Thanks for making this video, short, simple and concise. Other videos take 20 minutes to explain this and it drives me nuts
Haha, same!! There’s no need to drag on and on. Thanks for your sweet comment!
@@tenneyplants your welcome! and thanks again
God damn right
😄😄😄
😂🤣 Grace! I thought that I was the only one that felt that way! As the person is chattering. I usually yell, “Just show it!”
Thank you for not turning this into a 30 minute video as many others did!
Thank you for this video! I didn’t know what to do with the extra stalk between growth nodes so it was a relief to see you cut & keep only the right bits. Good video, thank you
2:30 great! I need to trim my pothos but I was worried it wouldn’t keep growing after it’s cut. This was exactly what I was looking for.
So glad it was helpful! 💛
I watched your video after realising I was doing it all wrong. All the cuttings have now rooted so will plant them soon, thank you so much ❤
My mom would just clip the plant and stuck it in water. Most of the time it grew but your method is more precise
Greetings from Los Angeles
Thank you for this video! I am so scared to propagate my first pothos plant ever but it’s getting so long and this made me feel more confident!
If I were you I think I would use a jar with a larger opening to make removing the rooted stems easier without the chance of ripping them off. I drive my sister crazy at times taking old jars that at one time contained food and washing them really well to use just for this purpose. I have done this on several occasions and it does take patience but is well worth it to make beautiful, full and bushy pothos plants! Thank you so much for your short and concise video, well done!
TY! You are a life saver, because of this video I got the courage to finally cut my only pothos plant and I'm hoping to have new ones soon! ❤
Thanks for keeping it precise and informative. I love your soothing voice as well. I'm a new plant mum
Thankyou , I tried it today. This is my first plant💕
I was looking for a video on how to propagate Pothos into water and was really happy to find your video because most videos get so long & drawn out then eventually will show you how to do it. so I’m glad that you went straight into it , The visuals were very clear on what you were doing and your explanations were easy to understand ..
This is the most thorough straight forward easy to understand video I’ve come across, thank you!!
agreed
Thank you! I was looking for something quick. You explained it perfectly. Subscribed just for that!❤❤❤
This was super helpful! I took a couple of cuttings from my stepmom's pothos recently and I've been worried since its been a almost a week or so. Good to know that it can take them a bit longer to start growing roots especially in winter 👍
Thank you for the short & simple tutorial! Excited to propagate my first plant.
I hope it goes well! 🤞
This was very helpful and exactly what I needed. My issue was where exactly to cut (I originally cut off a leaf and tried to propagate that-I'm sure you can imagine how that turned out 😔) so I wanted exact instructions this time. Thank you! New subbie 😊
Thank you!! I’m glad it was helpful to you!
lmao same !!
I did the same thing! 😞
Same thing hhhh

Haha, we've all been there! So glad this helped!
Thanks for the video! I have a pothos that is very long, some branches about 5feet long. I'm happy it's been doing so well
That’s amazing!! Sounds like you’ve been doing a great job with it!
Great video, just what I was looking for. Thank you.

My wife and I separated recently and I was given one of her pothos and I was worried about ruining it trying to propagate it and now I feel much better lol
Hope you and the plant are both doing well 🖤

@@tenneyplants You are welcome as a newbie have you done any posts on people like myself who would love to have plants but get no sun at all?
I haven’t, but that’s a great idea for a future video!
Great video!! Thank you

