Man, almost every single goal the Leafs scored was within a foot of the blue paint. Never thought they'd make the Panthers of all teams look soft in front of their own net
It's due to the Panthers acquiring Tarasenko and Okposo. They're fine players, but they dilute Florida's jerk quotient.
Leafs will blow it in the playoffs, I'll be waiting. Again...

Robertson is a pure goal scorer, injuries have screwed hon in his young career…hopefully he can stay healthy…he’s very underrated but every game he’s in he always gets good chances of scoring

It makes sense that the leafs struggle against teams after they pull their goalie. The leafs entire team is built around offence, we are literally the only team this season to never have been shutout. When the other team has an empty net it’s almost impossible for us to play offense, so it’s just a worst case scenario for us. Every team has a weakness, that’s ours.
That was a sick move. Me as a goalie couldn't have stopped that.

@@Dougie-ex1ov ultimately they did maintain the lead. Teams go up all the time, followed by the momentum swinging back in the favour of the down team. Not uncommon to see somewhat of a comeback after a blow out in the first two periods.

When Marner comes back, which line will he be added to? Domi, Bertuzzi and Mathews seem to have a good playing chemistry going on the 1st line now.
i honestly wouldnt hate bert/matty/domi and marner/tavares/willy as the top 6, that line of matty with bert and domi has been FIRE lately. I never thought I'd be okay with separating matthews and marner again but here we are.

I wish we traded for a 2nd line centre and then put tavares on 3rd line with knies and someone else.
Knies is nasty af and he’s huge; imagine going up against him and tavares in the playoffs as a Fkn THIRD line lol RIP, that depth would overwhelm anyone
Don't know but don't break up that first line, they are all scoring and Domi / Burtuzzi are a physical presence.
Marner has been playing with matthews for so long I think it’s wasting talent putting him on line 1 or 2, if he plays on the 3rd line his opponents will be much easier for him. But I’m sure keefe will fck things up at the end

Reavo best game as a leaf hitting everyone in sight. He's in playoff form .Papi the MVP on his way to 70 pucks.
I think Reaves has earned himself some playoff time. Being tough but not taking penalties. Making things difficult in the opposing end, and being responsible in his own end.

Man sanny has been on a tear in net of late and im all for his resurgence and wont be afraid to say i thought he was done. Still worried about the stinkers in the playoffs though. But he can make a 10 bell save every night it seems

@@davidjohnson-fw5coa poke check can result in being in a very vulnerable position for a goalie if done incorrectly or at the wrong time…aka concussions

It’s insane to me that on most teams there’s at most like 4, maybe 5 goal scorers. On the leafs, nearly every offensive player can consistently score AND half our defence too LMFAO

Hopefully once Rielly gets back it will help them defend leads. Not sure who will start in net in the playoffs? Sammy is making some amazing saves but these leads also seem to evaporate as of late.
@@soul76can its not just Rielly. You can make an argument that 3 of the top 6 defencemen are out right now. Rielly, Edmundson, Liljegren back in and Timmins, Giordano, Brodie out. Not to mention Marner and Jarnkrok who are also out are among their better defensive forwards

Finally they have a goalie that looks the part of a winner. let's hope this holds, Samsonov stays healthy and lifts his game when in the playoffs. The team needs to have a goalie they can have confidence in and rises to the job. After that players can play their game and the offence can score.

@@-Subtle-Keefe is the main problem they blow so many leads, I seen a video of him a month ago ish congratulating them for “their early push” where they scored 5 in the first two periods then let 4 in the third and he thought it was great that they only played 30 minutes of hockey because according to him “they only needed it” it’s embarrassing. And to add to that yeah I’ve never understood why they choose to play ONLY D when they’re up by a margin, they’re awful at playing D and samsonov is a terrible goalie who lets in constant stinkers when it matters. For the leafs the best defence is more offence, scoring 2-3 more in the third and putting the game way outta reach makes much more sense then trying to play a shutdown style, failing at it and letting in 4 goals and blowing the lead.

Ok... I've ragged on lya but he does have excellent reflexes when he sees the puck and is more than great in close, but... he seems to not be able to track some clear long shots or find the puck when he knows it's behind the net or coming into his peripheral vision. Has he had his eyesight checked out REALLY good? By pros? Seriously. Maybe something could be done to give him 100% goodness in these areas?

Congrats Leafs on beating your nemesis in the up coming playoffs. Good show of grit but I feel you still need to work on a more aggressive point man coverage from the wingers. Go Leafs Go. This team looks like it will be grittier in the playoffs. We have a good chance of getting past round 2 this year. Should be fun. Goal tending is weak and winger defensive coverage is too.

God! That third goal by Florida shows what the leafs wingers need to work on. Robertson and Knies were collapsed down into the slot marking no one, getting in the way and not looking behind them for the point attack. Florida used 3 forwards to score against 5 leaf defenders collapsed around the goal, puck watching.
Comeback was worth the Matthews empty netter
The Leafs are going to have to tighten up their play when they hold substantial leads. Stanley Cup winners don’t allow teams down 5-1 to take back the game
