2016 Chinese PLA Navy Self Heating MRE Review JT-07 Survival Ration & Tasting Taikonaught Space Food
Vložit

- A true shelf stable food journey. Starting with a 2008 JT-07 Life Saving Food.
Then to 2004 boxed for dignitaries at a convention (from the 2003 Shenzhou 5 Flight) - Taikonaught Space Food. I bought this from a guy who was also selling US NASA Space Food, but all those lots went for thousands of dollars. This was only $450 - American collectors weren't interested. It was the only item I won in like 20 lots. The rest went for much more. Yang Liwei ate this food on his flight. (I think I mis-pronounce his name as "Ling-way" in this review, filmed 4 1/2 years ago. -My apologies for the mispronunciation.) If anyone has any other variants of this flight mission's food, please contact me. I want to document as much shelf stable food from China as possible. Those moon cakes were fascinating and had an excellent shelf life. I've seen one photo of a Taikonaught eating those same exact cakes. Do they still produce them? The glycerin coating and lack of any oxidation or degradation to the flavor in a period of 16 years was impressive. Along with the texture and flavor.
Then to the third shelf stable food item - a 2019 Type 03 PLA Pilot Survival Ration. A fascinating compressed food blend that is sure to inspire some great and imaginative conversation.
And finally to the 2016 PLA Navy Self Heating Meal - what a terrific ration. With unique nutrition and food that makes these Chinese rations so truly fascinating.

He's not using a translator. Once again, as legend has stated, Steve proves that he can read any language ever created as long as it's on a military ration.
Steve doesn’t speak languages, he just happens to know everything on military rations
An admittedly lesser super power, but useful none the less.
What is "google lens"?
Not even Chuck Norris can do that.
Maybe a hint to where he is located but I‘ll shut up now.
Hearing Steve say “ I’m not gonna eat that” sends a chill up my spine
I think he learned his lesson from the PLA meal from a few years ago...

Whats really bizarre is that its pretty much only steve whos complaining about the pla rations literally search in youtube for ANY pla ration and many enjoys them, why its only steve who has problems with it?
He already is!
@@ThomasZukovicif you watch the video he actually thinks these rations are good. His community likes to make racist jokes about how the Chinese rations nearly killed him or whatever.
@@ThomasZukovic Well the validity of his claims are proven, during the beef noodle one he showed how the meat was green (rotten).
So perhaps he is just very unlucky, or his supplier does not keep them in good storage place, or the PLA cut corners on their MREs.
@@ThomasZukovicthis man has eaten meat from the first boer war and bread from the 1800s if something makes him sick it is not suitable for human consumption
Chinese here, to be fair that "space food" Steve got here is more of a tourist trap souvenir sold at some space museum in China, the American counterpart would be those "space ice cream sandwich" sold at some NASA museum. Because there is no way they would be eating canned food with that much liquid in a weightless condition. But its still pretty impressive Steve actually could get his hand on those stuff.
Yeah. I wondered about that when the packet described it as "space food."
Just seemed a bit redundant, and not the sort of thing actual astronauts or scientists would refer to something as.
The weight of the packaging and the sharp tins being g conductive would not happen.
I was thinking that the dust coming off the pineapple would really mess up air filters. But I've been binge reading "The Expanse."
Lmao Steve got got
who is to say the same food wasn't present inside Yang's capsule back in the days, of course you're not getting the ACTUAL cans he brought to space, what are we talking about here

@@jeremynelson5311 He used to eat it even if it was kind of bad in his opinion.
But im pretty sure the last trip to the ER convinced him he needs to stop doing that with these rations, and historically speaking Chinese MRE's have always been the worst when it comes to long term quality, even under kind of "ideal" storage conditions.

@@tdolan500it might be something more like that in the original Chinese but translation always loses some of the message. I speak English, Welsh, Japanese and BSL and a lot of the time translating creates confusion for the person getting it in English because those other languages are so literal but in light of the culture they come from the message is completely different. English is a very fast and loose language that changes quite frequently but others have stayed the same for so long because of the rules applied to them that you could almost consider them as ancient.

@@samadams2203 indeed, most likely the tooling or mold for Chinese characters are several times more expensive than those for Roman letters. Like many food and beverage products in China, these are produced in one of them massive state owned enterprises, their only incentive for using these markings are to distinguish these products from other similar food products they produce for other markets like for sale to the public, so for them, something that is simple and reliable is more than enough for their purpose.
