      1) yes this unit is setup for steering wheel controls. My xtrail actually does not have any steering wheel controls. Depending on your car, most of these units have plug and play harnesses that allow for steering wheel controls to work without any added harnesses.
      2) I have not tried carplay however I am sure it would. Now that you mention it, I will try it as well as android auto. Having said that I have android phones but do have a ipad so I may try that.

The link you have for the harness shows a part with 2 endings (red,brown) while my new station has one ending like yours on the video. I can't find one new already fixed with one ending? Do i have to cut and glue the wires manually? Thanks in advance....

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks! Wel, the link will show both ends of the connectors but you will only need the one side. In that case you would cut the red and brown connectors off and splice the wires to the new radio harness. Therefore, you will not need to cut the factory harness. You may be able to find a harness locally that does not have the added connectors. This was one that I found online for the purpose of showing what the connecors are needed.

    Hi, my x trail t30 has 3 connectors behind the stock stereo but every adapter harnesses fit only 2 of the 3. I have the exact same unit and it won't boot up when plugged with the 2 connectors that fit. Is the 3rd one mandatory ? Where can I find a 3 way adapter ?

    • @esqu3l3to
      @esqu3l3to  Před 9 měsíci

      On the two connectors, did you use adapter harnesses? if you did, check your 12v ignition wire (red) and also check your ground (black) wire.
      When I did mine, I needed to ground the wire to the metal frame right behind the radio as using the stock wire did not work. Also, even tho some cars have additional plugs, you dont always need them. Some have aux or other uses that dont make a difference when upgrading to aftermarket.

      ok then it sounds like you may have your constant (battery direct) wire and accessory wire backwards. Meaning the unit always has power from the battery even when you shut the car off. Check those two wires (tipically red for accessory and yellow for constant). Also go through your radio settings and find the shut off settings, it should give you a few options and change it to immediate shut off. Let me know if this fixes the issue. What car do you have and what radio is installed?
