In many Arabic Folk songs you'll find the singer starting their song with a part called "MAWAL" which is the intro here and you thought they were trying to put you in tears, The fact is they are not it's just the MAWAL
basically the MAWAL is just for the artist to show their vocal abilities and hit some notes that they can't in the song itself.
Mawals can be deferent "Maqam"s based on the region and the artist's preference.
FYI the word AFANDIM is used by many Arabic countries and that is due to the Ottomans occupation of many Arabic countries for a long time.
This song is Fulla's originally but because she is a guest in TARATATA show with ASSALA they performed it together, otherwise it is not a duo
