Somehow, I can never do a French knot unless I'm watching someone else do it. Thank you so much for this video!
Same here! Iâll easily do one watching this video and then Iâll pause it and try another one and I wonât be able to figure it out. Itâs so weird
Lol
same here! hahaha
A trick : you can watch movies at instaflixxer. Me and my gf have been using it for watching lots of of movies recently.
@Kevin Walker Yup, been using InstaFlixxer for since december myself :)
I want to cry Iâve been trying to do this for three weeks!! Thank you so much following your instructions I got it on the first try!
Oh, I'm so happy this helped!!!
Savannah Gresham I still donât get it

Could not figure out the French knot until I watched this video. Thank you!
So glad it helped!
I may have shed a few tears of frustration last night when I was trying to do French knots for the first time. Thank you so much for this helpful video, this really helped me!!
lmfaoooo That was me 5 seconds ago
yess, couldn't do them on my own!!
Same here except I threw the project across the room at the wall
Why is it so hard for me to do this. Am I the only one??
Edit: I wrote this comment few years back and reading it today makes me feel nostalgic. How I struggled to perfect this stitch for school purposes. Anyway, thank y'all so much for the likesđ
im about to pull my hair out trying to do it :(
Nope, you're not the only one one!! I hear lots of people say they struggle with French knots, and I don't even know how to do them (hence why I'm watching this video), I think if we just keep practicing, we'll figure it out.
It's definitely one that takes practice. When you take the needle back down, make it just next to the original hole and not back down in the same one. Holding the thread with your non-dominant hand is very important. Hold it tight, but not too much. It will get easier!
No, I'm also struggling. It's driving me mental
Kathrine Turner this one is the challenging one for me right now, too. Understanding how to do it is easy, I guess itâs trying to get the hands to work together holding the thread taunt. A couple of my knots look wonky lol.
When I first started learning french knots, it was extremely hard for me. Each knot would look completely different and would mess up the whole work. But now, with a lot of practice, I can make pretty decent knots. This is just for those who find French knots difficult :)
You cannot understand how grateful i am for this video.
I tried to do the French knot for hours last night and no matter how hard i tried and how many tutorials i watched i just couldn't do it until i found yours, just one watch and just like magic i succeeded.
Truly thank youâ€ïž
I was never able to do French knots before even after four years of embroidering, but now I have a line of six on my scrap fabric! Thank you!
I've just started embroidery for the first time a week ago and I've been watching your videos to learn how to do different stitches that are needed and I really like the videos you do. I find them very easy to learn from. You do a great job on teaching. So far ive learned to do a back stitch, straight stitch, leaf and now a french knotThanks.
Same
Thank you so much for posting this, I need reminding every-time as use french knots in frequently, this is my go-to tutorial.

putting it through the same hole didn't work for me.... it can be right next to it, but not in the same hole. hopefully this helps some viewers.
Maybe a finer needle? I seem to recall that when I first did these (about 50 years ago!) I just pulled the knot through the hole, and, of course, it was because the hole was bigger than the knot because my needle was too thick.
Very good tip indeed!
dont forget also ****french knot = 2 strands
@@NationOfZealots84 wait so you only need 2 strands for this
@@CherryBlossomBlyue depends on Aida/hole type, some FK require 3 strands
I tried multiple times and couldn't get it to work, correctly. It formed the knot, but when I put it through the same hole, it came all the way through. So, I think it needs to be next to that hole, not actually through it. This was my first project, so I wasn't too worried about getting it correct (especially as I altered it a lot already lol). I definitely got the technique down, so thanks!!
Valerie S I think she said
Anywhere near the same hole
This is true, from what I have read you want it next to the original hole, not through it, even if "next" to it is only one fiber length. I can see the same hole working with thick floss, but not anything fine.
Now I figured why my french are horrible. Because i dont put it in the same hole... I just realised it after read your comment. Thank you a lot. Hahaha đ)
@@khalishahahmad602 even if i put it in the same hole it still wont work the twisty thing that i did always gets undone....................................
Thank you for your easy to follow directions! The video helped so much. French Knotts have always given me such grief, not anymore. đ
Genuinely thank you so much for this video! Iâm new to embroidery and after watching a different tutorial a few weeks ago and not grasping the technique, Iâve put off finishing my project for weeks! You video has made the technique super clear and I can successfully do the stitch! Thank you!! đ
I've never been able to do a French knot before (even after watching videos). Something about your video was perfect because I did it first try!! and now I've done quite a few, Thank you!! đđ
I struggled for so long with my french knots. They were going right through and leaving me frustrated. Thank you!
Love this video, straight to the tutorial, no unnecessary talking
Your videos are the first ones I go to, as Iâm learning to embroider during the Corona pandemic. You make even the difficult stitches seem easy. Thank you so much for these tutorials.
