    Thank you for all the time you put into doing your CZcams content we all appreciate you 🙏🏾👍🏾🙏🏾I have a question could you do an video about using 3rd party plugins specifically getting the mpc software and hardware to navigate threw 3rd party presets? For example when I have my mpc live 2 connected to the mpc software in controller mode and I load up xpand2 the presets are there you can navigate threw them without using an mouse basically you can use the MPC 2 big knob to scroll threw the presets. when I load up arturia v8 collection or some other 3rd party plugins there's no way to navigate threw the presets without using the mouse so is there away to connect the big knob on the mpc 2 to connect to 3rd party plugins so that it can scroll threw the presets? Without having to use a mouse? Some 3rd party plugins do work without having to use a mouse to scroll threw their preset not many 3rd party plugins there are some even some effects plugins.your help with showing or even giving a brief explanation would be very helpful thanks again for all that you share with us out here in CZcams land 👍🏾🙏🏾👍🏾

    I have a MPK249 and the MPC Live 2. Even if I didn’t have the MPK I have other controllers and synths. That’s why they made the Fabric and the FabricXL. The sounds are fuller in controller mode. Your polyphony and layering possibilities increase as well. To me they are the souped up versions of DB-33, Velvet , and mini grand. The X with the plug-ins should be a dream because of having more Q-links.

    Interesting, as a keyboard player the MPC key 61 is hugely interesting to me - (never had any other mpc) so a a stand alone solution it ticks a lot of boxes. That said reviews do seem to show has quite a few bugs (& limitations) , in comparison for the money you pay. I’m thinking still highly likely to get one- but maybe after it’s matured a bit eg software uptakes/expansions.

    I am a really lousy player but I know some music theory and I know quite a bit about instruments. I recently acquired the MPC KEY 61 because I wanted to have a tool to switch on and make music - simply. I have a few guitars, a midi controller and Cubase and most often I would loose the inspiration while I geared the thing correctly. I wanted to have one thing that I switch on and go on.
    Ok, the Key 61 functions like that but it is amazing how slowly it fires up. It takes like 2 minutes. The keyboard is ok-ish but it is plasticky. I prefer a wooden piano keyboard but I can live with this keyboard. The only real bugger is that when you play harder the keys to the bottom they make quite a noise. But like I said I can live with this keyboard. It certainly is not bad but it is not good either.
    The one thing that I have been truly disappointed is the sounds. The pianos are ok-ish. There are fairly good grand options but none really to my preference. I can not find the initial “klang” in any of them. E-pianos are ok and I suppose organs too. Guitars and horns - frankly not good, way way way behind the Yamaha sounds. Synths, Pads, bells are ok but they are ok in every synth.
    Having said all that I still think it is the best instrument for me for this price and I think it will not take too many years anymore that the instrument makers can make “a perfect workstation”. We definitely need still better sounds, a bit better user interface and while it sounds pickering it is quite important that the tools work quickly because sometimes the ideas live in your mind only very little time, sometimes just seconds and you have be able to make them concrete to further develop them. Like you grab an acoustic guitar and throw in the idea - it just takes seconds. No switching on, no waiting. In a way it is a bit like the difference between the Mac and Windows world. Jobs always emphazised that the TOOL has to be there like picking up scissors (btw. I use Windows even though it is not as quick to fire up as Mac : )))
    It’s got to be something like 30 years ago that I bought a Korg DW 8000 and things have come a long way. Synth sounds are still the same-ish but other instruments have really become something “real”, way enough at the best instruments. But with the Key 61 I think the guitars and horns are not up there yet. Pianos, strings, epianos, organs and synths I can live with. My problem is probably the fact that I have been a guitar lover for about 50 years and I just know when the guitar sound is good and when not - for my ears.

      I don't think it's ready for primetime they need to work on the sounds and get better with making more tracks available in standalone mode.

I love mpc beats 2 but when i have a priority choice to make definitely my mpc x is the go to for me. Oh yea thanks for the tutorial on how to use my mpc x it really helped a brother out

    There's always a compromise between performance, features and price. MPC Key 61 isn't for everyone. I just wish Korg had adopted the same DAWless workflow philosophy in their Nautilus. The sounds are awesome and sounds stream instantly. However, no pads, no piano roll and as far as I can tell, no bounce to sample capability.

    Doc, question:
    Do you think that Akai will come out with an update to make the Key 61, more on par with the controller mode? Or will they come out with another version of Key 61 MK2 with more cores first..& more plugin capabilities..
    My biggest gripe is having to stop my creative process to having to convert my plugins to audio to free up more tracks to use more than 8 plugins..It’s so frustrating:(
    I’m trying decide whether to sell my Key 61, as I already have the One..& wait until the MK2 Key 61 comes out, and wait to see if they will address the limitations of just 8 plugins…or hold on to my Key 61 & hope Akai will come out with a big update to address the limitations of 8 plugins…
    What are your thoughts?

    • @SampleKingsVideos
      @SampleKingsVideos  Před rokem +1

      The best way I found to use the mpc key 61 is controller mode with my M1 Max MacBook Pro 64GB ram otherwise it was only good for non keyboard players. I don't think they will be putting out a new MPC key they need to build MPC 3.0 and that might make the MPC key 61 better.

    • @thegoldenamerican
      @thegoldenamerican Před rokem

      @@SampleKingsVideos thanks for the response. Much appreciated 🙏🏽..I will try to hold onto it. I’m looking at the Isla S2400… and that might take the place of the Keys at some point.. if it’s easier creative process. What do you think of the Isla S2400?

    • @thegoldenamerican
      @thegoldenamerican Před rokem

      @@SampleKingsVideos I was also trying to avoid using a computer as I am much more inspired to go stand alone and that’s what I’m used to the most of my time using equipment.. for 20+ years.. the controller mode also means that I have to buy the beats 2 ($200) software…:(
      But if Akai doesn’t address it & and I find it easier to get my tracks down in Isla S2400, then .there’s a possibility that I may sell the MPC Keys..

  • @mpmi7588

    So in making sure I understood what I just watched, the plugins sound better used with a stand alone computer than with the mpc key 61 and that is the reason you returned it?

    • @SampleKingsVideos
      @SampleKingsVideos  Před rokem +2

      Yes, when you use the MPC KEY 61 the cpu is to busy and my M1 Max MacBook Pro was faster than the MPC KEY 61 and sound was consistent.

  • @mpmi7588
    @mpmi7588 Před rokem +2

    How about using the mpc key 61 as a straight up sampler like an asr-10? No plug-ins. Wouldn't that work?

    • @SampleKingsVideos
      @SampleKingsVideos  Před rokem +1

      That works. The MPC KEY 61 works as a sampler too, the keyboard sounds better in controller with a computer that has a chip more than 4 cores. The MPC X, MPC Live, MPC Live 2, MPC One all have 4 core and they are great for sampling but now we have Keyboard plugins we need more power for them to sound like they should.
