The 1st seems to be the easiest to repeat dozens of times required for a large embroidery project.
The 2nd seems overly complicated. It looks nice, but enough to make it worth the effort?
The 3rd looks like it would be time consuming. This would be acceptable if the end result didn't look so similar to the first one that was much quicker to make.
The 4th is very nice looking and easily repeatable. This would be my favorite.
The 5th seems like it has a loose bit that could easily catch on things if the embroidery were on a garment. I'd probably avoid this one.

I got to the 2nd method, tried it, and FINALLY can do French knots. Every single time I tried the original way, all the thread/floss would go through. Thank you so much! I'll now check out the other methods :-)

I feel like method two is for when I have more experience doing that. I didn't know there were two ways to do it but it makes sense. I am a beginner to embroidery, although I did a few cross stitch projects years ago. I just have so much trouble with this French knot! It looks easy, but I turn into fumble-fingers every time I try one. I think one reason is because I'm left-handed, so I have to turn what a right-handed person is doing the opposite way in my mind. I usually don't have too much of a problem with that since I'm used to doing it, but this one has just given me fits! Thanks for demonstrating different ways to do this stitch. I will keep trying!
