Different mic brands and sound. I prefer the AKG sound in most cases. But Audio-Technica still makes great microphones. It’s all about preference you know.

what's good man. I'm currently recording with an akgc414 and I find that due to the lack of treatment in my room, my vocals pretty much always sound boxy no matter what I do to manipulate them. Would you say this mic is less sensitive in a sense that it may help the issue I am having recording at home? appreciate it if you have some Input!

Bro great review man made me go back and get my AKG P120 that i borrowed out.
I had to drop two likes because I think I may have found someone who knows what they are talking about! I created an home studio for myself years ago (bare minimum); and I started off with a blue yeti microphone. To me, it always done the job but being that my cousin always paid for studio time, he always preferred XLR mics. I honestly don't see the difference, but I just got and hooked up my AKG P120 like two days ago. I do hear a bit more crispiness. I am old school and if it isn't broke don't fix it!
That being said, I had the opportunity to get a red mic (don't know the name) that priced like $679, but I seen one of your videos with the blue yeti mic (I think it was a comparison video of a few mics). That video alone and a few comments from there is what convinced me to purchase this mic. I know absolutely nothing about amps, preaamps, etc. The way I seen it, being that I am new to sound, its smarter to start with this mic. I actually purchased a bundle from sweetwater. This bundle was around $270 (Focusrite Interface). Why buy a mic for nearly $700 and I still have to buy another component just to get it to work? So I went with this setup and paid maybe a quarter of what I would've spent on the expensive mic, plus interface.
All in all, I am glad I found this channel and I hope I can learn as much as possible about xlr mics, and mixing and mastering. Great video and channel!

Great Review Man! I actually bought two on the fly for an impromptu pianist performance last month. And all I saw best on hand at a Sam Ash were the AKG P120s. They did not disappoint. Piano sounded immaculate playing my recorded tracks back. Best bang for the buck!

I had a nuemann u87 AI it’s a $3000 mic and There is no difference between it and my $100 mic. The brand makes it expensive not the quality

Please help me...I have connected my akg p120 with m audio air 192 4 with phantom power on, but i need to turn the input gain fully at 10db, then only it sounds little and only green led shows on -20db, i am recording on fl studio.... But on other hand using same xlr cables when i connect other microphones like bm800 or dynamic mics with gain set to 6 or 7 db, they are doing great job with proper all led meters showing... Please can you help me
How do you feel about this mic vs AKG P220? The 220 basically just has a larger diaphragm and comes with a shock mount and a fancier metal case lol.
I would love it if you could make a review of the $299 Miktek mk300 large-diaphragm condenser microphone. I've heard amazing things about this mic but would love it if you could review it and possibly compare it to the LA-220. Love your reviews!

Good Morning from Denver. Great Studio. I just bought this as I am doing PodCast, but my partner is telling me that I need to be right up to the mic, as in an inch or two away from it when I am speaking. Your saying and through the video you're about 5-6 inches away and sound great! Could it be that I have low quality computer?

Hey, great channel. lots of cool stuff. I reviewed your video about the AKG P120 and may be getting that one, thanx for the advice. Also, i would like to know how to achieve the sound that they have - talking about professional recordings. Like for example, if you listen to say Led Zepplin III and how that sounds - not so much the music but the tonal quality as compared to say, someone making a recording using top end equipment - mics and recording gear, but it still sounds different. I suppose another way to compare it would be to listen to a low budget radio station as opposed too a high budget radio station. Or, a 45 rpm compared to an LP. What is the equipment that they use to achieve that final better sound? Yeah i know, everybody says mostly reverb and digital echo, but i think that there is something else as well . . .

Hello, can you tell me how the P120 reacts in an untreated room in terms of reverberation / echo (if you shout or sing loudly for example). I have a strong hesitation between the P120 and the Shure SM58 (intended rather for the stage), it is the problem of the reverberation which makes me hesitate (for recording vocals and rap).

Would you say the Volt 2 is a great interface for the AKG p120? I’m not sure if it’s bringing out the best sound of this mic you’re also the second artist I’ve seen flip the mic upside down does that make a difference?