Oh my god this video saved my sanity. I was trying to do some French knots from memory and almost lost my mind after the thread pulled all the way through without creating a knot for the 20th time
Finally I got it, after watching your video.. thank you
YAY! I just did my first EVER french knot! I printed off the template that goes with this and I am working on it. I love it!
My French knot is always so big. I'm glad I found your videos
I have tried for literally years to conquer French knots and after watching you do it ONCE, I did it! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!
I finally got it after watching your video! thank you!
Thank you!!!! Tried this super easy stitch soooo many times and couldnât figure what I was doing wrong. Short sweet and to the point!!!! â€
Thanks for the video! I was stumped by french knots until you explained them!
Hands down, the best instruction on how to do the French knot. I used to pull it through the fabric all the time. This video helped a lot. Thank you.
I have been trying to do a French knot since 2003. Thanks to your video I made one, then two, then five. Thank you so very much
The way the needle goes in the knot is satisfying
I love these videos! short, simple, clear, and to the point. For a beginner like me, I need this! Thank you!
I used to do French Knots as a child, but haven't done them in years (about 40) so this video is great! Thanks for making it!
Thank you! With your instructions, I just made a successful french knot for the first time, and second time, and third time. :) So happy to have this skill finally! Thank you.

I have tried for, honestly, years to do a french knot. Iâve created huge meter long pieces of cross stitch and still never been able to but I thought Iâd give it one more go and after seeing your video I finally did!!! I screamed once it worked! Thank you so much for posting this, I feel like thereâs no stopping my work now xx
Haha! YES!! That makes me SO happy to read!!!
Omg! I could not figure out the written instructions that came with my kit until watching this. Lifesaver!
THANK YOU FOR THIS!! Books did not describe it the same way and I couldnât get one made. First time watching your tutorial and I nailed!! Off to find your channel and more tutorials now! â„ïž
I remember from childhood attempts at a stitch sampler that french knots were the very devil. I remember them knotting in the wrong place and hanging off my cloth. In retrospect, I think my mother didn't know how to do them either when she taught me, because this video made french knots clear and simple. They behaved themselves first try. Thank you
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, TAHNK YOU!!!!!!!! This is the first time I actually did a french knot. I have read how to do it and watched others show you how to do it, and I have had people try and show me. Never until this morning at work (graveyard shift benefits lol) was I successful. So THANK YOU very much for this video.
THANK YOU!! I have spent the last 6 hours watching countless tutorials and I was getting SO frustrated! The game changer was when you said to turn your work after you put the needle in!! Before that I was putting it straight in and the know was unraveling right on my needle. I could cry, Iâm so happy đ€
This brings back so many memories from the 60's. It's made me want to Embroider again. Thank you x
I have literally never been able to do a French knot before watching this video. Thank you so much!!
This was so helpful!! Itâs my first time doing embroidery and Iâm making dandelions for my moms birthday!!
Hooray! This is the absolute first time I was successful at making a french knot! Thank you so much!!!!
I am terrible at these, thanks for showing it. finding this tutorial is super timely! I need to do these as "flowers" on a tiny piece of felting I am working on.
I am very proud to say that I have successfully done French knots first time đ©đ©
i mean this in the most melodramatic but somehow still truthful way possible, but this video saved my life. i finally finished three (3) cross stitch projects iâve put off for years (one a full decade!!) because of french knots. đ you are a blessing
Haha! Oh man, that has to feel so good to get those done! So glad I could help. :)
This one is actually really fun! Thank you!
This was the best demo for the French knot... Thank you... Just got back into embroidery after a few years...and French knot caused grief... đ
I love how you got straight to it!! Thanks so much! You saved my project!
THANK YOU!! I had a tutuorial up for different stitches, but they didn't have a step by step explanation on it. Now I can make perfect french knots with no loose bits!
Oh my gosh! French knot is actually pretty easy! Love this video! So useful!
Thank you! My mom told me to look this up. She remembered it from her girl scout times
Took me a few mess-ups/do overs but I finally got it!! Thank you so much for all your videos! đđâ€ïžâ€ïž
I never knew how to do one until this, but I apparently end all of my sititches in a similar way so it was easy to get a hang of. Thanks for the awesome tutorial!!
Thank you for finally making me understand the structure of the french knot!
I haven't cross stitched in about 7 or 8 years and this was the perfect refresher on French knots! Thank you
This is nothing like the instruction sheet I have shows, but infinitely more understandable and easier. Thank you.
First time Iâve done french knots correctly †thank you!
Thank you! I'm new to cross stitching and didn't know what a French Knot was.
Thank you for getting straight to the tutorial!!!
Thanks so much for your videos. I watched at least 15 times before I was successful in making a French knot. Youâre right this takes lots of practice! đđđœđ
Thank you! I finally learned how to do them thanks to you.
