane is not necessarily the hardest role in the game
It's the hardest in terms of laning phase
Jungle is the hardest in terms of macro and decision making
Adc is the hardest mechanically
Midlane has a bit of everything else so you need to be decent at a lot of things together
Sup, well that's probably the elo inflated one but a good sup definitely has knowledge of playstyles and roaming windows so there's not a role more difficult than another, it just comes down to what's easier for you
ADc is the hardest mechanically??? Its the hardest role in terms of positioning but not in terms of mechanics
@@larsvanhalder7355 Depends on the champion, really. Draven and Aphelios are mechanically challenging, but so is Yasuo, Lee Sin, and Riven (for example). All roles have their mechanically challenging champs. Personally I think ADC to be the most mechanically challenging because I find playing a ranged ADC to be difficult compared to melee or mage champs.
@@larsvanhalder7355 ADC is the hardest role to optimize damage output and impact. No "role" is the hardest mechanically, as champion difficulty is more impactful but positioning is probably the hardest mechanic in the game.
@brydonthunder in my opinion, positioning is not something you can call mechanical, but falls more into the category of game knowledge and fundamentals
you all missed the ranged top lane match up, we got vaynes, quinns and akshans top that just kite all these strats away
"Here's how to play top without learning specific matchups"
"First you need to know that Gragas E start beats Riven Q start"
1.30 min, they show 2 gameplay for darius / urgot and camille / renek , the outcome on both is the normal one xd
This guide is useful but you listing Gragas vs Riven like its a matchup that requires brains for the gragas even though its a direct counter to Riven lol
i reeeeally wish you guys would stop stating horrible opinions as facts, YES its true matchups arent clear cut when the players arent perfect at the champions but saying 100% garbage like "they dont matter at all" is completely infuriating baloney. disliked.
Jungle next pls
The actual proff Riven doesn't seems like a bronze player is because she actually falls for those trade baits in between minion number disadvantage, and the fake mistake at the gank.
In a real low elo match, most doesn't even consider the advantage on these trades, or aren't that confident into punishing someone's cooldown, they mostly get scared by "im lower hp than him, even thought he has less resources, he can still AA me and finish when the skills get back", they would be scared to trade at near-dive range, and suspect why an powerless Gragas is coming at them like he had 6x Conqueror, and even thought not falling for a bait seems like being wize, but its simply fear of the unknown.
Hector also hard countered riven with gragas
was the camille master as well?
Pls do Bot lane
"buff adc riot pls " i lost it here lmaoo
We cant see the other courses
gragas is literally unplayable for riven
This video cured my cancer and revived my dog. 10/10 would buy
It doesn't make sense when you speak about "Doesn't matter matchup under challenger"
When Hector knows HOW the matchup works and thats why he is winning Lmao.
This bro really sounds like Ezreal
Hector also played a poorly designed champion that denies any healthy form of interaction.
While the lessons in the video aren't wrong, vsing gragas is just a dodge angle.
I dont think fundamentals apply universally for all matchups. Some champions can ignore things like minion wave item advantage and level advantage.
Which ones? Can't think of any champion.
@@swityfx6383 Olaf, darius, tryndamere
Thats because ther isnt one this Guy just lose vs darius/Olaf and he said that certain champs ignore how the game works
@@alejandromolinacriado6039 i did not say i lose vs darius or Olaf. I said they defy some of the fundamentals of the game like item and wave advantage. This of course depends alot on the mathcup. Olaf can easily outsustain the damage from minions to a higher degree than the opponent. This makes it possible for him to fight into a stacked wave. Darius heals off of more targets like minions. He also clears the minions incredibly fast with his q. For this reason you are not always able to crash a wave into these champions, and your best bet is to try make them bounce it back to you instead of freezing you. They can easily win an all in against you even if you have a stacked wave
@@math693 Oh well now i understand better what you were trying to say thats pretty much correct
Hello. Solo lane player here. The best way to win these matchups is to never go to lane
would love to see an above master playing against a silver darius on top.
"Top is hardest role" - some guy that probably never played jungle
How to play vs Ornn: watch him getting 9000hp and become impossible to kill, while still being able to win every 1vs1, with ZERO damage items.
Perfectly balanced champ.
*Stares in Zilean*
yeah i dont think any master or diamond players play like this in any other region but NA. Region diff lmao.
