  • This is a 10th Anniversary remastered edition of “Written in my Heart,” the final recording from Davy Jones of The Monkees. The song was created just for Davy, composed, performed, and produced by Chris Andrews (whose credits include Roger Daltrey, David Essex and other notables). Chris and Davy were close friends since they first met in 1962 (both of them were actors in the successful theatre version of “Oliver!”). As the years rolled on they worked on many projects together. This track was recorded in the UK and USA. Sessions started in 2011 at Songcrafters Studio (in Beavertown PA) with Skip Kline at the board. The lyrics for this song now feel prescient-released just days before Davy passed away on February 29, 2012. He truly took ownership of this sublime "swan song." OMG! So beautiful, touching and somehow ironic this was his last recording. Almost like his farewell song to all, especially his beloved family and The other Monkees.😢😢❤❤
    RIP dearest Davy. Always loved and remembered. Thanks for multiple generations of happiness!

      It's amazing that the Monkees never made fun of Dick Tracy either. At least I'm thrilled about that one. I Google searched for a cartoon deviantart that depicts Dick Tracy vs. Batman. For me, it's Eureka, I've found what I was looking after. Dick Tracy also never had a pet wolverine before.

    Johnny, thank you for your posts. I really enjoy them and know you knew him well so your comments have validity. Shoot me but I’m going to say something. I still remember my shock when he died. I also had a feeling that his life was going to go through changes. I didn’t have a good feeling about his last marriage lasting and I’m not convinced it was a “mistake” that he never changed his will and had Talia still as the executor. I know everything got sealed and have no idea how that lawsuit turned out, but wasn’t it just the summer before he died that she had filed for divorce? Davy was definitely a naive kid when he started out but I
    had noticed that he had developed much more business savvy through the years. I just don’t think he was as good at developing female savvy. I’ve read and heard multiple stories about what a good generous man he was and one of the smartest things I ever heard Micky Dolenz say was judging him by how his children turned out and it’s clear that all 4 adored him and thought he was an incredible father and grandfather. By the way it’s obvious watching you play and sing in the videos that you’re also a great talent.

      I can't help but feel Davy should still be here with us. I don't know what went wrong, but it's just an unsettled feeling I have had all along. Of course, nothing can change what happened, and I do 100 % believe he is in Heaven, reunited with his mom and dad and other loved ones.But it's only human nature to wonder why things happen as they do.

      I was in medical sales for 30 years and worked for the co that invented the pacemaker although I was in the neurosurgery division. He had probably been having vague symptoms. I don’t know if they did an autopsy but if they did they probably could see exactly to what degree his arteries were clogged and how many of them. That doesn’t happen overnight and because it’s usually a slow buildup the patient doesn’t realize the fatigue they were feeling. One of the first things a heart patient says after surgery is how much energy they now have. He had gained some weight. Not a lot but around the middle which is another factor. I think Micky D said right after his death that he thought his father had died young from something heart related. I never confirmed that but if it’s true that’s another risk. My husband’s father died in his early 60’s from a heart attack which makes my husband obsessive about being fit. He is either biking 50 miles a day or going to the gym every day but Wed. I know they found him in his truck and he was probably already gone. It’s easier from every standpoint to pronounce someone at the hospital than at the scene so most of the time they will try to work on the patient until they get to the hospital. There are just too many variables to ever know if anything would have changed if someone had been right there when it happened. Things had already started from the moment he said he wasn’t feeling well and went to his car. You’re right. It was definitely too soon. Micky D said afterwards something about how you can tell something about a person from the children they leave behind and commented about how great his daughters are. From what I’ve seen of them I 100% agree and it’s obvious every one of them adored him.

      Something I will never understand is why a cardiologist would have told him in the Spring of 2011 that he had the heart of a 25 year old. Yet the autopsy showed severe blockage that showed it was building up for quite some time.

    • @carlarenner555
      @carlarenner555 Před rokem +2

      @@mommy2kitty because they probably gave him a stress test and he passed it so didn’t see the need to order the next test had he failed Not sure what that test would be now but it used to be a dye test where they actually look at the arteries to see if they are blocked. Insurance won’t pay a lot of times for this test if patient had a normal stress test. My husband for 10 years about once a year will think he’s having a heart attack. To ease his mind a couple years ago they didn’t bother with the stress test and gave him the dye test PS My husband wouldn’t like hearing about that 25 year old heart comment because he had been told the same thing each time and he thinks they only tell him that LOL Must be a favorite cardiologist line they like to tell all their patients.

    Hey Johnny I have heard of this beautiful song and I have a question and hopefully you can answer it. What made Davy to record this song?

      DJ and Chris Andrews had known one another since 1962. In the 90s they stepped up working together on music projects. This song was another one off Chris's assembly line--who knew it would be Davy's last real session? Chris wrote it especially for DJ, who was game for it from the get-go.

      @@JohnnyJBlairSingeratLarge Thank you for the reply! I have been doing a lot of search on DJ's music and he has done some incredible albums. My favorite thus far is "She" because DJ covers amazing songs from classic artists.
      On another note, "Written in my Heart" is tune I am still trying to do research on. Thanks again for the reply I do appreciate it!

    All of you Monkees fans still gave me an idea. This is what I had in mind. Have the Monkees appear in one of the Gilligan's Planet comic book issues. I also got bruised really bad when the DC Comic book hero front cover artist has infringed on every Dick Tracy fan. He depicted Harley/Swier Durcholz going up against Dick Tracy. The DC Comic book hero story writer failed to be direct. He didn't depict Batman going up against Dick Tracy. It's just that I know reality too well. You want me to go tell this to Mariska Hargitay? If you expect to find one Dick Tracy impersonator in a New York DC Comic book hero convention center, you can just as might as forget, because you're not going find any. You can't force someone to love whoever you want them to love. & besides, Dick Tracy represents a man of the Lord God. The Batman fans also knows that Dick Tracy is an investigator.
