The future of Dumaguete is bright ahead, a 174 hectares of land reclamation will soon become a reality through a Public Sector Partnership (PSP). However, this is still a proposal project to the City Government of Dumaguete. The reclamation project will be 30 meter wide from the original land mass parallel to the shoreline of the city. The total investment in this project will reach to at least 23 billion pesos. It is projected to be completed in 3 years time
The said proposal includes 5G ready connections, modern ferry boat, esplanades, coastal waste water treatment facility, shoreline, slope and water protection, marina and open area for sports facilities, hospitals, residential, condominiums, malls and more.

I want to go to Dumaguete not because of the big hotels, the modernized place, not even the beach. I can have that in Manila, Cebu, Subic or I can go to Singapore. The beach, i can go to Siargao or Boracay. The reason for visiting Dumaguete is simply because it is Dumaguete and no other place in the Philippines is like that. It is unique with the famous Rizal Avenue and most importantly, its gentle people. The small but famous restos where i can eat the well known Dumaguete sylvannas. . Add of course the beach too and the nearby Siquijor. In its totality, Dumaguete is a treasure that should be preserved... Hope it wont be exploited. High rise condos, hotels, malls replacing the small city vibe? Who will benefit!? Will the common people be able to live or walk freely on your exclusive condos and hotels? Please preserve the people, the natural resources and the culture of Dumaguete. Dont let the greedy politicians and businessmen exploit it

Hilarious, especially when they start showing the Singapore style skyscrapers, the swimming pools, the luxury yachts ... completely out of touch with reality, Dumaguete is a city where at least half the population is poor and struggling to put food on the table ... who's going to finance this? No chance ...
Assuming that they would even be able to finance (and finish) the reclamation, then the land will probably lay bare for a decade, before they even start building anything decent ... ridiculous plan but don't worry, zero chance of it becoming a reality.

According to the proposed contract, the city will only own 51% of the reclaimed area and this is shared with the Phil. Reclamation Authority. While this private corp will get 49%!!! As for the revenue from the businesses, Dumaguete will only get a share of 25%. This is NOT WORTH entering into an agreement with these Chinese investors. Where the first SM mall now stands and the international port is located, now the SRP where a third Bridge connects the City to Cordova, likewise a reclamation.
