Jessiely Cruz got teary eyes too 😢😢 i was touched what the couple did to them and also the fisherman gave them fish..😊❤️
did you show A long this video?what was his reaction
@VeryTalented Channel Name Mindanao is the name of the entire island, Sitio Jamboree is probably a small place @ the Governor Generoso county which is on a peninsula in the southeast of Mindano.
I'm from Mindanao when you pass by in, expect everyone will see happy to be closer in your yacht as we seen only in the movie.♥️
Or alternatively, get their heads cut off...just sayin'

@@purest_evil But take note, not all Filipinos are same as Alo. There are also out there are stupid. Choose the good one. 🙂🙂🙂
I was scared at first... But just like what I said Filipino's are polite and very hospitable people. Traditionally once you give them something like food they will return something also in all their expense like a traditional barter exchange.
Proud to be a fellow Canadian (Saanich, even) to these fine folks.
The world needs to see more of this and less of the mainstream news. There is good in the world and it far outweighs the bad.

I really appreciate what you did to our fellow Filipinos. I am also coming from Mindanao living in Norway. That is always like that bargaining food or things.

Omg! i am so proud of these people. They're approaching you to give something without actually expecting anything back, i know because i understand what theyre saying.
And you might not know this, but what theyre actually giving to you is like a big part of their total income.😊
Most of the places in the world, if you enter a country with a firearm, you go to prison. The only weapons you can reasonably carry are knives, flare guns and spear guns.
oh they expect something back bruddah! you really think they don't want anything back? come spend a couple months sailing in indonesia young one. amazing people here but nothing is free

Thanks for visiting the Philippines and taking a risk.
Fresh tuna in exchange to canned tuna, doesn't matter who wins the trade but what important is the cordiality.
Oh yeah I just realized that but they gave other things besides canned tuna so yeah
They communicating. Moral of scene.
They gave stale crackers. This whole video was horrible.
@@jarritos257 lol, the WHOLE video?? lol. Now, I am curious what a good trade for them would be, but.... Btw, crackers to them would be so exotic (potentially) that they would be treasured, just for the novelty (who knows??). Imagine finding "fresh" crackers or chips in the middle of a jungle. It doesn't happen. No, the nutrition isn't comparable, but the sensation would be infinitely more valuable to bored fish-eating fishermen. plus getting anything from a celebrity type of encounter feels special.
They just want their family back home to try your Food. We call it "imported" here. Hahaha

watching from Cal. USA. being a Filipino in far away place and watching your video makes me appreciate your being so kind to those fisherman. We are God fearing people and friendly. I like watching your blog. May the good Lord protect you from bad weather and make safety in your travel.
Mindanao especially those areas were given a really bad rep by the national media/press. The people there are as polite & will give you a warm welcoming smile just like in the rest of the country. Thank you for visiting again & showing The Philippines to the world. See you guys again & Safe Travels ⛵ God Bless!
I agree with you. I thought Mindanao is a war zone. When I went there in June, my jaw dropped. Where is the war that the media is saying everyday. I saw the peace loving and caring people. And my perception towards Mindanao changed that day.
Gionne Jette Gorchez yer the Australian government says do not go there , if you are there leave immediately. So I went there . Probably the best part of the Philippines although my wife refused to eat me go to Zamboanga city

That’s what you call “Barter System” where you exchange goods with other products which is done in remote areas where the monetary system is non existent.
The boats name “Mary Grace” easily gives away the Christian or catholic background of the boatman.
Yeah i almost forgot barter system
Yeah. A lot of Filipinos are devout Catholics. Good people!
ya i like that
The boat named JUAN DELA CRUZ meaning and represents the ordinary FILIPINOs...counter part of UNCLE SAM of the Americans
more like counter part of john doe man.
it is sad when this lowly fishermen misjudged as pirates...
fishermen abound in that place (both Filipinos and Indonesians)
they are good people and barter trading of their local supplies is a way common since time immemorial
we are thankful ash and ben for educating the world about Philippines seas and sea piracy (?)
exactly!Barter Trade is common on this area

