    Good video. Please keep in mind if you have more than 100 square feet of mold to call a professional. I've been in the business for over 30 years and 1 square foot could be as bad as 100. Find the source and it all needs to be removed under environmental protocols. Negative pressure and containments. Thanks for the video brother. I've been watching you for a while and I think you are a good guy and you really tell your followers the truth and that's if you aren't a pro like in this situation. You have a lot of knowledge and you keep learning like we all did back in the day. I have a few years on you son....lol. Cheers my friend.

    So nice to not have to watch 20 minutes of video for this type of repair. Great advice about using a slightly thinner mix on the 2nd coat. Ill try that next time. You may want to point out the need to secure the existing drywall surrounding the patch. This keeps the existing drywall from flexing and possibly cracking at the new joint. I really enjoy your videos.

    We had a leak in our washer connection, so drywall needed replacing at base of walls. Fortunately, there was no mold, but that may be because of our very dry climate. We were able to do that patch fairly easily using this video.

    At the first sign of mold gut the room and re-hang with anti mold rock. Well worth it. In most houses in the northeast you will only need anti mold rock in basement s.

    The only thing that you should of done was treat the wood that the moldy drywall was on. The mold on the wood is going to come right back on the drywall. The wood could also still be wet. Should definitely dry it before putting new dry material on it.

    Nice video, question for you , I am doing the same on my bathroom replacing just 9” of drywall on the bottom because I am removing the tile baseboard so much easier do I need to crack fill or just put the new tile baseboard over the new drywall? I am going up a 1” so I won’t see the line.,

    I wished you could have explained further after the third coat. I’m doing this on my own. Do I sand , prime , and then paint? What number sand paper? Good video just don’t stop next time. I was totally following them you stopped. Lol

    • @FixThisHouse
      @FixThisHouse  Před rokem +4

      No worries! Sorry I stopped! I just made numerous drywall videos and I assumed so sorry. But you can definitely check out my drywall playlist. But yes after the third coat, sand using 120 grit should be sufficient to make it nice and even, then clean up the dust on the wall. I would then apply primer and then paint and that’s it. Up to you if you want to apply a second coat of paint, some paints do have primer mixed in them already.
      Thank you so much for watching! 🙏🏽😊

    The guest bath in the house I moved into has tiles falling off in the shower. I've re-glued them a couple of times. When I glue it on, the whole section of the wall kind of bends and makes the tiles not sturdy enough to stay in place for long, as well as the paper ripping off the wall sticking to the tile, leaving nothing good to re-glue the tiles to.. Would you guess that this is rotten drywall behind the tiles? If so, I think I could just remove enough tiles to cut out the old drywall and replace it with a new sheet. Is there anything special I need to apply to the wall behind the tiles? Waterproof seal tape? Scotch Guard? Any advice will be helpful.

    When screwing in the drywall ,when did you screw around the replacement piece ?

    • @grantcivyt
      @grantcivyt Před 5 měsíci +2

      I assume you're asking "why" he screwed the existing drywall and not just the new piece. It's because the existing drywall is floating where it was cut. If it isn't secured, it will move and separate from the new piece.

    You have a good bit of black mold in your walls. Any at all is too much. Once it’s black, it’s mature. Immature black mold is confused for dust most of the time. It’s close to invisible on the back side of drywall.

    • @AdelineCowgirl

      You need a professional if there's a lot of mold to make sure all of the mold is gone, and then you put the new drywall up yourself. Duh.