They play like that in EUNE too 😂
Really it'd only be Korea and China that you'd be correct in. Diamond in EuW is pretty similar to Masters in NA, so these things would apply at diamond there as well.
@@SurriSama idk maybe i dont notice it, but in diamond/masters games for me i rarely see a camille hook shot with no grasp and do that. Only if they were boosted.
yeah that camille looked kinda like shitpicker123 in my bronze game yesterday
its an oce game and the riven has been d4 for 6 years and is randomly master this season. she dropped from 64% win rate shown in the video to 52% she has a 1kda
SKILLCAPPED FOUND THE MENTOS
I would love to watch him play Yorick Vs Irel/Mord...
Vs morde go qss first item with defensive runes.
Never use your W unless you already have qss or you are in his ulti and disengaging.
Then you are the king of the match-up, just gotta play super safe early and then you destroy him without efforts.
Knowledge check type of matchup
bro you legit said in the hector v camille "Hector knows how to play this matchup so he wins" but yet you're trying to say knowing matchups aren't important I don't get that tbh
wow
I’m hard stuck in Iron. Only one way up from here
isn't jg the hardest, u need to famr while taking heralds dragons and while perma ganking 3 lanes and needing to worry about enemy jg on top of that, on top u just sit there isolated and have to worry about enemy laner, farming and maybe not getting ganked
Macro wise yes jungle is harder, but top is far less forgiving. One mistake and you lost lane basically as long as the opponent does throw harder
10:25 "decent players"
*cancels auto twice and loses minion*
I love and hate top. I love it when I can crush the other toplaner and go play on the rest of the map. I hate it when the matchup is so intense that everything is frozen and nothing happens except a tedious CS session, wating for our teams to do something.
Try mid. You can impact the map a lot easier every game. If it's the champs you like playing top then fair but Vladimir, kennen, rumble(not sure after patch) all good mid layers that can play both roles well
@@TheJoeyacousticThis is why I take Sion mid sometimes. It's like playing on easy-mode. Much less stress in mid and there's more opportunities to do stuff. Top is so lonely it can be its own mini-game sometimes.
Number one rule of rules is knowing when to break them. If you have a rigid strategy that you always follow, people can exploit it
9:16 die for the wave! come on this is basic bausens law smh
teemo mains pressing AA Q AA
I clicked for Kayle, where is Kayle?
yorick dont have bad matchup
😌
5:26 im pretty sure its 3 melees 3 casters plus ward
How to beat Irelia? Compliment their butt then offer to buy them a skin if they throw.
9:36 bad trade pattern by Hector, he should just q first and save w. He was trying to make sure she doesn't e to dodge the q but her e has a cast time and the only way for her to use a fast enough cast would be to e towards Hector. If she then e's on top of him she gets silenced and can't cast q after an auto reset delaying dmg output from her and making it a kill angle for Hector since chogath q cooldown will be back up before her next E..
If you ask me cho gatch destroys camille the moment he hits lvl 3 (once i laggef so hard for 10 minutes and when my ping stabilized the camille just died e q w and half of her hp is gone)
You won me over in the first 2 seconds.
Edit: then you quickly reminded my that I ain't shit 😂😂
Gragas is one of the hardest counters of Riven, I am not saying that Hector is a bad player or don't deserve what he has, but that won't help gold players, if you always pull up a hard counter to teach, obviously it will be easy
Hence the Cho vs Cam portion of the video.
riven is countered by almost every top laner lol
I mean that's the reason you people will stay stuck at low Elo. Idk if it's IQ related or Ur Just stupid in general. Why are you focusing on the matchup instead of focusing on riven's foundamentals mistakes. Gragas's E is on cd and She doesn't replicate. in that portion of time riven completely destroys gragas but She is terrible
@@billthegreek sadly that's true asf, riven isn't in a great state of the meta right now, she can still impact on mid and late game very well, but in the first 10 minutes of the game, most chances are you are gonna get dived (if you play diamond +)
And then you look bot, and they are almost at your inhib min 10
Wth with cho gat runes
Hector for every video: oh sh*t, here we go again.