now i know what i was doing wrong! very detailed and well explained. i’ll be subscribing :) thank you 💞
I'm glad it helped! And thank you so much for subscribing! Means the world :)
You do have to change out the water regularly or it will turn a yellowish color and your cutting will get mushy and die. I changed my water every 3-4 days
Thanks for sharing and you earned a new subscriber here :)
Thank you so much! Ur the best
Exactly what I needed
I tried this today. Thank you! Your video was really helpful 🌿
So glad to hear that!! And thank you!
Did it work for you?
Thanks for being short and straight to the point!
Thank you for showing us . I get some idea..
Thanks for sharing.
thank you so much for this!! the top of my pothos plant is suffering becuz of root rot (i accidentally overwatered her when i first got her ... oops) and all of her bottom leaves are growing beautifully
Awesome video and it fit my attention span🪴💜🪴💜🪴
Thank you!!
thanks for the concise and to the point explanation Tenney! great video!
Thankyou great ingormation
❤
Nice info and nicely explained dear friend
Thx for the help❤
Thanks for making this video! Love how short it is :) Just wondering-did you have trouble getting the cuttings out of the jar? It has a pretty small opening
Thank you! It definitely took some time to get it out of those jars, but after some wiggling they can free with no problem
Thank you for this video - so helpful and definitely subscribing. I'll be trying this with my pothos which is really long now but doesn't seem to have bits I can easily cut with a node and then a bit of stem each side without cutting a lot of the plant off?!
Crisp and clear presentation 👌 Subscribing.
Thank you!!
I got to propagate my friends pothos last night. It was fun and relaxing 😎
soo interesting and informative sharing thanks and welldone
Thank you!!
So easy to follow 😊
Thank you! 😊
Direct, informative, not pointless blah blah blah… THANK YOU!!
Thank you! I had the same frustrations so that’s why I made this!
super helpful!
Thank you!
Thank you for this video I been doing it wrong & now if off to propagate the right way!! 🤞🏾
Yay, hope it goes well!!
@@tenneyplants Thank you so much!!!
I have some as a gift from months ago an they are growing like crazy in my water propagation! Can I leave them in water? Like forever? I’m in love with it. The roots are literally probably 7 inches long at this point an they have multiple new leafs
That’s awesome!! Yeah you can leave them in there indefinitely! Just make sure to change the water regularly and use hydroponic fertilizer when needed. But they’ll do great growing in water!
@@tenneyplants thank you!!
Great video!
Thank you!
I love your voice. You sound like a Crystal Gem character from Steven Universe. It's my favorite show
Thanks!
Great video! Just wondering- Do you change out the water ever during this propagating process?
Yes, great question! If the water ever becomes cloudy, miscolored, or simply gets low, it’s a good idea to dump the old water and get some fresh water for it.
Subscribed!
Thank you 🙏
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Great video! I'm curious as to how you managed to get them back out of the jars once they rooted.
a lot of mine r on the windowsill of a north facing window and the east wall of a room with a large south facing window
also a tip ive done with mine is to NOT change the water pothos plants have a root hormone that they give off and helps it to grow roots the only time i’ve changed mine is if it has a suspicious mold not alge thats normal but like actual mold or if it starts to smell bad
if ur gonna move the water plants into soil make sure u fill a nursery pot with dirt and plant it then put it in a bowl and fill the bowl with water to help it settle and keep the water highly watered for a while
Thank you!!!
thank you!!!
Thank you for a great video! Tonight I did this to about 8 leaves from the Mother plant. This plant was recently transplanted (3-4 months ago) because it was root bound in its pot. The past two months it hasn't been looking too great. My Father removed some of the root system, and planted it in potting soil. So I'm not sure why suddenly it's not doing well. A shock to the plant perhaps? Maybe he gave it too much water when he transplanted it? So I'm hoping that these leaves take, and start rooting for me. This was my Mother's plant that she had for many years - I think it misses her, and her green thumb 😔
Oh I hope it takes root too! I'm sorry for your loss and think it's really sweet you take care of her plant to remember her by.
And I don't know how big the pot is that you and your dad repotted it in, but it's best to increase the pot size by a half inch or inch in diameter. Just so there's not a lot of empty wet soil with no roots in it to soak it up. :) I hope that helps!
@@tenneyplants Thank you for your quick reply! So maybe it didn't like losing some of it's roots and being placed back in the same size hanging basket (maybe 10" top dia.) with mostly soil. I'm thinking that maybe he took out half or more of it's roots. What might be the next best thing to do for the Mother plant?
Thank you again!
Hm, I would recommend trimming the mother plant back. Doing so will allow the smaller root system not be so overwhelmed trying to support so many leaves.
And you could propagate the trimmings too if you wanted to!
Thank you for this 😊 Such a helpful video. I just placed some trimmings from my pothos in a jar with water and started the process however the ends got really brown and wasn't growing any roots. Suggestions?
I’d try snipping off the brown ends (without taking off any nodes) and be diligent about changing the water. That should keep the ends from turning brown again. Hope that helps!
New subscriber!Love it!!
Thank you!!
@@tenneyplants I am going to recommend this page to my friends!!!This is the only channel that gets to the point quickly and you explain so good and I love how you get close ups of the plants!!!Thank u!
You’re an angel! Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing this video is it okay if I put three plants in one glass bottle or is that too many together. It's a seasoning bottle that I'm reusing.
I'm not sure where to place mine. I had a very long vine. Placed it in a clear glass bottle but the leaves started curling and no roots. Maybe it was too shaded? Help
subscribed on the first video :)
Thank you!!
I was wondering what you do when there is a big gap between the pothos leaves with vine only between them? Just cut the nodes or cut the vine and nodes down? Can you do that when there are no leaves yet?
so helpful, thank you so much, my biggest fear was the mother plant getting stuck growing where i cut
I loved it!! Just a quick question can they live forever in the water they look cute in that tiny bottle hehe
Thank you! I loved them in their little bottles too! And yes, pothos will actually do quite well in water for years. Just be sure to change their water regularly and give them hydroponic fertilizer every now and then so they can get the nutrients they need :)
It took my first batch about a month. When I transplanted them to soil I made the mistake of burying the stem up to where the leaf meets. As a result about half rotted.I pulled the remaining ones back up and replanted them with about half of the old stem out of the ground. I tried to bury the main root and leave one above ground so that I don't have to worry about them rotting.
Thank you. How often to change the water.
My neighbor is moving and she has this huge pathos like it doesn’t fit in my rooms table Bc it’s dangling so much and my guinea pigs see me enter and run. Away from the plant hahaha 😭😂so this video is perfect I will start trimming it down Bc lord knows it’s sooo long it reaches the floor
I put mine in old glass coke bottles! So cute
