- I bought this 97 Isuzu for the 4BD2 Turbo Diesle then realised I needed a engine for it so I got a junkyard 5.3l and swapped it now i just gota get it runnig

what transmission you running?? isuzu harness and ecu?
Chevy 700r trans (no computer) and LS with all stock Chevy ecu

I have to do this swap, because I can't find a head for my 3.9 diesel
@@Steve13211 99 to 06 chevy 1500 Passenger and Driver mount brackets. It's a plate that bolts the motormount and bolts to the frame with 2 long bolts each. I bolted them to the motor mounts and welded the plates to the frame once i had everything lined up added gussets for strength. I would get a turbo 400 trans. Great question and please sub
@@Steve13211 I bought a new head for mine made is USA from a machine shop in Washington. sent them the old head they installed valves etc. I installed and worked great. paid around 800 2 years ago. Years ago, the dealer wanted 1600 just for a head without valves etc.

@@JUNKYARDGTO california dose not allow diesel vehicles that are 2010 or older to get around that needs a newer diesel motor or just put in an older gas motor

I know right lol I still cant get it running because of the VATS or pass lock lol ive tried everything but trading computers and hp tunners ( Computer to turn off VATS )

The mounts are stock mounts from a Chevy truck frame I just welded it into the isuzu frame with gussets

Very sick! I know some of the later npr’s came factory with a 6.0, but to find one cheap is not common.
I am wondering if you got the gauge cluster hooked up and have a useable speedometer?
I took the diesle out and installed it into a Madza/Ranger. yes gages work I pulled the full wireing harness from a chevy 1500 with the fuse pannel and didn't cut any plugs. thx for the comment please subscribe
@@HandymanHustle yes because you don't need a CDL to drive it but it will haul a lot of weight. I would find one with a 6.0l ls motor or bigger and 4l80 transmission or Allison transmission. Thx for the comment and please subscribe
Took my Isuzu (4hk1) powertrain out of the truck and put it into my airstream motorhome. Thought about selling the clean California NPR body but may be better to sell it running? Could put the old 454 V8 into the NPR 🤔 Not sure… nice project!!
Lol thats awesome. The 454 might be to big. The ls small block barely fit and if your keeping it I would put a motor in it but if your getting rid of it I would just scrap it.
@@JUNKYARDGTO way to good to scrap. Rust free CA frame with cab and axles. Here in the northeast someone would love to use that to rebuilt their rusted out npr. It’s a 2005 so just before DEF equipment showed up on those. The frame on the 2005+ models is a little wider, too. The 454 should fit but I’m not sure it’s worth the effort doing the conversion. I just wanted the bulletproof diesel powertrain, harness, and all the relevant pieces for my motorhome. And that’s a major project in itself.
I had a hard time selling mine with an ls motor and cool I put my 4bd2 deasle into a madza truck lol

Did u get it running???? If not go online they make a computer chip bypass for those Angie's for those who want to do engine swaps I'm not how mucj it would cost but ik it's possible .....I'm looking at buying a truck myself :)

The motor in the 2012 I have is junk ! Head gaskets once, rod blew out the side of the block once(BRAND NEW AT 70,000), turbo fell off going down the road, limp mode probably 15 times, and many more problems! IT HAS 140,000 MILES AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN MAINTAINED. THEY ARE BAD NEWS!!

4cy diesel has 128 hp 🤣 250 fp torque
5.3l v8 gas has 355 hp and 383 fp torque lol

Plenty of medium (that is NOT a "heavy duty" truck in the trucking world) duty rigs including rollbacks ran gassers that make less power like the C-50 I harvested a 366 from a few years ago. Gearing makes the difference and it was common for GM, Dodge and Ford petrol engines to be used from pickup trucks into their medium duty range before economy (remember when diesel was cheap?) pushed manufacturers to drop them. Plenty of big FE Ford engines were also used in medium duty dump and flatbed trucks.