I love the Philippines, spent a lot of time there, met my wife there, started our family and am presently working on a WWII era project...quite large ....to travel and enjoy life. I never had a bad experience in the Philippines. Wonderful people, wonderful food, and a beautiful country in general.
thank you so much! As a former history teacher, I'm quite interested what kind of WWII era project are you doing if you dont mind me asking?
i am a seafarer myself..i miss passing in the strait of tawi2..barter fish over anything we can give..from medicine, food, coca cola, used coveralls and shoes.. am smiling watching this video...God bless and Bon Voyage
Those fishermen were so kind! They made my day, We need more people in the earth like that like if you agree.
Bless your journey guys🙏and thank you for giving and trusting my fellow men at the sea even if it’s risky. But I was touched on how both of u guys give and take from each other 🥰. Be safe and have a wonderful sailing ❤️
It's almost like trick or treating on the ocean
Right... Hhaahha
Barter trading is still being practiced among fisher folks. Coastal fishermen sometimes barter goods from the land for fish to trawlers who often spend months on end at sea.
Filipinos are usually curious, sometimes they try to stay close to you. Look at you or stare at you and Some foreigners find it intimidating but you know what just try to smile to them and maybe say Hi im sure you will be surprise how friendly they are.
I think they're not pirate they only curious for a yatch sailing right there becuase for them its strange.but this is Filipino tradition when you give them something they give you something in return. And this is also a barter exchange tradition for Filipino Fisherman and yes Its still Existed.
I think those fishermen are tuna fishers based at General Santos city, Philippines home of boxing champ Manny Pacquiao. They go as far as the border of Indonesia. If you visit Gen. Santos you will see the Tuna market.
You two are a fantastic and a amazing couple and i' m proud to live in a world where still people like you are living and following their dreams in the way you do.

I can usually tell a pirate vessel from a fishing vessel by the crew and ship. Pirates usually have galleons with long guns. The captains also tend to wear large hats and the crew carries cutlasses. I hope this comes in handy for you.
Haha
Shit. That’s what I normally wear when I’m under sail & I thought it was the cut of my jib that kept everyone away.
That brought tears to my eyes. I think they just want a taste of what you 'fancy people' are eating. Good trade. You still need to be wary though since it only takes one bad apple to get into a bad situation.

Filipinos are not just about sharing what they have, in this case as one already mentioned their income. It’s about hospitality and pride in sharing their humble culture to anyone who is willing. It’s not always material, they, we, are about having other cultures experience ours and we are very happy to do so albeit the many times we have been conquered by other countries in history. Call us gullible having been taken advantage of but the clean intent is first and foremost for us..
I really enjoyed this video and seeing your adventure across the globe especially the interactions with the locals in the Phils and other countries.

Great video! This reminds me of a similar exchange I made in a Cuban port a while ago. A couple of fishermen came near my boat. They wanted clothes, which I was happy to give them, and they gave me fish in return, which I didn't expect. But It was a memorable interaction.
The place you are talking about at 3:20 is called Sohoton Bay in Bucas Grande Island. I'm actually from the island, just on the other side and I wished I was there to meet you guys since I've been watching your videos for months now. We don't usually get a lot of tourists during this time but there are maybe one or two persons manning those areas.

Things like this makes me more proud to be Filipino ❤️ I think being nice and the hospitality is totally in our blood. Mindanao got a bad reputation because of some terror group out there they occupy very very small part of mindanao and mindanao is very big Island. I know tv and media makes a huge boost on showing bad rep in mindanao even some Filipinos like me not from mindanao are afraid to go there, but last year I came to visit and that I fall in love mindanao has a lot to offer especially awesome people makes me wanna live there ❤️ God! Those fishermen are so kind. #pinoypride
So beautifully said Ashley!!!! Positivity always trumps the bad!!!!

I'm a sailor and my previous vessel had a route arround that area. We always interact with the local fisherman via radio we just say "buli-buli" an indication that your vessel wants to trade fish with the fishermen. It was a really awesome experience they were able to trade huge tunas for cans of beers and packs of cigarettes feom us. Love the vibe. Hope you'll have fair winds and following seas ahead. Take care
Always such a relief when they are nice curious fisherman which is 99% of the time. We are very close to the Abu Sayeff events in what was it...2016? Lost a few friends in that one!
