    An interesting factual WW2 engagement to recreate within BA I would suggest, would be the battle for Castle Itter. It was the only battle where Americans and Germans (Anti-Nazi Wehrmacht Heer) fought as allies during the war (against Waffen SS). When you read about it on Wiki you'd be forgiven for thinking it was the latest Tarantino film - it's superb and TRUE!

    if i was to get into it, I would do a Soviet army inspired by the fighting at Khalkhin Gol in 1939. So a light army but facing the Japanese. its a part of the second world war that not many look into or really re enact to any great degree

    Always got to have big squads, irrespective of what actual game [system] you're playing - the only reason to ever take small squads, in my opinion, is to use up some remaining points that you can't find something more exciting to do with ...

    FYI Finland technically lost the winter war as 40% of of Finland became part of the soviet union. Finland is interesting because they fought the winter war, then the second world war then they fought the Germans in 1944 in Finland known as the Lapland war

    Can the US lists mix infantry types? For example, can I take mainly airborne but take a squad of rangers, and a army howitzer? Or do you need to stick to the themes, ie if you are usjng us marines, all your forces have to be marines, etc.

    • @SoloFalcon1138
      @SoloFalcon1138 Před 9 lety +1

      themes are up to you, but you may take whatever you wish from your army book.

    • @SaturmornCarvilli
      @SaturmornCarvilli Před 9 lety +1

      You certainly can mix infantry types. My Hurtgen Forest themed US list has a squad of rangers and rest are regular troops. Bolt Action's force organization requires an officer and two squads before it allows you to take 1 unit each from a bunch of weapon system groups such as mortars, dedicated machine gun teams, armored cars, howitzers, and tanks. After you bought the requirements you could have a medium mortar team, a heavy machine gun team (if your country has one), a light howitzer, something like a M8 Greyhound or a Puma as your armored car, AND a tank, tank destroyer, or self-propelled artillery piece. Well, if you have the points avaible to include all those things. But you couldn't have two mortars regardless of the caliber in one platoon unless your country allows it (The United States doesn't).

    I love doing historical accuracy. I am currently building a 1942 German Panzerarmee Afrika 90th Light Infantry Division. I have another buddy doing a German Panzerarmee Afrika 21st Panzer Division and our enemies are two of my other friends doing an American III Corps (though part of the II Corps in North Africa) 1st Infantry Division and British 8th Army Polish 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division.

    Can I buy the most expensive products and use them vs my opponent who isn’t very good? I also use my infantry to capture his tanks and use them to drive over his infantry then I drive them from the table and jump out and continue fighting. I also use my airborne to jump from fighter planes after I shoot him up

      You think im joking??Search it up. Erwin Rommels forces consisted of Italians and Germans. It was under Rommels command that the italians shined. They were competent soldiers capable of doing great things but they suffered under the command of horrible leaders that knew nothing about leading soldiers into battle.

    • @Presbiter
      @Presbiter Před 9 lety

      That they shined in Africa was a combination of competent leadership, but also because the british elite troops were bound by german divisions. I am sure, they had brave soldier, just so very few.

    • @deathlegionair
      @deathlegionair Před 9 lety +3

      Remember, the french had the same problem but they never got to prove themselves really, the only person to really prove the french worth was a tank commander who retook a town from a german tank platoon.

    Are you sure that guy works for Warlord games? He consistently gets rules wrong. In this one the only one I caught was the German rule for Hitlers buzzsaw where its a +1 to equal 5 dice not four and he got that wrong. He has also gotten rules wrong in other games I have watched on this channel. Make sure everyone reads the rule book and checks the FAQ and Erratas on the website.

    For teh Germans it seems like a very bad idea to put flamethrowers on a transport, due to the rule where if a transport ever ends its turn closer to an enemy squad than a friendly one it is immediately destroyed.

    The storm tigers (great name!) weren't effective or used very effectively. VERY short range and the main gun isn't user friendly. Aiming them was crap. Like most armor they were very vulnerable to infantry attacks if they weren't supported by ground troops. They were great for taking out hardened bunkers and it doesn't get any better on frontal armor but it has a very specialized function in combat and they're SLOW. Flamethrowers and armor fists are just as good for bunkers and don't cost as much and you get more for the same price and they're more flexible. Don't forget to pop smoke when crossing into the open and always have snipers and 60mm mortars at a min. Basic rule of war #9 He who has the longest ranged weapons usually wins (70% of all casualties of WW2 were from artillery). Rule #1942 More is better.
    PS. Never played the game. Looks fun.

    "QUANTITY HAS A QUALITY ALL OF ITS OWN
    If you have more men than they have bullets, they will eventually run out of ammunition."
    Is this your historical accurate assumption? It's not as insulting as it is stupid and looks more as cold-war propaganda. As far as I know, the latest historical researches shows 1-1,3 ratio to Nazis/Soviet casualties. The main reason of huge losses were irrational ideas of terminating the civilians and infernal inhuman attitude to soviet POWs.
    Due to above said and historical evidences it would be more accurate to give soviets couple of free artillery barrages than this suspicious idiocy of "having more men than they have bullets".
