The lanai or screened-in porch on the balcony is common with homes in the USA. The main purpose is to keep insects away from the porch/deck area at night. We leisure on the decks and the netting prevents mosquitoes, june bugs, lady bugs, stink bugs, etc., from flying and making a miserable night. We usually dine on the decks and pests can be a nuisance. They also help restrain some of the rain.
I’m a country singer/songwriter and I sing in Leipers Fork at Fox and Locke every time I travel to sing in Nashville! It’s such a beautiful town and the people are so nice and welcoming which is the best part! The community truly is like a family there! So excited to see you loving a place that is so close to our hearts!
I go to school in Alabama and split my time with visits to Franklin because my boyfriend owns a pub/restaurant called Hop House TN Taps in the historic downtown where you visited. I am so proud of your description of our town. It’s amazing to see the places I live in through your eyes and I feel so lucky to live in both gorgeous states. I am from North Carolina too! As much as I am happy Josie had a fun time in TN, there are many other places around to really get the experience of the outdoors! That place looked a little too luxury for me. Very nice but not really true TN or south country living.

They are bred for shooting because they are easy to shoot , mainly in autumn, I get a lot in the garden. I think Josie does too? I feel sad for them really ❤
Common coarse flours in the USA - Grits (ground white corn), polenta (ground yellow corn), farina (ground soft wheat, called Cream of Wheat in USA), and semolina (ground durum hard wheat).

@@Patriot1789 polenta is made from corn meal which ground alot more fine to make a flour. Grits are not ground that fine.
Hi Josie and Charlie, I really love this video. Seeing you both really loving this part of my country is heartwarming. On my fathers side of my family I have generations of ancestors that settled in Tennessee ( originally from UK) really loved watching this video.

Oh wow! I have enjoyed this Tennessee visit through your eyes. My home is about 170 miles south of Franklin, a bit more from the frontier areas, and a bit many more miles from Nashville. During the warmer months of summer, all these places are buzzy and busier with people visiting from all over the world so this is a perfect time of late Autumn to enjoy a more leisurely visit. Tennessee is my favorite State of the US except for my beautiful Alabama, a neighboring State located farther south . I hope you and your Precious thoroughly enjoyed your time in the States. Grits is made out of dried corn, sort of like polenta, not semolina, not wheat based. Tell Charlie Trail mix (from last video) is not for birds but for human consumption, it is made up of nuts, seeds and dried fruit, something you eat on a hike to give you energy. Nice trip, enjoy the bourbon. And screens are for mosquitos not leaves.
26. minute. I was very surprised, when I moved to Highgate, that England has so little products on shelfs.. and almost basic products in other countries are such a rare luxury in England... France, Poland and USA and heaven for shopping. Groceries, pharmacies, drugstores...... I do my shoping only when traveling
You and Charlie’s British terms are so endearing for this southerner🤗…Calling our towns “villages”❤Little things you say make me wish we used the same terms over here…I’m from Georgia and all of my childhood trips to Tennessee were in rustic cabins nestled in the Smokey Mountains. Magical! Not fancy, but wholesome fun, breathtaking views and breakfast at Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg. The way to go if you ever come back. Where y’all stayed in Franklin, while very lovely, seemed very California/west coast inspired😎. I hope the south was so very good and hospitable to you both! Absolutely love seeing Tennessee through both of your eyes - what an absolute treat. Also, I'm with Charlie on the non-alcoholic cocktail inclusivity! As someone who does not drink alcohol, I am always so impressed when a place offers something other than coffee, tea, or soft drinks for those of us who don't imbibe. I feel seen, respected, and as though folks realize that there are plenty of mixology options for mature palates out there that needn't include alcohol. I love that more people are championing this, and by you both shouting this out, I hope it encourages more establishments to get on board! Thanks so much, as always!

Many people don't like TVs in homes/high end hotels to be visible. Many people have TVs that hide behind art work that regress into a cabinet, or a full frame TV in art mode to show beautiful works of art when not in use. Also, traveled in almost all states over many years and never been to a hotel room in the USA that did not have a coffee machine, cups, sundries, etc.
Loved the addition of bagpipes to the band. I bet Charlie hears from "Crispy", when you get back. 🤭

Seeing the Cotswolds always reminds me of it in a way. So glad you enjoyed your time there. Love your Jeans and boots combo, very TN! I live in Portland, Oregon now so it was a nice reminder of how much I miss the country life. You probably don't need any more jeans but if you ever pick up another pair, I recommend Hudson Centerfold Jeans, I got into them when I was living in LA, they are my new go to. Have a blessed day!

I would highly recommend going to Door County Wisconsin. A gorgeous area surrounded by the Great Lakes. And multiple small lakes.
Or heading to the Oregon coast. I've been to Garibaldi, Oregon and used that as a jumping point to go exploring. To have the mountains and the Pacific Coast side by side is breathtaking!
There is also a diamond of a town in Illinois called Galena, Illinois ! Beautiful rolling landscapes and when you get into the local town it's an old world feel. It's very close to the Mississippi River.
Or there is my hometown of Woodstock,IL which would make for a fun day trip from Chicago. The Square in Woodstock is one of the top most charming squares in America.
I love Lexington ,KY it's prime horse country and the landscape is beautiful.

The scenic drives are incredible in Summer and Fall. So happy you and Charlie enjoyed your visit. The Piano Guys are so talented and their musical interpretations are so unique and lovely. Looking for a streamlined list of proven-effective products/treatments for skin regeneration. You might be pleasantly surprised at how many of us older ladies love your channel for your traditional value, excellent taste, and your and Charlie's delightful personalities.

Grits are made from ground corn, typically from less sweet, starchy varieties often referred to as dent corn. Grits can be made from either yellow or white corn and are often labeled accordingly.
