I respect what Dan Severn is doing. Hes not acting like hes still a top fighter. Hes 65 years old and just wants to keep fighting without getting his head kicked in.
Is he really still fighting at 65?! That's fucking insane 😂😂
@@jwright8682 Not still. But he was 53 years 10 months old at the time of his last MMA bout.
oh i didnt know when his last fight was but i know he was very old
Dan Severn fought so long he even fought Forrest Griffin
@@cosmic_JAV A debuting Forrest Griffin at that.
To be fair, most of Dan Severn's wins weren't won by him, they were won by his mustache.
Khabib's entire career in Russia is one long training session.
😂 mans was hard sparring till the ufc and even then asides from 5 fighters, the rest of the guys are SUS!
@@TheSquad4life On top of that, he somehow avoided all decent grapplers.
@@piotrd7355rda was hailed as one of the best ground guys when khabib beat him and after that rda went on to become champ in 11 fights rda lost only to KHABIB
And then he faced Conor and it was a short training session
@@piotrd7355Poirier and Barbosa- BJJ black belts. Justin G. Division 1 wrestler. RDA- 4th degree black belt in BJJ. Go home and fap it to 2015 McGregor highlights casual boy.
This is one of the reasons why i liked Brock so much. His first fight in UFC was Heath Herring, former Heavyweight challenger in Pride. ...and then the next 3 or 4(?) Fights were against former/current champions! He went into the deep end quick!
Looking the way he does and with his pedigree as a wrestler he kinda had to go swim with the sharks 😂
No, his first fight was actually Frank Mir, arguably the best guy in the division at the time, sidelined due to a nasty as fck motorcycle accident. Lesnar lost the first fight, barely, then smashed Herring.
@a_fuckin_spacemarine7514 Wow... I had that totally wrong in my mind lol I thought it was a warm-up fight in another promotion, then Herring and then Mir. With my memory though, I am not surprised lol
With his size advantage he kind of had to.
@tianshi2006 I agree with the Carwin fight. That could have been stopped at many points and it was have been justified. Buuuuut, Brock proved that maybe the Ref made a good call by letting it go on.
I saw Dan Severn crush this guy at a small fight in Houston. Years later I was thinking of the fight, and it had to have been a fixed fight. Dan did a pro wrestling style arm drag and threw the guy across the ring, then he mounted him and dropped double arm Hulk smash style hammer fists. I then ran into his opponent at an MMA gym, I recognized his name and asked “oh you fought Dan Severn?!” He said no. I caught myself and realized he probably doesn’t want to have a talk about whether or not he took a dive. His friend interjects “yeah you fought him at the Arena Theater”, then he goes “oh yeah, I did…man he hit me with a crazy throw…I was like damn this dude is strong”.
I read your post, and I'm confused. Was it a fix or not?
@@cosmic_JAV it was a fix, the opponent that I talked to obviously was saving face when he described the fight, knowing that I probably knew it was a fix, of course I didn’t call him out, it was just an awkward moment.
@@NoirTech83 oh ok. I was like wait was Dan just that strong he threw the guy across the mat lol. Sorry was pretty wore out from work and wasn't thinking that great lol
Lol like you'd forget fighting Dan Severn.
why would severn need someone he could dominate take a dive
The Charlie Z dude probably doesn't see himself as a can crusher, with him challenging/sucker punching average gym goers at Planet Fitness as they put their gloves on 😅
He'd have to win those random assaults first 😂
Nah he is an undefeated legend
Charlie Zelenoff the true, undefeated and undisputed GOAT
The development of mma on point has been beautiful to see. All of you there are awesome, and we are lucky to have you.
Ladies and gentleman here we have the undisputed champion of s1mps
Shinashi submitted Watanabe the first time the fought. Actually, she went full Palhares on her and Watanabe had to be carried from the ring. But, for some reason, people only remember the rematch where Watanabe got the KO. Also, Shinashi was almost too small for atom weight. She crushed cans...but almost all of the cans (and legit fighters) were significantly bigger than her.
Travis Fulton was fighting in the early days before the commissions. He'd fight 3 guys on a Saturday, then fight another 3 on Sunday. All the time. Getting paid little or nothing. Not making excuses, but the guy loved to fight.
And abuse. Hes a nonce mate' POS is burning in hell

I love the beast. He is an absolute legend.
Where's Paddy Pimblet?
No
@@user-jw2mu6vb3l Paddy wont sh@g you mate
Not a can crusher. The cans actually give him some trouble.

