Do you have to install software on a windows 10 laptop to use ipad pro m2 external display feature, or is it plug and play?
Luma Fusion on the external display… hmmm that might be interesting!
I tried it a little bit but it was kind of wonky, maybe I’m too used to traditional editors but Luma fusion without touching the screen isn’t my favorite.
I like stage manager concept but compatibility is a big issue. I have a 2020 iPad Pro as my main and not having stage manager is sad
It’s also frustrating because the things apple says are the reasons for not including it on non-M1 iPads aren’t actually exclusive to M1. MaxTech has a video on it
I am so excited to try all this stuff out! My 11” iPad Pro M1 is already my favourite device to use, excited to be able to use it instead of my MacBook more!
I’m also probably a bit more excited for the weather app on macOS and iPadOS than I should be 🤣
My iPad Pro 3rd generation doesn't extend the iPad screen(as a different monitor), it only mirrors, how did you do it ?

I'm excited to try out the new Stage Manager + proper monitor support features! The questions of "do you still need that PC?" are getting louder...considering it's very possible to connect the iPad to a server (via ssh, etc.). I'm also about to upgrade to one of the iPad Pro models for that ProMotion display--the higher refresh makes SO MUCH difference for using the Apple Pencil. Can't wait!

Do you need a MacBook or just iPad Pro? I also have both and YOU NEED THE MACBOOK. Even giving a handicap for the beta version, OSX Ventura or older versions are way more productive, easier to select items and works so much more smoothly. The iPad Pro is definitely way better but in my opinion, it’s still an accessory. But if I ONLY have an iPad Pro, my 12.9, I can still do work but more slowly.

I just recently got an iPad Pro, and I'm liking it's accessibility features! I upgraded from the iPad 6th Generation, which until recently, became harder to use. You see, I like to compose music with my iPad (not really my iPhone), and I've had experiences where GarageBand would crash, and sometimes Voiceover itself would crash, which would mean that I would have to either wait about five minutes or restart VoiceOver. I also would use it for the occasional Python program, which was grate when I wanted to work on a coding project on the go. I was going to get the iPad Air at first, but the 128 GB storage option was what I need because of the space requirements of working with lossless music files. The price of the 128 GB air and the 128 GB iPad Pro were almost identical, So I got the pro. Although I don't use video and/or photo editing tools and/or Apple Pencel, this iPad Pro does have some neat accessibility features, like recognizing text within images and even videos like you mentioned. P.S. If someone knows how to use Stage Manager with the VoiceOver screen reader, I would really appreciate it! It would be nice to have a website open with coding instructions and my SSH client open at the same time, or to have song lyrics open while at the same time using GarageBand to record music. Switching between apps takes longer, and I often have to restart the recording because of how long it takes to switch apps.

The cut out feature isn’t working for me. It just tries to save the picture
Multitasking is so clunky on the iPad. It just doesn’t feel right. With Windows it’s very fluid. With iPad, it’s like being in an elevator with too many people and feeling claustrophobic and awkward trying to find your space. This is why I would not get a 16 gb variant. The OS, the apps, and the UI is just not suitable for heavy lifting tasks. I use it mainly for drawing and music production. I don’t use a lot of layers and don’t use sample heavy instruments. So 8 gb ram and 512 gb storage will be more than enough and financially that’s the best value for money. Anything above that, you are paying an arm and a leg…ridiculous increase in price and no performance gain in real life scenario.

I think people that talk about the new features for *M1* iPad Pro’s should make it clear there for M1 only. People still want to by the refurbished ones and they need to know the full story before they do.

I might be being completely sucked in, but at the moment I love Apple. They create the feeling that they care about their consumers. I’m still hurt over the loss of the inbox charger but at the moment I love the way they appear to care about normal things their consumers care about ie privacy and protection of children
Dude I spent $1000 on a spec’d out 2020 iPad Pro because I saw no power difference between the M1 and Achip, and they screwed me over with the iPadOS update. My iPad is damn near just as powerful as a base model M1 11 inch and they still decided to tell me to kick rocks. They chose not to support my device because they are money hungry, and it sucks.
May I know what is the desktop I see beside the Mac Studio?

It should work with iPadOS 16 when it comes out but some features (like stage manager) only work on m1 iPads.
In stage manager can you actually fill the screen on your external display with your windows or is there always that huge border?

