- This past July on my trip down to Georgia, I made sure to plan a day to go film RSI, and their beautiful fleet of brand new state of the art trucks! Seen here is their newest, and most modern truck! This new piece of equipment allows them them to service more customers in a shorter amount of time, and really dominate their competition! They also have started using new technology not many operations in their region have yet, called the human tipper. With this inexpensive modification, a 16 year old boy will easily lift carts by hand, therefore taking all the wear and tear onto himself, extending the life of the truck itself. There is also talks of expanding that same technology to the blade, and using said 16 year old boy to jump on the trash to pack it instead of using the blade, to also cut down on all the wear and tear caused by running the blade back and forth, but that phase of the technology is still is the design phase.

The best description I've ever read! Honestly, Georgia's new technology is shocking sometimes - their ideas are top notch. Other companies around the country should take note so trucks don't get scrapped too often.

The point of the cart tipper is not to load so much trash by hand. Start with an empty hopper. Dump a cart with the tipper and then cycle the packing blade. Your trash will pack tighter that way and truck will hold more before you need to dump it off. You’ll get less trash getting by the blade and falling in the front, too. The way you’re fighting with garbage now, you’d Almost be better off just picking up trash with a 1 ton flatbed with sides.
This trucks packer is similar to that of a front loader. when it startes to get full, you get a lot of push back from excess trash. On a front loader, that’s alright since it loads from the top. On this truck, the tipper dumps too shallow, so when the push back starts, the tipper is pointless. If we had a higher-dumping tipper, we would be using it.

interesting truck, we've all seen worse tippers for sure. do you know why the knee was necessary whenever Will tipped a cart?
I’m pretty sure the blade would creep when you ran the tipper, so you’d have to hold the blade in reverse so it wouldn’t creep forward and crush the cart.
hydraulics are fucked. tipper wont work unless you hold the packer down and rev the hell out of it.

Wonder how much weight that small unit could pack? International 4700 "lo pro" with small tires. Doesn't really look that much more GVW than say a Ford F-550. The packer would really have been much better as a "half-blade" design. Seems to push back the trash decent enough, but half of it falls back into the hopper, lol. Great find though, it's certainly an older truck!
We average 1.5-2 tons on here, less if there’s a lot of cardboard. I agree with the “half-blade” statement. Here, once we get to a certain point, the tipper will just tip on top of trash, so it’s useless. Hence why I lift so much by hand.
maby its time for a normal garbage truck
