      I'm of the opinion WW2 has so many epic stories THAT ARE REAL that its hardly necessary to add your own extras. I often think the writers of these types of what if stories have actually read much about ww2 , "truth is far stranger than fiction" really does apply in the case of ww2 , stick to the real thing, there's plenty of weird events to 're enact in 28mm

    V1 it did not get buzz saw, V2 vehicle now gets buzz saw. There is less armour on the sides and rear of vehicles, book not on hand, I believe it is one less for sides two less for rear. You guys did not put on a bunch of the vehicle pins. Smg does not lose acuracy for moving (though it rolled all 6s so that made absolutely no difference). However, most of the errors balanced themselves out, and the game was enjoyable to watch.

A lot of the things you guys were doing was making me scream at the screen haha!! its mostly so that the more newcomer to this who struggle with the books can watch and learn rather than reading. A lot of very simple basic stuff was missed and just made up.. which I think let you down the most.. BUT!! So two big mistakes in this one. first with a snake eye your troops understand their orders so well that you can now roll as if your troops are rallied meaning instead of removing the single pin for the order test, you can now roll D6 plus 1 to remove additional pins. then make your regular move. also when shooting at the backs of vehicles you get a +2 to hit. Great game thought guys thanxz. would love to see more of this in future videos.

  • @hazed1009
    @hazed1009 Před 7 lety

    guys you made same mistake I did with the new warlord pin markers, they're actually a lot MORE USEFULL than you might have first noticed ! if you look closely the base has little numbers - 1 to 12 and the spiked explosion has a little triangle shaped pointer on one side ! you use just the one marker per unit not a bunch of them. the only problem to highlight the numbers and arrow you'll need to paint them white and they're so small it seems impossible but here's what I did - slop some white acrylic paint on some plastic or shiney non stick FLAT surface (I used a mirrored tile thing as it was nearby) spread the paint out evenly in a nice wet layer then take a round base turn it upside down onto the paint and gently twist it in a bit- if you get it right only the numbers are covered in white and you gently pick it up - get it wrong and paint will splurge the numbers but don't worry just wipe off with wet cloth and try again. paint the little pointer white on the spiked bit , overspray the plastic with varnish or i prefer Plasticote spray can as its tough and used liberally and evenly really feels like plastic coat and will seal a built of pen on a dice for an age!
    what you then realise is warlord wasn't being measily with the pin markers after all haha

    I know this is an old video, but I think you should have had the pill bunkers on over watch at the start. Your terrain is blocking you from seeing most of the board. Not having something with anti armor on the board from the beginning was a really bad idea. Guys in a bunker get to fight first in melee. Basicly them firing at the fatal funnel coming into the bunker.

  • @erupendragon7376
    @erupendragon7376 Před 7 lety +2

    Amazing. Wish I could see more of these. Sniper is 36" range, ignore all to hit modifiers except pin markers. Only problem with your Bat Rep, is way too much German armor in the beach. There are many reasons why that does not happen. One of them is beaches are zeroed in with heavy mortars and heavy howitzers from really far away, or in Normandy (example) by massive artillery in high positions in the two extremes of your beach stretch. Game would be more interesting and fun if you went... massive infantry, then Engineers, then armor. And defenders are English! what happen to all the artillery?

    • @topperdepop
      @topperdepop Před 7 lety

      Agree on heavy armour presence, although it seemed to work well enough in this game. Also, the guys seem to have ignored the new Tiger Fear rule, which would have applied to both the Pz.IV and the Panther, which would have probably had a significant effect on the battle. It would therefore have been better to put them on opposite parts of the beach, to give as many British units as possible LoS and maximise the effect.

      It's really not too complex, and it shouldn't need that. Especially for bolt action, where every weapon is pretty generic. You just have to look at the reference sheets in the back of the book. If you don't have the book you can still download reference sheets.

    I don't know if the vehicles moved correctly? Especially the British with all the obstructions... I was under the impression that vehicles could only move in a straight line and tracked vehicles could only turn to the side once.
    Secondly, I thought you couldn't fire over or through your own troops?
    From an army builders perspective, its interesting that the tanks had very little influence on the outcome of the game, especially when they ended getting locked in a tank vs tank duel.
    I dont know if theres much of a points difference there is between the two, but in real life a Stug had better armour protection than a Marder.