How is your mx master 3 with iPad? I am having trouble with assistive touch enabled and enjoying my experience with it enabled. That’s how the key mapping works but it’s just not worth it. I kinda want an external Magic Trackpad…more $$$ ugh!!!

Yeah here's hoping they can make it work, but it definitely seems rather unoptimized right now and I can believe they need the full M1 to make it work.

Just got the m1 air base model , and got to know stage manger is not available for that device , such a shame on apple , they take all our money and make us fell leftout !
How did you get that beta? I tried it but I didn’t work,
Since I found out you can maximise windows in 1.6 without disabling the dock, I’ve kept Stage Manager on all the time. The only bug that really irritated me about 1.6 B1 was that it totally seemed to gimp two-finger scrolling on my Magic Keyboard trackpad and on my Surface Arc Mose. But Apple quickly brought out another beta that fixed the issue.

Stage Manager and external monitor support are only coming to iPads with the M1 Apple silicone (unfortunately). So, the iPad Air 4th generation will not be capable of supporting these features.
I wonder how VMware would work with iPadOS… can you run it with external monitor?
The Targus case for the iPad Pro M1 12.9 coupled with a Logitech MX mini keys keyboard and Logitech MX Anywhere mouse is a far better set up than using the Magic Keyboard which is inherently unstable unless on a flat desk surface.

I need an iPad for my hobby art creation. But I would rather get a M1 Mac Mini for macOS. I only need the power of a entry iPad with Apple Pencil support for my hobby art needs. But I could consider only getting an iPad with an M2 or M3 in the future instead of a Mac Mini.

Around the 5 minute mark, you’re showing the undo send in IMessage. Why? That is not IPad specific at all, it’s the same way on the iPhone.

Can’t wait for the public release of this. Also you gotta give the ESR Rebound Magnetic Keyboard Case for the 12.9” iPad Pro a whirl. Been using the Magic Keyboard right up until I got this and I actually like it a bit better. It’s Bluetooth, but has functions & features that the Magic Keyboard doesn’t have…
I’m running the beta, and it seems pretty benign. No crashes or freezes yet.

@@ThomasEJohnson Well, mine has been on since lunchtime (12:00) battery is now 55% and it’s now 16:51 (4:51 pm), so 10 hours looks reasonable for light use (MS Office and CZcams).

Its the Ultrafine 32 inch OLED but I absolutely hate it and would not recommend it. Not sure its the LG's fault or my Mac studios fault but its a frustrating monitor to use.

what is the most annoying is that apple limits stage manager to m1 ipads only, so if you dont have the latest and greated you cant use it apprantly, like my ipad pro from 2020 is not even that old and not slow either why is apple doing this
I hope they are able to expand the selection of iPads that’ll work with. I will say in using it now it seems unoptimized and kind of chugs along.

I'm glad these features are coming. What irritates me is that because Apple takes so long to implement such basic features, customers are brainwashed into thinking these features are somehow revolutionary. They're not. They're BASIC. Apple just invests more time into marketing than they do into actual features.

iPad really needs the health app. Women tracking their cycles, medication times and doses , tracking weight from the bathroom scales… These are all things that you need to be able to do on the device that is at home. This is a place where we could put our Covid vaccines and keeping track of all the stuff in the family. The health app also belongs on the iPad even more than the calculator.
Facebook dark mode when?
The child account stuff is not new. Apple *recently* fixed the purchasing restrictions when it came to kids. Less than a year ago, there was no restrictions if the child was 13 or older. In fact there are still issues with controlling their access to spending. TVOS 15 supports multiple accounts, just hold the TV button on the Apple TV remote, and you will see the control panel come up. Apple is ahead of Google in child accounts, but there is more they can do. Like AirTag sharing.

It‘s a pain to see that Apple is separating the iPad world more and more into two different parts. The ‚Pro‘ part that can use all the nice features and the basic part of customers that can only use basic functionality and watch the pro customers having fun!
Also it is a shame how Apple is going to get celebrated for features that others already have for years like e.g. Samsung Dex.

I'm an Apple fanboy through and through but I keep getting frustrated with the fact that Apple rolls out features to iPadOS like Stage Manager vs simply building a version of MacOS that can run on the iPad. I know that's the long term direction, but get there already!! Windows runs natively and just fine on a Surface tablet and all of these efforts to make iPadOS (basically a larger format phone OS) into a light version of MacOS is silly. Apple, you are a multi-trillion dollar company. Develop something!