But remember Dan was fighting in his 40s and I think 50s to so still impressive.
Not when you're participating in fake/fixed fights.
How Khabib was left off this list is crazy
Thinking the same thing
Because everyone he fought in the UFC had a winning record and still has a winning record? He beat former Champs and future Champs, dominating them in the process.
Can crushers beat nobodies and that's it, they fail against tougher competition. Khabib dominated "tougher" competition.
@@SuperMontsta Exactly. You can argue his goat status maybe but he was never a can crusher
Dan severn is a legend .
How did Jeremy Horn not make this list? Dude is 92-22-5-1 !!
Ikr
Khabob better be #1 on this list
Mma on 🎯
Low IQ
what about king can crusher khabib?
Because he's not the king of can crushing for obvious reasons (this video).
Can crushers typically don’t become world champions in one of the most cut throat divisions in the sport, defend the belt 3 times via finish and retire undefeated
I appreciate the earnestness of Luke saying "Whole canned chicken" because I made a disgusted face typing it out
That literally sounds like cancer and salmonella
@@PrinceIsot and somehow looks worse!
The Luke "cameo" was excellent.
Calling dan a can crusher should come with the asterix that he is also one of the godfathers of mma.
Also fucking wild that forest griffin's fucking debut came against dan severn. Like everyone who trained mma back then mustve known dan severn.
Fedor, khabib anf connor need to be on this list
Of course, the cans that were Big Nog and Cro Cop who he beat in their prime and when they were both the top ranked HW in the world and who both came to the UFC completely washed and Big Nog still won a HW title in the UFC while completely washed years after Fedor handled him with ease when Fedor was still clearly a much better fighter with far more left than Big Nog. Just say you just started watching and don’t know the sport.
@@FreefallSC HEAR HEAR mate. Very well put. Casuals are zoomer filthbags
Fedor? You should give reality a call - you've been out of touch
@@FreefallSC Cro Cop? Who da fook is dat guy?
Khabib should be but ....
Mvp once fought a dude who worked at the concession stand.
hahahaha
Early MMA can crushers had an absolute feeding frenzy, even in the UFC itself
Reinhardt was actually one of my coaches some years back, spent about 3 years training under him. Guy's Jits is LEGIT, he just wasn't a top level guy by the time he got there. Awesome coach tho and a lot of wisdom of the old school days of fighting! Also wanna say about Illinois on the amateur level, the competition has grown leaps and bounds since those days. There's not a lot of promotions out of here, but quite a few legit ones in surrounding states. And definitely some good teams with a lot of talent!
Oh man, calling out MVP just felt so good.
That was 100% on Scott Coker match making. He was trying to get bigger fights and calling out guys for bigger fights and unfortunately he had Scott Coker promoting him and his career was wildly mismanaged. He had to take boxing fights and shit to stay busy because Bellator was too much of a joke to get him good fights and keep him busy.
@@FreefallSCNo. MVP went to boxing for an easier job finding cans. But they got onto him so he only fought twice. MVP is scared. Plain and simple.
Yeah, I bet he sees it and calls Scott for a fight now (but not too tough 😅)
People have been calling him out for years
@@klimero271It makes sense if someone is a flashy fighter and fans love to watch them do their thing. How much sense does it make to have them fight some top fighter who's going to nullify that and likely have a fight far less impressive or even boring
Love these vids! Considering McGregor’s current record on TUF, we need the next video to be the 10 Worst TUF Coaches of all time!
To be fair to my man Dan Severn, he is by quite a large bit the most legit guy on this list.
Crazy how Khabib didn't make the list at all.
Undefeated, undisputed.
Because he's not even the biggest.
Because he’s not close and fought plenty of world calibre competition. Fun fact he actually ended up becoming the lightweight world champion and retired undefeated
@@booognishFanboy found
@@carphucker2973 Fun fact: He's been retired for years, you can take his johnson outta your mouth. Another fun fact (maybe not for you): His first 20 or so non-UFC fights *were* against cans.
His UFC career certainly wasn't can crushing, but everything that led up to it was. He validated himself once he got there no doubt, which is I assume why he wasn't on the list. Let's not deny reality though...his first 20 fights in Russia were against cans...
what is not known is how difficult it is to get fights booked at the regional level and often promoters have to just get guys that are healthy.
THIS
Nah everyone knows you’re meant to fight Jon Jones in your professional debut otherwise you’re a can crushed
Just saying, an occasional can crusher is fun to watch
Aye if youre a pro wrestling fan
If they get crushed themselves #MVPvsLima 😊
The reason it happens in boxing is because amateur boxing and professional boxing are so vastly different (see Lomachenko's second pro fight for reference), and so you need to slowly transition your style from the amateur system to professional via a series of winnable fights to gain valuable experience and remove amateur tendencies.
Also, see Claressa Shields' pro career, whereas now she's washing girls in brilliant displays, back then, she was basically just out speeding them in brawls due to her more amateurish tendencies (which got her knocked down against Hanna Gabriels).
MVP reminds me of the players who can only win games on easy mode and suffer on anything higher than medium
😂😂😂👍
Maybe but It makes sense if someone is a flashy fighter and fans love to watch them do their thing. How much sense does it make to have them fight some top fighter who's going to nullify that and likely have a fight far less impressive or even boring

