Gotta love that dash! No frills, just what you need to get the job done and nothing more. No neon-lit chrome plated diamond studded ball scratcher that's linked to a computer. And, if the ball scratcher's sensor is out of alignment, the truck won't start but to determine it, you need a 5000-dollar scanner to read the codes to order a new 900-dollar sensor. LOL! Sometimes simplicity is beautiful, all you need for that truck is some hand tools, a few air tools, a test light, and maybe a multimeter and you can fix 99.9% of it. It's one of your coolest videos to me, I haven't seen one of those on the road since I was a kid in the 70s. and 80s. I'd also love to see you rescue or do a will-it start on an old F model Mack cabover. I remember them running a lot of roads back then too.

Hi from France ,i've just finished working a 12 hour day behind the wheel of a 3 year old european truck, automatic gearbox, power steering, electric windows etc (you got the picture) and i'm exhausted, man those blokes back in the old days were really some-thing,i'd imagine their days were longer, probably froze to death in winter and just roasted in summer,no power steering, double clutch (easier changing gears without it),the tyres (tires) weren't the best back then,man...respect...

I started out in a white in 1976 for 2 years then went to a mack superliner in 1979 then a Pete cab over till I got a 359 Pete then a Kw cab over till I retired from trucking in 1996 due to health issues. I still love trucks and miss driving.

I know this sounds weird, but imagine Chip Foose having a hand in working on restoring some of your trucks. Why I say that is an interview he says that Overhaulin' was suppose to be about repairing everything from appliances vehicles (trucks) and boats but because of the nature of TV and production they had to have a marketable hook for the audience so it was cars as that was Fosses' main area of expertise. SHOCK SUBSIDES. So any way imagine you two getting together to pull that White Cabover and restoring it or customizing it to run again. Just sayin.

O-H-I-O Porters here.🇺🇸 They called that the Japanese Cabover or something like that, model 7000? I remember my dad looking at one out in the country when I was a boy. It had a Cummins. The guy had purchased a new rig & was selling it. My dad & brother looked it over & decided that it wasn’t the truck they wanted. I was hoping he would change his mind. I always liked the look of that cabover. I had only seen a few of them though. You sure found one that had been wired up in a weird manner & also had a shorted starter & such. 🧐 Nothing like crawling under one to trace the wires. Hey, isn’t this still snake season? Those jumper boxes are rather cool, but I think having some batteries is still the way to go. Don’t those boxes require a battery for some reason? But it would be nice to just roll a cart of batteries up, jump a wire or two & then be able to fire the engine up! 😳 Is it ever that easy? I worked on my cabover for some time before I found the culprit wire. It happens. Sorry that you have to make another trip out with a starter & heavy equipment to install tires & such. This has been a …Will It Start Take 1..fail. 😔 But you’ll be better prepared next time. So did you already buy this truck? You did say truck # 10. WOW! I’m quite behind the times, but it’s not really a competition now is it. My neighbors would be quite annoyed if I got more trucks on my property. Wait, they already ARE, but I really don’t give a sneeze! I already have 2 more coming. That’s our secret. Well, at least you had some helpers & makes a big difference!🤩 This will be one nice truck to save. Are you trying to be the TRUCK KING 👑 of your area? Nothing wrong with that. 😎 I’m always eager to see what you’re doing. Take care. 🥰😎✌️

You never know what to expect when working on these old trucks…wiring, parts, etc. I guess this one had a bad starter as well. Hope that you have plenty of decent tires & wheels so you can maybe even drive this one home. It’s good that you have a buddy with a wrecker. I have a buddy with a gooseneck trailer. I bet the tire shop loves you, since you buy quite a few tires, new & used. 🥰 I appreciate what you do! I’m glad you saved the Ford. I bought my brother’s CL9000 & hope to get it home soon. Looking forward to the next episode. Could be 12/24 system could also be positive ground. On top post batteries The negative is slightly smaller so you can look at the terminal end on the cables and determine which is which. there are designated + - ends but usually who ever installed the ends put universal ends on so the negative end will have the bolt tightened all the way down and the ends of the clamp will be touching . No room to put a screw driver in between the ends to pry them apart. You might be able to determine if it's a positive ground that way. If the cable with the terminal that is tightened down all the way goes to the starter it's positive ground. Large end with space between the ends to ground for positive ground.

Cool KW battery box. Very proud of your efforts. My first over the road tractor was this model 7400. Smokin Chokin 250 cummins. These Whites were better than Fords,Chevys,GMC's,Dodges,Freightliner. She had the big 22 inch Sheller steering wheel. The 250 was light-years better than the 238's we had.

Another great video from you all . I wish that the truck had started, but you weren't able to get the stater to even turn and that's the way that it is sometimes . I don't understand why that people don't mark each individual wire . I am an electrician ( that's the main thing that I went to school for anyway ) but I do all kinds of construction work and run a lot of different kinds of heavy equipment also . But to get back to the wires, I carry red and white and green tape with me all the time that I use to mark wires, I have other colors also and I even have numbered tape , so I always mark wires when I am working on stuff, whether it's AC or DC . And then if someone comes along behind me or if I have to come back to work on something it makes it so much easier to see what is going on . I get a lot of comments from people about how neat that my electrical work is, I even have pictures of some of my work on display at a vocational school and they tell new students that this is how that everybody's work should look like . One of my biggest ( pet peeves ) that I have complaining about some people's work is that they cut their wires to short, sometimes it just is long enough to go from point A to point B or they may have allowed just enough to be a tad bit more than from point A to B, but they didn't allow enough for in the future to

ya I agree I try to use red wire for positive cables whenever possible.. on some of these old trucks I gotta assume there once was extra cable but had to sacrifice it for one reason or another.

There's one just like that sitting in the woods not far from me, sky blue and white in color, Cummins 250 or 290 I think. When I first discovered it on a sunny day in the winter a few years ago with snow on the ground, it blended right in. I had to get up quite close before I realized there was a truck sitting there! To my knowledge though it isn't for sale, too bad. It would be so nice if it could be restored.

Sorry, but I accidentally hit the send button before I was done . They didn't allow enough extra wire to cut the ends off and put new ends on or to allow in case that the wire connection gets corroded and you have to cut off, back a few inches of damaged wire to get good wire to make a new connection . I always allow about 10" to 12" of extra wire on the outside of a junction box and at least 8" on each wire inside of a junction box and if I have room to, allow more extra wire maybe another foot or so . I have seen people before that had the wires stretched so tight that there was not even a 1/4 inch of extra wire and that is crazy and then if something happens it makes it so much harder to fix . I am a big fan of using corrosion grease on (connections that should be) and especially on aluminum wires . And I use a lot of regular heat shrink and then marine heat shrink for wet and damp locations to help with corrosion . For numerous years ago with everything else that I do, I repaired car wash equipment and kitchen and laundry appliances and on several occasions worked on the wiring on big trucks and then also fixed trailer wiring hookups on them or wiring on the trailers .
I will see you all later and I am looking forward to seeing part 2 of this video seeing what happens with this truck.
Take care and stay safe out there working on the trucks .
    🤗👍❤️💫
