I was trying to shop around for the last few days for a SIM card and like you said every company I've called they said my I IMEI number is not able to be found as operable for their sim cards. So I have a question. Can this work with a lot of different radios? And if so, can you give me a list of radios that this could work for? Am I going to need an adapter wire for the SIM card? My service is Xfinity mobile so do you if it’s possible to do that with Xfinity mobile?
@@codywhite3582 yes it will. But with WiFi you will not be able to do CarPlay while being connected to the internet because wireless CarPlay use the WiFi connection.
Big guy..i have the 15.6 xl but it disconnects from wifi if my Bluetooth and Hotspot is on at the same time. Will the problem be solved if i use my gmc wifi instead.i can dubscribe to it .I see youre saying its not a problem with a sim-card..
@@marvsands2889 your phone can not do both hotspot and CarPlay/Android Auto. The radios WiFi chip is works for CarPlay/Android Auto or to connect to the internet. It can not do both. So even if you use the GM WiFi the radio can not handle both connections at the same time. Adding the SIM card lets the CarPlay/Android Auyo control the WiFi chip while the SIM Card handles the internet connection
@@LinksWellInc is the cable located in my glove box coming from the linkswell is where I'm installing the sim-card bcuz the tip looks a bit different from what you were holding unless something else is included in the box. It looks like the normal USB cable
@@marvsands2889 I can’t say where they installed the SIM Card holder. If it looks like a USB it’s a USB. You may need to remove the radio and get access to the rear of the radio to find it if they didn’t run it out somewhere.
I have a 2017 Silverado. just purchased the Linkswell T-Style XL Radio and I plan on running XM/Sirius through an app. Which is a better solution for getting streaming services to the radio? Using the Wi-Fi that comes with the vehicle - or using an ATT sim card? I KNOW the issues with the ATT sim card, but I'm really more wondering about any other compatibility/connectivity issues. TIA.

(2) if I try it out using factory Wi-Fi and find that it's not strong/fast enough, how much of a pain is it to put the (ATT) SIM card in after the T-Style XL Radio has already been installed? I'm guessing I'd have to pull the unit out and follow the steps in the video above . . . plus whatever work-arounds you have for the ATT card. Thanks for handling all of these questions. @@robertmccausland5739 so WiFi will work fine to stream. Every model radio we made prior to the Gen 6 and XL was WiFi only and the hotspot or in truck WiFi works just fine. If you wanted to add the SIM Card after. Yes you need to remove it and follow the video.
keep checking website to get the chat with tech support about getting info to get a Verizon sim but it only ever shows me email us. Not sure if tech support is not available online due to the holiday week.
Can I add this sim card to any recent Android radio? I want a radio for my w211 e class but lte radios only available from China. Want to get what appears to be the same radio from Amazon buy they don't advertise lte connectivity, but I can potentially get a wiring harness that has the sim adapter. Just dunno if the pinout will be compatible
I couldn’t say. It requires hardware to be installed to the radio so if the company that manufactured it used the hardware then possibly. You would have your ask them.
@LinksWellInc trouble is the sellers don't have any clue.. some pictures of the radio I see a lte connection but they say it doesn't have it. Could be just stock images or they just not totally informed. I ordered the radio from Amazon anyway. If I can't get it to work I'll return it and order from China. Thanks for the swift response. What I need is the ability to purchase a SIM card that will work on my Verizon post pay plan. The IMEI on the radio of course states that it is invalid in Verizon system. I have messaged the linkswell contact email several times and not even gotten a response. I need to know what I need to do to get a SIM card that will work with my Verizon service. So our contact email is only for dealers looking to talk becoming a dealer. So that email if you sent anything tech support it will not get to techs. In the website in the lower right corner is a pop up Chat icon. Use that during business hours and it goes straight to the tech team.

@@marvsands2889 so CarPlay takes over the WiFi so if you pair to CarPlay then yes when Bluetooth Pairs the phone then goes into CarPlay connection so it disconnects the WiFi from internet. You can not use hotspot and CarPlay at the same time. The SIM Card fixes that issue by adding a separate internet source allowing CarPlay to control the WiFi chip.
I reached out to 3 different Verizon locations and chat, they all said they could not move forward without an IMEI number even though I was adamant I didn’t have one. Any help?

Update I canceled the line for SIM card I got from att for my stereo well little to know I took my iPhone SIM card from one that been sitting for years being active and it worked on my radio att SIM cards works for the stereo no problem
So you are lucky. The AT&T cards usually do not work that easily. Trust us we have gone through tons of various settings trying to work it out. We have made AT&T cards work. But you are the first to report it working without a bunch of extra steps.
@@adamfoster8131 the radio isn’t equipped with an eSIM. So there is no eSIM to use. You could try using an IMEI from an eSIM your have to get a physical sim programmed and install that to the radio though.
So it’s just the way AT&T network works. It’s going to be a pain. We have a few processes that you can try to get it to work. If you email the tech’s using the chat icon in the website. They can get you the little tech sheets we have if you want to try.
Installed a t-mobile sim, had bars for about 10 mins. Next time i started the car, no bars. Radio sees the SIM installed. T-mobile says the radio isnt "unlocked" to accept the SIM. Tried factory reset, reseated all cables, still a no-go.
So T-Mobile has different data codes. One of our engineers/techs is working with them trying to figure out what is causing it to work then stop. It’s unlocked. We have radios working with T-Mobile no problem. The providers have a sorts of different data codes. It’s best if you jump onto our website and use the chat option and ask for the codes for T-Mobile.
@LinksWellInc just an update on this fiasco. The SOC doesn't make a difference in the sim working or not. Plan was changed to one of the specific SOCs gotten from linkswell and still same issue. Worked with a specific guru from linkswell for weeks on this. We even got on a 3 way call with t-mobile tech support and they were ZERO help. This morning i called the sales team at t-mobile and they were a lot more help and at least knew what SOC I was using, which led to knowing that changing the SOC doesn't fix the issue. I also set the access point name info to match t-mobile and still no bars. The unit does see the SIM, if I pull the sim out, put it in another device, then put it back in the unit, it will work for one car ride, then when I go to drive again another day, no bars. Still sees the sim, just no internet. Talking to the sales rep and her team this morning, they think it is one of 2 things, either the SIM itself is faulty (unlikely) or maybe the jeeps computer system itself is over writing the sim. I am still at the drawing board and still googling and youtube searching for fixes and workarounds. Just an update on the hot mess.
@@kelseylantzy sorry. Version works no problem. And we have customers using their phones IMEI and getting new numbers through boost mobile and they work fine. We are not understanding why it’s becoming so difficult. We are trying to figure it out though.

So to stream SiriusXM the factory WiFi should be fine. The SIM Card would be faster over all though.

The dongle is part of our radio. It comes on it. It’s not something you add.

All our radio besides Gen 6 or XL are WiFi only.
So you go in the network settings and connect it to what ever WiFi source you have.

If you got a Gen 6 or XL there is a SIM card slot on the radio.
We haven’t found a USB SIM that has worked. So I do not think so.
