    My dude, raid North Africa and the Med, especially when farming the prestige because if you have at least two full stacks of Varangians the pope will suicide his troops into yours repeatedly for massive prestige gains, even as you get fat stacks from the disparate Italians

      Only way to survive is to kidnapping priests from large realms (high income priests) or with priests with stackings gold (gold will be inherit)-just recruit priest first time from prison to your court, then imprison second time and banish. 1000-2000 from one priest is very powerful instead searching infinite hooks. In 1100 will be persons with 10000 gold). With traditions on mercenaries you are strong to defend even without alliances

    I've played an Isle of Mann only challenge before and what I like to do is as soon as I become a Duke/Jarl I change the succession law to Scandinavian Elective. For RP purposes I was trying to do it so that every ruler of the island would be a female giant and it was the only way to do it since Asatru is male preference.

    So this video actually helped me understand men-at-arms and why I shouldn't neglect them the way I do. I almost always forget about them, and then I have a huge army that gets decimated and until now I could never figure out why. I am sure at some point the game explained it to me, but there's so much to this game some stuff goes over my head. Excited to focus more on men-at-arms and see if it actually helps me be more successful in wars. Thanks for the video!

    elevating the kingdom of man and the isles is probably the most powerful decision in the game. not just for the benefits in the mön, but since ALL your tribal holdings become feudal you save a ton of gold. for the people not doing a one county challenge you can also get strathclyde, the southern isles and the northern isles as a de jure part of your kingdom if you hold them when you make the decision.

      @NemoA90 Před 2 lety +1

      @@zjpdarkblaze yeah becoming the greatest of khans is really strong, but only for your current character. sure, your heirs can inherit what you conquer, but not the raw power. the army of 7500 you get with the kingdom of man and the isles is pretty much icing on the cake. 100 years of the stolen city is incredible and the +20 development usually puts you on par with rome or constantinople. the foundations you get with man and the isles is so much stronger in the long run that i think it overshadows the greatest of khans.

    Pro tip, get the Viking trait on your character, even if they suck at martial because you get a prestige bonus. Also raiding the papacy is an easy prestige farm because the pope will always raise an army and fight you. Plus he only will be able to raise 2000 men. And big loot as well.

      Actually I think you can raid as long as you like with this decision if I'm not mistaken. To raid you need one of two things: a tribal government or you follow an unreformed faith. With this decision it lets you bypass the requirement to reform your faith to become a feudal government type. So you get access to all the juicy innovations while still being able to raid 👍.

      1. Because you have to disband your army after wars. It costs a lot to maintain them as active troops.
