    Hey team, I come from Indonesia, how can I export spices and coffee to the USA?

    • @TimForrestConsulting
      @TimForrestConsulting  Před měsícem

      Great question. You will need to locate a partner in the United States to assist with this effort. The US purchases half of the worlds food. The financial reward is so great that most suppliers of any size are attacking the market. In order to compete, you will need a presence here and a connection to the market. Who do you currently know that lives and operates in the United States? What avenues and methods can you obtain new connections in the USA? How can your governments export offices assist in your expanding connections? What are you reading and who do you know in Indonesia that is already exporting to the USA? Much success.

    Are the import fees/tariffs that I would pay to import a product I bought from a foreign country differ at all from import fees/tariffs that I would pay for a product that I made at my own foreign manufacturing facility?

    • @TimForrestConsulting
      @TimForrestConsulting  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Great question! Generally, the import fees/tariffs are consistent, regardless of whether you own the manufacturing location or not. However, each product and situation does indeed vary. It's crucial to dive into specifics like the product type, commodity, and whether it's a food or supplement, as regulations can differ significantly.
      Our approach starts with understanding the exact product you're looking to import and all the details surrounding it. This ensures we address any specific considerations tied to foreign manufacturing effectively.

      Great question and I appreciate the comment. This is what I've been working on for over 30 years with producers and agricultural co-ops. The key is find locations to retail your product to the appropriate shoppers. Begin on the farm, do you have a busy highway nearby that you can sell direct to consumers? There are other direct to consumer opportunities and beyond. Do you have enough acreage and yield to begin thinking about branding and specialty crops? @TimForrestConsulting  Před 4 měsíci

      Grade C or better on quality and when I checked with the FDA there were no issues with Yemen for raisins. Be sure to verify the quality and 70% of the order must meet the standard. Also, all of the customary safety and FDA/USDA compliance work must be complete for the order and included with paperwork and commercial invoice when required. Obviously, I'm not providing you actionable guidance and this is general information. You will need to confirm all prior to shipping to avoid any Denial of Entry issues at the US port that may result in refusal of entry or disposal.

    I currently live in the UK, I am a small online based candy store and have been asked through social media if we could ship to the US as alot of people would like to try british candy , we buy and resell big brand candy, how do I go about this

    • @TimForrestConsulting
      @TimForrestConsulting  Před 2 lety +1

      The administrative requirements are not attractive. My suggestion would be to source the British candy makers that have US distribution and arrange for shipments from their US direct to consumer distributors. The product must meet packaging requirements, manufacturing protocols of the FDA, Customs clearance requirements including notice, and and any applicable tariffs and taxes in this category to contend with depending on the product. The difference in product definitions for chocolate in the UK and US can also present complications. It may be a fun project if you focused on a single manufacturer or limited items. It would require working through the various requirements over time and building distribution for a fun and novel item that could build traction and gain a following.

    Hi Tim, I want to import prepackaged dried fruit to resell. If it true that if it can pass the custom through using a logistic company, it has all the paperwork it needs? Means the logistic company usually takes care of clearing the custom right? If the product doesn’t meet the requirements, it would be stopped in the customer not letting it come into us correct? Are you the logistic company will take care of the paperwork and shipment? Thanks a lot!

    • @TimForrestConsulting
      @TimForrestConsulting  Před rokem

      Thank you, Amy. You would benefit from watching the series of videos on importing into the USA. The logistics company is unable to process all of the needed paperwork and requirements to bring food products into the USA. They handle a small portion during delivery and getting processed - they DO NOT handle the many important and required processes that are the importers responsibility and legal requirement. Yes, products are turned away or disposed of and incur fees for meeting the various rules and laws at the port of entry. There is more information on my schedule page www.timforrestmarkets.com once you book into the system. Step by step.

    • @TimForrestConsulting
      @TimForrestConsulting  Před 2 lety

      Great question, Amadeus. First, I'd suggest you consider the issues, complications, consequences and costs of not handling this area correctly. If your product is found to not meet compliance at the port it can be denied entry. You can pay to dispose of the product and pay storage fees along with the potential return shipping. This can be expensive but it's the beginning of further expenses and issues going forward. A vendor that has suffered a refusal will come under special review on future deliveries. This includes extra fees and storage time until port officials can get to your shipment. We do this FDA work for our clients and think we are a tremendous value. Best of luck in your efforts.

    • @TimForrestConsulting
      @TimForrestConsulting  Před 2 lety

      Hi Amadeus, Are you outside of the USA with your honey? I assumed you were international due to tthe video. My response centered on international shipments. Thank you for the note. An amount that would appear to be for personal consumption is okay. The border agents are provided agency in reviewing the amount and allowing it to pass. You should have no issue with an amount that an average person would consider okay for personal consumption. No FDA certificate is required in general for personal use. The caveat is for commodities that pose a risk or are known to have issues for the health and US agricultural community. Best of luck and enjoy those mangos!
