I've been doing something very similar with cuttings from my mothers plant. I took it as a memento when she passed. It is over 25 years later and I have such beautiful plants that I gift to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A piece of mom seems to be living indefinitely.

    @HaikuAutomation Před 4 lety +15

Did exactly as he suggested. Take an existing plants vines/runners, and snub/cut each leaf/branch before and after. Put into the water, in stacks of 6-8. Make sure the water is changed every day as you remember, or install into a tank with a pump/aerator. Put on kitchen counter, warm air. Do not put on sill that is 60 degs or less. Indirect light is fine, temps is critical. Should see group of root growth in 2-3 weeks. Key is temp, water replaced every 2-3 days or more. Put into a 4 or 5" planter. Fining plants look great in 4", so put 12-15 cuttings. 5" planter gets nearly 20 cuttings. Plant/pot looks great, and thus the crown looks great! Only difference I did was I planted into dirt/soil, and forgot about 'hydroponics'. Never looked back, mine are rocking on right now.

Is it just me or whenever I try to find out something about plants i prefer some old person explaining these things to me rather than a young one? Maybe I'm biased but I think elderly ppl tend to know more :'D
    Edit:
Since english is not my first language, I should have reframed the statement a bit to give a clearer explanation.
This guy here reminds me of my old biology teacher, who showed my that plants are not 'mere' plants and that more people should enjoy gardening.
This is not an attack against younger people - they just often have long introductions in their videos which annoy me.
I'm not saying every old man on this world knows everthing about everthing - that certainly is not possible - but in my case, the older the teacher , the easier it is to grabmore advanced topics. They have a way of explaining, which I admire.
Stop getting angry at an internet comment, guys.

I tried something that worked beyond my expectations. I followed the lessons available here, then after cutting and bunching them I twist tied them to keep the bunch together. Before putting them in the water I put a fish tank bubbler in each container and run the bubbler for 15 minutes a couple of times a day. The new roots are very robust and survive and thrive very well.

Wow!!! Now I have got to be honest about this video. He was straight to the point! Just when I was about to fast forward on this video, I was mesmerized right from the beginning. I have seen many videos and none quite like this video.
I just recently find myself having to fast forward some videos that take too long to get to the point.
This is a game changer sir and you deserve the CZcams Award or something, hands down. You dropped the mic on this one 🎤🎤🎤🎤!!
    Great job!!!
Everything was on point! Shoot idk yawl, but is it me because I thought I smelled some chocolate or coffee beans when he put those brown things in the pot lol 😂 🤣😂🤣!!! I gotta go back and watch it again!!
Thank you and be blessed all.

I did this! to a point! I made all my cuttings just like you directed, I changed my water every 3 days or so, it took mine about a month and a half to have ALL of the leaves have at least a little roots, SOME have LONG roots (2 or 3 inches...long for in a cup)….anyway, I don't have a hydroponic set up and had planned on putting them in soil anyway. So, today, that's what I did. The cuttings have THRIVED really wall in the water! I hope the do AS well now in soil, I'm sure it's a big adjustment for them from getting their requirements straight from water like drinking from a straw for them, to extracting it and needed nutrients (which I bet there's LOTS more nutrients in the potting mix they're in now anyway) out of the soil they live in now.

I have a lot of questions, hope you can help me!
    1) its been about 4 weeks since i propagated my pothos but their roots are nowhere as long or as good as yours. Should i leave them in this position for a fortnight?
    2) Can we transplant our mature cuttings from water to soil?
    3) is it necessary to use clay pebbles in our water transplant? Or can we just put them in as is?
    4) in any sort of pot we put them in, shouldn't it have a hole in the bottom?
    5) after we have transplanted our pothos, can we then put them anywhere we like? Like in our rooms or just any other place except the one where we propagated them?
    6) when my pothos starts to grow vines and get bigger, should i buy a new bigger pot for it? Or should i keep trimming it and throwing away the leaves?
    Thanks for your time!

+EasyGroHydro Page. Good afternoon Sir, first off thank you so much for sharing this video. I never knew to cut Pothos cuttings that way, your plants are SO BEAUTIFUL and healthy. I had a Pothos plants for 9+ years and out of it I got five more plants from the mother plant. Unfortunately I lost all five of them plus two Spider p!ants and the mother Spider plant that I also had 9+ years to scale and last Winter's harsh weather. I did manage to save a few cuttings from the Pothos p!ant and one single cutting from the mother Pothos and would you believe its finally sprouted a root, I was SO happy and I'm SO hoping it sprouts new leaves, have a blessed day and new follower.😊
