1:16 Before you cut into a steel drum like this, make damn sure the old contents of the drum were not flammable. Vapors can be just as explosive as the former contents, and guys have gotten killed cutting or drilling into "empty" drums that exploded. A guy in Pennsylvania got killed by a burn barrel last week. There was another incident in Iowa that killed a man who was welding on top of a barrel, using it as a workbench. The drum exploded, killing him and setting a building on fire. Filling the drum with water before cutting into it can displace explosive vapors, if done correctly. No grill project is worth losing your life.

@@legiran9564 correct. If you were to do this for a forge another option would be cat litter. I learned this on forged in fire when the contestants had to make their own forges.
Beautiful project, i searched this to make something for the festive season. Also if i may ask is it advisable to put some concrete mixture on the bottom of the base whether fire is to be lit so as to retain alot of moisture?
You're supposed to fill it about 1/4 full with a 50/50 mix of kerosene and diesel.. Then pile in your favorite fuel from yard debris.. Carefully light ,let it burn and cook down to a simmering stew, Next place your cut of meat over the steaming and smoky grates, and let cook until the meat reaches the proper temperature. Amazing flavor,.. It's also great for seafood on skewers.
@Jason Russell what are you talking about 50/50 mix kerosene and diesel. Then favorite yard debris. I hope you joking or you just happened to use the incorrect words to describe your method of how to kill yourself slowly or poison someone when grilling. Shit I use thin dried up twigs from my pecan tree, paperbag underneath briquettes on top of the twigs. Light it up with a portable torch. Pork I substitute the briquettes with either cherry wood or apple (fugi) wood. I got other methods but those I take to the grave 💯
Using that grinder and cutting wheel without a guard is completely dangerous and uncalled for. This is a great video but someone watching it will try this and get hurt

说的好,就应该如此
BEAUTIFUL work, I'd be proud to have this for my outdoor use😊
Beautiful job bro! Thank you for sharing!
You put the fire directly on the barrel. It won't last long.
How would you do it sir

@@conradpaul6100 legiran is right coal burns metal and won't last long. A layer of ceramics and sands will help as it acts as a fire retardant.
@@Generalphoenix8438 Cat litter carbonizes in intense heat. Makes excellent isolation material. Can't say about the smell though.

I would have built a charcoal ash pan grill for the bottom instead of just burning on plain barrel it won’t last long
Would your place your firewood/charcoal on the same grill?

Nice video. What kind of metal did you use for the grill grates?
Thank you for watching the video. I use a steel grill
@Garden Design thanks..
Lmao that answer tho he probably used stainless
I’m almost positive it’s galvanized which is pretty toxic especially for food applications maybe not the actual grates but the grate framing
Tambahkan sekat besi untuk kayu, jangan di alas drum. Tidak akan awrt, akan bolong

Why do you need to remove paint?
The red paint probably lacks heat-resistant properties, so it burns, chips off, and looks ugly.