“Who’s my pro debut? Oh it’s 89 and 17, Dan Severn” 😂😂😂
Dan Severn fought pretty much everyone from the early days by the time he was fighting cans he was old.
a certian somebody (nurmagomedov) is missing from this list
Bobby Lashley Definitely should be on the list. A 15-2 record but almost every opponent had a losing record or it was their first fights. They wanted another Brock Lesner, so gave him a bunch of cans to beat to make him look impressive.
Hager too
And he still didn't do anything noteworthy in MMA
That’s a fair point, but he started his career when he was like 32 years old after many years as a pro wrestler. You can’t really expect him to face killers even though he has a pretty decent amateur wrestling background. I respect him for giving mma a chance. At least he wasn’t as delusional as CM Punk to think he could be a threat in the UFC😂
@@gunsharckdidn't he only have one fight? Or does he still even fight?
Ironically, Brock is actually the opposite of a can crusher. He's only fought top opponents.
If this list was honest Khabib would be on it
Edit: It is genuinely hilarious that anytime a dagestani fanboy sees any type of criticism towards their lord and saviors khabib or islam, their delusional brains automatically think you’re a connor fan even if he has nothing to do with the conversation lmao.
Yes he had like 5 or 6 really good fighters on it, the rest uhhh idk
strange way to spell "mcgregor"
Kabib beat some of the greatest lightweights of all time.
No one on this list got close to that. There's no way you think the last 10 fights of his career were against cans.
Tbh I think he was fighting his own family members in the beginning 😂
@@Bayliunno he was on about the first 20 not the last 9...
The Beast is still stretching dudes. A friend was working in a gas station near the Severn compound. It was a popular stop fro Severn's students and he heard all their stories about getting worked over by Dan. As a kid I loved watching a local commercial for Furniture Gallery that had Dan wrestling recliners.
Time for the MMA Legends series to return! Starting with Robbie Lawler!
i dont think you can call miguel torres a can crusher, the guy was the bantamweight champ in the wec, those guys are as legit as they come, unlike bellator or pfl and was destroying everyone until brian bowles ended his carrer
it's the same company were dominick cruz and jose also were champs in, miguel torres just was never the same after his first KO loss
His record consists of more then enough cans to call him a can crusher
Torres was a bad man. Loved watching him in wec
Can crushers do sometimes have legitimate competition. A can crusher is simply someone who have a lot of people on their record that they had no business fighting because it was such a mismatch. Miguel Torres fits the bill