    One more thing.... you cant assault the front of a bunker!!! that's the whole point of having a bunker. When assaulting a building have to measure from the model to the closes door or window, or whole in the building. The shooting slip is not any of those, they have to go around and assault the door. Also in one of the supplements there are rules for Bunkers. They have -1 to all results in Preparatory bombardement and artillery, air; bombardment. Bunkers are supper OP, but great for these scenarios.

    • @topperdepop
      @topperdepop Před 7 lety +4

      True, but they didn't so much assault the bunker as dump a big satchel charge into it, which they house-ruled anyway. There was no following melee, and these rules worked very nicely in this scenario imho.

      @jeremy1392 Před 7 lety

      Hitler's Buzzsaw rule applies to all german LMGs and MMGs. This is because the MG42 and MG34 were only slightly different in function and role. They both took tons of ammo and spit it at the enemy quickly, loudly, and furiously. As to where they got the shermans, The americans floated a bunch across the atlantic, and some just so happened to reach british shores.

      Also, Justin only used a single MMG on each of his tanks. If you forego firing the big gun you can fire two MMGs per tank (one is coaxial to the main gun in the turret). A similar situation happened with the Firefly in its final action, which saw it firing only its SuperHvy AT Gun at the Panther; it could have also hosed the nearby German infantry with its bow-mounted MMG. Most tanks are overcosted as they are, so you might as well use every gun at your disposal!

      Sami Koivisto new rules mean vehicles get extra dice too - and just to let you know FINALLY the tigers 88 is classed as a very very useful HE damage dealer it is equivalent to a medium howitzer with 3" hit circle . a tiger finally is worth the dosh!!! 2×6d6 mmgs or 1xsuper ATgun with 3"HE shell plus new as meg is applicable to commanders coppula I believe (probably add 15 or 25 points )

    I thought when firing at a bunker you need a 6 followed by a 6 to kill in buildings and bunkers?

      Both are great in my view, but I think BA is easier to get into. The rules are simpler, and the command dice mechanism is very intuitive. However, I do LOVE the fact that you can field a large force in FoW.

    Before i Begin don't get me wrong, i'm not hating on This man's scenario at all. In fact his is one of the finer, more detailed and actually reasonable ones i have heard, which works in the grand strokes but falters in the finer details. This man knows his ww2 history well and i respect that. Good enough for a alternate scenario to be acceptable. But i'm going to state why it still most likely would not work.
    The scenario though fun would still not work, for the same reasons operation sea-lion never could work in 1940, royal navy to big and controls channel, Germany lack of real fleet capable of landing troops, lack of landing equipment and boats, RAF is in effect. But in this scenario you created the landing would still not work but even more so, stronger Allied navy presence, British army had time to rebuild and prepare, RAF reinforced with US support air assets as well, US military assets even if only 20% is dedicated to European front more than enough to defend the UK. Plus the threat of a soviet army marching into the Reich would draw away any serious fighting power from the western front of the Germany army.
    In the real war though Dornitz did get more U-boats than he asked for, by the time the Americans joined the war, allied technologically advances made u boats become ineffective and become steel coffins by 1944. The RAF being destroyed would be incorrect as the plan was to draw back squadrons to beyond German bomber range and build up strength for when the invasion game, if the battle of Britain started to become a losing battle for the RAF.
    Another problem Germans would face is, well u-boats don;t make good invasion transports or logistical vessels, and an only airborne invasion would not work either. The truth is German production capability would not allow them to build all the u-boats they need and planes to keep fighting the UK while also arming up there army to fight Russia and build the transport ships to invade the UK.
    The more they invested to fight the UK the less they have to fight the soviets and so they start losing on that front sooner and getting pushed back.
    The Germans even if they could create a beachhead and invade successfully, there supply situation is what would kill them in the end, when the royal navy and US Forces start closing up the supply lines across the channel. Remember the Channel is very shallow a death trap for U-boats by 1944. Just look up what happened to the u-boats that attacked the fleet on D-day. Yet again this is 1944 so we now have Mad Hitler in charge who has no sense of long term strategic viability. so this landing does not surprise me.
    Unless the UK is allowing the Germans to land, just to then trap a large amount of the German troops on the beachhead, then bring in the royal navy to strangle them off from retreat and then slowly destroy the Germans.Don;t get me wrong though, i'm not hating on This man's scenario at all. In fact his is one of the fine,r more detailed and actually reasonable ones i have heard, which works in the grand strokes but falters in the finer details.