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH. I had an âillustrationâ of this stitch and could not for the life of me understand. Thank you for such simple and clear directions and for your tips!
This video is the only reason I can FINALLY do this stitch. Thank you.
Thank you. I have finally been able to learn how to do this.
i just started my embroidery journey and ive learned all knots and stitches from you! these videos are so easy to follow and my stitching looks SO SKILLED (even though im a beginner :P) thanks so much!!
OHHHHHHH. THAT MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE THANK YOU SO MUCH IVE BEEN TRYING TO GET IT FOR LIKE 2 DAYS AND I KEPT MESSING IT UP TYS
Thank you!!!! The written instructions in my embroidery knit made no sense. I watched this and immediately got it! đ
Thanks so much for this!! I donât know what I was doing wrong before but after this simple and clear instruction Iâm making beautiful French knots now!
Very helpful, I couldn't do French notes before, now I can!
Happy to help!
What's weird is I always remember 90% of how to do it but that remaining 10% of technique is the only thing that matters it seems lol! Mine looked terrible until I used this as a refresher! Thank you for having this video. I've referenced it before - years ago - and I'll likely reference it again in a few years time when I inevitably forget again!
I forget myself... and then have to watch my own videos. Haha!
of course I'm learning stitches on an actual project and not on practice fabric!! But each of my french knots are looking a little better than the one before. Thank you for the tutorial :)
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have finally achieved my first French Knot đđ
Now I want a sample piece with all the different stitches. Thank you for the clear and direct instructions.
I have a free pattern download for this sampler here: bit.ly/2TS3Mio I also have a kit: bit.ly/3j8OgrO
Cutesy Crafts thank you đ
Cutesy Crafts bummer. You donât ship to Canada. I guess Iâll have to do the download version.
@@Stephm647 Oh, sorry, I do in my Etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/shop/CutesyCraftsBoutique. I built the other shop site myself and couldn't figure out how to program international shipping. :D
It can appear so intrusive on some projects but add the perfect touch of detail to others - such a love hate relationship!
Your tutorials are so helpful! Thank you for posting! âš
Thank you so much I'm a textiles student and could never figure out how to do a French knot even when my teacher was showing me but now I can do it thanks to you!
This video helped a ton, thank you! I've been trying to learn from a book and I wasn't doing these correctly but couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I really appreciate the video!
Best French knit example Iâve seen. Thank you for making this videođ From Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada đ đšđŠ
I struggled so hard and watched your video and got it perfectly thank you so much
this is the first tutorial that worked tysm đđ
Thank you!! Just like everyone else I found this frustrating and couldnât do it no matter what I tried. I really appreciate you being super descriptive! I started getting it after this video :)
I have been struggling with it for so long... Thank you so much!
OMG I am so relieved to see I am not the only one struggling with this! I turned the playback speed down to half & finally after several times I'm getting it! WHEW!!! I'm gonna have to practice this one a LOT!!!
Thank you so much for the tutorial! It was really helpful for me, as an embroidery beginnerâš
Mine just keeps coming undone when I put the needle back down a hole near the og
Same :(
I have done this and then by the next time have completely lost the method. I think - no I know - that I cannot follow diagrams and written instruction and so thank goodness for you tube and the person who kindly posted this demonstration . It becomes so much clearer when I can watch and listen. Forever grateful !
Thank you soo much for this simple tip đ„șđ«
I have just recently gotten interested in embroidery and got a lovely kit from the dollar store to try it out. It's pretty decent, except the instructions for each stitch kinda suck, so I'm incredibly thankful that you made tutorial videos on them. Definitely makes my life a thousand times easier because I'm not trying to understand really crappy instructions. So far, I have learnt the stem stitch, the leaf stitch, and now the french knot all from your super simple yet informative videos. Thank you so much!!
Thank you! Before my knots always ended up messy and wierd because I wasn't applying any tension but now they look good!
It was very hard for me before. But now I figured it is easy đ
I have never been able to make french knots so nicely!Love your video!! Thanks a lotđčđ
Best explanation I found online, very clear, and the specific way you put your needle and thread makes it very easy for left-handed me to mirror it.
thanks. This helped me with my project!
Thank you! I got it after the second view. Lovely explanation, and I appreciated that you did it a few times consecutively. Looks amazing on my work-in-progress already!
they look like adorable little flowers :D
also thank you this finally makes sense lol
I am to follow your instruction techniques for the French knots. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!
Thank you so much!! I have been trying to do the french knot for the longest time and so far only your tutorial has helped! Thank you so much for talking through it!
Oh my gosh! This is the first time I've ever been able to get it right! I had to watch you at half speed (so it sounded like you'd had too much wine) but I did it! I actually did it!!
Hahaha! Oh no! I'm going to have to play it back like that now!
Really helpful. I was totally lost with my written instructions!