That Douglas Lima run was phenomenal 👏
Severn may have an f ton of cans on his record but he is also from a time of take on all comers so I’m indifferent to that one.
Lets just say theres a reason MVP has never made it to the ufc.
This is why.
Check out Adam yandiev. He was undefeated got signed to ufc and got absolutely destroyed with 0 sig strikes landed I believe
Thanks for the shout out 😂😂😂
...."but he still stomped plenty of dudes in the recycling bin." 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Torres was just good at a lower weightclass before that was really a thing. It's not like there was a place he could go when he was starting out to fight the top bantamweights, cause those places didn't exist before WEC. His choices really were either crush cans on the regional scene or not fight at all. There really just wasn't an option of a place to "step up" at smaller weight classes until Zuffa bought WEC in 2006.
Anyone know what movie the George Clooney clip is from?
Miguel Torres was badass. Would love to see him vs bayliun lol
Damn! First time I'm this early for an upload! Best MMA content on you tube!
A lot of Fulton's shows were put on by Fulton himself, in a state without an athletic commission, basically so he could pad his record and get paid to go on trips around the world by promotions wanting to promote a fight involving the man with the most fights in MMA.
Like Severn, he WAS a legitimate fighter, though of course not as good as prime Severn, but he was a solid regional journeyman who beat some unquestionably legit dudes in legit promotions. But much like Severn in his later years he loved cans and worked fights. I'm pretty sure the two of them fought between 3 and 5 times. Dan also ran a promotion with a lot of works if I recall.
Dan Severen's stache could crush cans.
Some can crushers are great prospects who no one wants to fight. We have one at our gym who’s 5-0 and dominates everyone. He’s a d1 wrestler and football player who has dominated everyone he’s fought but we can never find him a tough opponent because they always turn him down
Did some counting for y'all comparing Khabib with Miguel Torres
Khabib fought 13 times in the UFC and dominated every time. His 16 pre-UFC fights (not counting the 28-22 anomaly here in Arymarcel Santos, his last fight before UFC), opponent combined record is 37- 24 with 4 fighters who had no wins.
Miguel Torres first 19 fights before he lost his first fight combined opponent record is 24-10 with 13 fighters who had no wins.
Yeah, most of khabib's opponents before ufc were bums. Definitely a padded record but still great.
Not saying you're wrong, but I wouldn't say he "dominated" in his fight with Tibau. Still, one relatively close fight shouldn't change anything you said. Thanks for the info!
@@loubloom1941 to be fair. they have to fight the bums to get to the top and for him it was in russia so he was not really on the ufc radar for a while. so you cant give him to much shit. cause either way he mauled everyone in the ufc. he never had his own blood spilled in the ufc if i remember correctly.

MVP must be here
Would you consider Hector Lombard a can crusher ?
We need more Luke appearances please!
In MVP’s defense. Yes. A lot of people beat lower tier fighters.
Zero make it as flashy or as entertaining.
And Dan Severn gets a easy pass. The dude was 50+ and fighting 20 year olds. So it’s on them to win. And he fought because he ran Dangerzone (Rampage. Evans. Dunham got their starts there) but he headline the almost every care he had because he knew it was the best way to get butts in seats to watch the other fighters and help them get noticed.
So he was running around and getting in the family van to get guys water, make sure the lights are running. Emt’s arrived. Porta johns are delivered and clean. Then he took that hat off to go fight. And directly after the fight, he was cleaning the arenas and making sure people got paid and what not. The dudes a stud.
I dont know why or where or when the term Can started being used in this way but wow what an awesome thing it is!
"Tomato can" is a term used in boxing to describe guys who are an easy win and made its way to MMA.
You can't fault Dan Severn, or anyone from his generation, for fighting cans! There wasn't a whole lot of experience fighters to begin with. They got paid like shit so of course they're going to take the path of least resistance to get a paycheck. A lot of the fighters weren't trying to pad their recrds by fighting so often. They were padding their pockets. And back then you could possibly get a shot at the ufc belt just for going on a 5 or so fight winning streak in the regional circuit.
I had to wrestle against Dan Severn's son Austin back in high school on the regular as he was a couple towns over and we went to all of the same tournaments as them because their school was one of the best small schools in the state. Then when I went to college I tried to walk on to the wrestling team just to have to wrestle him again and getting my ass beat lol. I ended up quitting shortly after that because I didn't have the grades to stay a part of the team.

lmao I started a new character career in EA ufc 4 under the womens' bantamweight division and ya even when my character got ranked she kept getting all unranked or lower ranked opponents right up until the title shot like she would be number 9 fighting number 12, would win that fight and find herself at number 7 in the rankings right after. I don't think she fought an actual top 5 contender until it was her turn to defend 😂
I want to have a drink with Luke. Sounds like a right laugh.
Shonie Carter had a ton of fights and Jeremy Horn too. Many cans in there? Too lazy to check myself.

What about Chris Cyborg? She is the Queen of crushing cans to pad her record.
I think "can" should also apply to former MMA fighters who are well past their prime, have had several knockout losses (over 5), or have had major surgeries that should disqualify or dissuade them from competing on a professional level. Maybe "can" isn't the right word, but this list had me thinking of Jake Paul and his "meteoric rise to fame" off the backs of former MMA stars who were definitely not 100% or even 80% of their prime level. Of course, it's blurring lines between boxing and MMA, but Jake should honestly be called a can crusher for what he's doing.
