If your first thought after the Allen Texas Mall mass shooting is to ask for more gun control, you might want to hear me out because this video will explain why that's misguided.
These so-called polls after mass shootings are misleading because the questions are designed to get the answer that supports gun control. Of course, people are going to say they support laws to reduce gun violence, but creating the assumption that these laws will undoubtedly reduce gun violence is not true.
Background checks and age restrictions wouldn't have prevented the Allen mass shooting, and the mental health issue isn’t addressed genuinely as I explain in the video.
Let’s be honest, raising the age to buy a gun also wouldn't have made a difference in this case as the shooter was 33 years old, and the majority of mass shootings are committed by people over 21 years old.
I talk about how this dangerous rhetoric calling anyone who doesn’t support their gun control as accomplices in their crimes is dividing the country and creating an extremist mentality that inevitably leads to these atrocities.
It's essential to have conversations about how to fix this issue, but it's challenging when the other side is not willing to listen and only wants to weaponize anyone who doesn’t want their feel good gun control policies.
I talk about how banning certain types of weapons won't stop mass shootings, as people who are committed to mass murder will find a way.

A couple of days ago in Murfreesboro, TN, a father came home to his son and mother at gun point from robbers. He was thankfully armed and shot both suspects, killing one. The other is facing multiple charges.
It made the local news, but you won’t hear a peep from the national media or politicians about it because it goes against their narrative, and they especially don’t care because the father and his family are black-they only care when it’s a black victim and a white perpetrator. It’s awful and reckless.

Also a woman in West Virginia killed a man with an AR using her own handgun last year. Protecting a lot of people.

I have a couple of friends who were just shy of being in that shooting. They were pulling out of the parking lot and one of them heard bangs while they left. Fittingly enough we were texting earlier how we both wanted everyday carry weapons because of all the shootings. Afterwards he told me he is going to start saving for his edc. No laws will stop these evil people, why should we be held back when acting in self defense and the defense of others when evil snakes its rotten head out?

I actually received one of these poll calls a couple months back. I only stayed on the line to throw off their number in whatever small way I could. This is literally the first question they asked, verbatim... "Would you support new gun legislation that would save the lives of innocent children being murdered by guns"? I said "No", and was answered by stunned silence. She then asked me in her own words "seriously, you don't want laws that would keep kids from being murdered"? "Nope" I said. The next coupled questions were just like that. This is the only time in 47 years that I've ever been directly polled for anything. If this is what polls are like, they're not just worthless, they are nothing more than propaganda tools and an actual danger to our political process.
The way they utilize the lives of children to further an agenda and take away the rights of the people is absolutely disgusting.
Your answers did NOT fit THEIR narrative. So the pollsters probably didn't include YOUR answers in their survey. They want ONLY "yes" answers.

With 400M guns and a right to have them, you can't use the get rid of guns approach without ignoring or amending the Constitution. @hottdoggy145 look up some shooting news from Washington state. One instance that I can think of was a mentally ill person that was reported for being suicidal and owned firearms. Local police did nothing. Mental health counselors did nothing. Few weeks later, he drove to Seattle downtown, shot off a few rounds from his mosin nagant, and then attempted to shoot himself that turned into suicide by police.
It might work with the layperson, but it's not a strong argument as it's nearly impossible to prove cause and effect for something that _doesn't_ happen.

As a licensed gun owner living in Spain, I do agree about the fact that violence will be committed with any weapon, be it a gun or anything else. We not once had a thought about what kind of gun he had or how many guns he had. We knew he had to be sick and we needed to protect the people around us since we were carrying. I am so sick and tired of the politicians pushing the gun control. How can we the people protect ourselves from the government who are dead set on taking our guns? Did you You know brazil has lax gun laws yet every other day there's a video on "active self protection" of someone being shot to death there. They also have the most gun deaths in the world (gross number of gun deaths), and the US is 2nd. Brazil also has the 5th highest gun death per 100,000. We can increase access to firearms that way criminals have easy peasy gun access, and if we're lucky eventually we will catch up to Brazil and then everyone can worry about being shot during everyday routine activities. I was raised and taught That Guns are objects/Tools and do not have the ability to act on their own. They require human interaction in order to be used, and it is people who choose whether or not to use guns in violent or harmful ways. When other countries put in strict gun control, they had people saying "only criminals will have guns blah blah". What happen though, was that guns became so rare and expensive, that only hardcore criminals had them, and they didnt waist their time on stick ups and home invasions. They just ripped off eachother.
Gun control worked, because massacres became extremely rare to non existent and gun murders went down to 50-60 a year. Police also only had to shoot 1-2 people a year because no one had guns. Police in some countries even stopped carrying guns.

I'm surprised you didn't mention that the Allen Premium Outlet Mall is demarcated as a "Gun Free Zone", also known as a "Soft Target Zone". I live near that mall and have shopped there before, and to me it seems like a good idea to stay away from those areas deliberately made into soft targets.

In Texas state issued LTC holders may carry on any open to public space UNLESS they have posted verbatim Penal Code 30.06 (concealed) and/or 30.07 (open carry). And there are restrictions on where carrying is illegal anytime.

This is straight-up a common sense issue. Throughout my life I've been around people who are mental malfunctioning, potentially dangerous.
And others who are mentally well but don't realize their muzzle control sucks.
I just stopped hanging around them.

The Allen Mall property from what I've read the Mall was a property that didn't allow firearms on premise. I suppose this is why there were no Good Guys with guns, only the police officer that was able to stop the threat.

That’s false. I live within cycling distance of this place, right off highway 75. I’ve carried there every time I’ve gone and I can guarantee so do many others. My training is to get myself and my kids out of the situation. If I have to draw my gun, I would be firing while getting my kids to cover. I’m not there to be a good guy with a gun and save strangers. All the training I’ve had, and I’ve had plenty, never once involved me running toward the threat. That’s the job of law enforcement. My job is to protect my family, not strangers.

Laws work as punishment & reasons to lock peoole up away from society.

In California and other places that have limited capacity laws, most of the criminals have high capacity magazines.