A masters riven not even animation canceling her q ??? I doubt it. I say she looks like bronze cuz of hector but to me she just looks bronze in general. Are u sure this is a masters riven ??
im sure that riven is master ok
ngl compare gragas vs riven is unfair gragas is one of the worst matchups for riven
gragas is the worst matchup for literally anyone just like malphite
Im iron gp toplaner Im here trying to improve
I'm sub on ur paid website, i love the content
But
Why do u do videos like HOW TO SCAPE ANY ELO (just to adc) or HOW TO PLAY EVERY MATCHUP (just to top) or the HOW TO MASTER x CHAMP (and jungle just has graves or lee)
Please, more jungle content, and bring up a Karthus jungle in ur Smurf comentaries plsss
Thanks
Top lane the hardest? I mean sure it's snowbally and binary as hell but as a jungler I have to know *every* matchup in *every* lane (well all right, only the basics, but that's still 4x the matchups you have to know) in order to lay out my game plan and know which lanes I should play around or hell, even know which lanes are gankable. All while taking into account which champion my opponent is playing which adds another infinity potential variables to the mix.
when you are losing cuz your trash jungler didnt help you crash the wave after the gank and you are forced to risk your life or line? Gold Elo
That riven is not masters
She is
@@HanTian777 she is master in OCE region , all these vids are made on OCE which is not even close to EUW players
@@red-7391 ok got it
Bro I was thinking the same thing she is not even aa or w canceling she just spammed q into his face every trade
So League is very similar to poker. Ya just need to play against players that are not as good as you are and you will win more often
I thought Top lane was the easiest to learn for noobs?
top lane is the hardest 💀
by far.
3mins in the Video ... "Matchups doesnt matter we show you why" ... also at 3 Minutes "Gragas E is stronger then Rivens Q" .. ye ehm.. sure as a normal gold-plat player you know that for sure.
Typical trash Rivens, think they auto win lvl 1
No life challenger 😭
playing against shen is always a free win. idk why people think he’s good or why they keep losing to him and give him such an inflated wr. nobody can play him correctly and they always build sunfire cape - the worst item to build on shen. it makes them fall behind in cs, and they end up having 1/3 of the enemy top lane cs at 10 minutes, and 1/4 at 20 minutes. thats like an 8-9 kill gold difference, and youre always heavily dependent on your team’s performance. you dont scale well at all, and you cant carry and snowball your lead when youre ahead. currently the worst champion to play for top lane rn. dont play him, and youll climb. youre welcome.
You obviously haven’t seen a good shen play. Because yeah you won’t have good cs, but you don’t need to buy expensive items to be effective either. And yeah you need at least one teammate to know what they are doing, so you need awareness and game knowledge to play to your team’s strengths. I would argue that shen is a great top laner who actually takes skill to play and climb with.
You probably main fiora with divine sunderer. So no wonder you think it’s a free matchup.
You'reprobably playing a chapion that counters him hard and punishes him heavily for leaving lane
I have 90% win rate in palt wtf
"Sunfire worst item" LMAO. Also its called Aegis.
proof that riven players are carried by champ
Tbf Phase Rush Gragas is shit match up for any Top laner, even if you know what you're doing.
pff... the idea that matchup doesn't matter is so dumb... as he proceeds to talk only about cooldowns, skills and trading... all super matchup specific...
I'm not really okay with 'hey our friend was smurfing in this game to show you', like this is the problem with League of Legends. Seriously.
All I'm seeing is a super boring NA challenger that plays for coinflip team and not trying to make anything happen actively. Put this guy in Korean challenger he's getting solo dove 24/7.
This is absolutlely not master tier riven gameplay. Stop fooling people with this guides.
Hardest? really? You joking right? I'm top main and i think top is the easiest role to play
Top is definitely the hardest role. Because you need all the macro and micro skills there.
Top is the second hardest after jungle lol what are you smokin
top is the most match up depending role and is the 3rd hardest role after Jungle and ADC. Mid and Supp are easier.
its true top is way too easy (im iron 4)
@@alessgr9394
Jungle is the macro role, but you can play champions that are less punishing for bad micro.
Mid is easier than top, because it's shorter, and has access to all parts of the map (so jungle and support can come help you)
ADC is all micro, almost 0 macro.
And support is mostly macro with some wave management knowledge required (to roam).
Only top needs a good understanding and execution of everything.
this is why youtube guides are bad IMO. Riven just has no chance to win against Gragas if the skill level is the same and at the top lane hence u have to know the matchup. And of course, the top lane dies because Jungle decided that the top lane is kinda dumb. I'm a top lane riven main.
the best/ fastest way is to find your own style of play and play with people that give you proper feed backs like playing in cafes or get to discord call.
