Have to remember this is Covid times. Glasses take too much to clean
I like your post covid haircut
Do you use Keeps?
Because airline CEOs think everybody wants super cheap air fares ,they decide to cutback on everything else and now air travel is like riding the public transit in a very bad neighborhood
You make me not want to ever fly
The fact that you can get into trouble for reviewing the airline, says everything you need to know about them lol
Not wanting and banning constructive criticism is a clear indication the airline is not interested in striving for excellence for their paying passengers.
He made a general statement about ALL US airlines not being happy about reviews - not just American.
Itâs actually more about not being to video/take pictures of cabin or crew per FAA regulations lol
Source: trust me bro
The fact that the airline is American, is everything you need to know
Summing up AA's first class service: "I expected nothing and I'm still let down!"
@Chae Seungha 274đ°đ· itâs no nut november
I donât expect much out of America anymore. Shitty education, expensive healthcare, school shootings, shitty service but everyone expects a 20% tip, race riots, obesity, crumbling infrastructure.
Great line. I shall steal it for future use. Thanks.
Juan Trippe
Substitute any American publicly traded entity providing goods or services and this still applies.
The $10K price should have been the first red flag for an 8 hour flight.
I admit I only make short flights when I fly at all, but the $10k shocked me
@@kirbygene it's 19K for JFK-BKK
for 10k you can tour asia lmfaoo
I just read an article about how AA flight attendants are fed up with trying to offer good service in the upper classes when they are so understaffed and the top execs are more concerned with budget than service.
Iâd be mortified if I had to profusely apologize to a 10k paying customer for not serving them champagne in a glass flute. Theyâre wonderful people and this is a sad reflection on the company they work for. Must be so frustrating seeing the airline fall to the bottom.
Nice video. I would never spend 10.000 dollars for a flight that lasts 8 hours and I find it ridiculous that they charge for WiFi after you paid the price as above.
I would never spend that much either. I hate flying just because economy is like a cattle car
Most of the time you don't have to. If you fly a lot you can usually either use a "system wide upgrade" from a business class ticket or buy the flight with miles. And they aren't always 10k either, I've seen it for as low as 3k on this route (but rare).
Wouldn't it be nice to be so rich that it wouldn't matter how much something costs.
@@t0kigh02t7 Actually no - because this type of 'thinking' will switch your brain off to understanding the concept of 'value' and turn you into a brainless wasteful fool. And you know what they say - A Fool And His Money Are Soon Parted
He didn't spend near that much. He said that he got a crazy deal with a co-booked ticket out of Casablanca. Bloggers often mention the HIGHEST possible listed price EVER that no one EVER PAYS anyways. Like: "This is worth $$$".
I'm a retired US Airways, now American, pilot. I would never want to fly any US carrier in First. It's so embarrassing that they represent themselves as such! I wish they would change, but I don't see it happening....sadly!
How are the weather delays treating you?
The issue I feel is that people these days set their expectations too high when traveling. I just sit and let it flow.
@@ticoguy05 In economy that's all you can do.
@@ticoguy05 But for the same price of the ticket, first class is much better in others airlines than American especially Asian and Middle Eastern which are the best.
@Chae Seungha 274đ°đ· that is very true. Many business class are in competition with economy. I say this from personal experience.
I just can't believe that anyone would actually spend $10,000 on a flight no matter how rich they were. $10,000 for a pair of pajamas, slippers, gross plastic wrapped food, a low class fight attendant, and plastic cups. I should start my own airline company
Having lived in Asia for over 30 years I can catergoriclly state that flying any american airline is sub par by comparison..... embarrasingly so... unfriendly interiors of the aircraft... poor and sometimes seriously unfriendly service by sometimes unkempt and downright dirty looking staff... to be avoided if possible... exiting the USA , I always get to an airportt and transfer to an Asian airline to fly trans pacific ... inconvenient but preferable.. I volubly laugh when I see that an american airline advertising that they are No 1 in the USA... means zero when it comes to the global markets...
excuse the typos*
Food like that just kills the whole experience. If they can't do First Class they shouldn't be selling it. Not surprising how businesses are using Covid as an excuse for their incompetence and lack of service.
God every business due to covid they can use that as their excuse
I've been flying AA for business for nearly 25 years. It has continued to get worse year after year. It all seemed to start to really fall off when the America West executives took over US Airways and then took over AA. It's a good airline that could be great but Doug and his executives are not focused on delivering a premier product. They are focused on being just good enough and getting customers from A to B safely. Catering is definitely an area where they just don't care. Dan, I do think the flight attendants were supposed to take off the plastic wrap prior to serving. As always, your video was spot on and well produced. Thank you!
Thank you for watching!!
I do not know why the Board of Directors has not Fired Doug Parker yet!! He has single handidly RUINED American Airlines with his total Disregard for SERVICE!! They just don't care about their customer's!!!
"They are focused on being just good enough and getting customers from A to B safely."
The last word in that sentence appears to not be true according to the latest report from the U.S. Department Of Transportation
Unfortunately, U.S. Air was poor as Allegeny, and even after acquisitions of PSA and Piedmont. Doug Parker thinks that cheap fares and hub-captivating is all that matters.
The food remaining wrapped when served is current procedure. Some pre-pandemic elements of service will return beginning November 10th.
My first flight I remember was when I was 12 on Wardair ... Canada to Scotland... it was tourist class and everything was served on royal doulton china... filet mingon for everyone... custard in a chocolate shell... all glass for drinking... it was worlds apart from what overseas tourist class is like. So sad things have gone down so far
I flew American airlines economy domestic, and it was absolutely amazing. I was super travel sick and the cabin crew looked after me so much
It's the champagne in plastic cups for me. I actually cannot believe it đ€§
And those plastic wraps. Itâs abomination to cross the galley into first class and present that to a customer. I tell Instacart grocery delivery service to not bring plastics into my house, surely I would have told those FA to not serve plastics on top of my food.
AA can you just cut Plastics out?
I just flew in Air France's "La PremiĂšre". Two worlds appart. 14 hours of ultimate luxury and pleasure (3 at the terminal and 11 flying). The food was marvellous. The china it was served on exquisite. The wine chart has no equivalent. Givenchy pijamas. The 1st class suite is amazing. It definitely is a 7 star hotel service (even with the chauffeur that takes you to the plane in an impecable luxury car).
Emirates has the best wine list in the sky
The difference no one exposes in forums like these is, those foreign carriers like Air France, British air ways, are subsidized and fully backed by their governments unlike our carries here in the US thus Air France can run a business model at a deficit with barely or no profit, while an American airlines who's raising capital from running its business, private bank loans and stocks sales has to make a profit for their investors and to pay bank loans and creditors even when business is lean and even the few times the U.S. government has help then out, via bail-out loans, they've had to pay it back and with interest, not so in socialist Europe or Asia.
@@greataviator6154 they are not subsidised at all, both had funding for Concorde research, that's all
@@greataviator6154 when european carriers get help they only get bail out loan which they of course need to pay back. They need to be profitable aswell. It is the EU that decides wheter a country is allowed to give a loan to an airline, France is not even allowed to give its airline money without approval from the EU. What you say is simply wrong. They also need to rely on investors money that is why they made a collaboration with KLM. Alitalia was unprofitable and now bankrupt. They need to be 100% profitable exactly as any US carrier needs to be
I totally agree. Flew La PremiĂšre 4 times and definitely the best in my experience.
This was filmed back in 2021, so Flight Attendants had less to work with during covid restrictions. I agree! It was totally embarrassing, so it was written up by the crew. They finally brought back the real mugs and glassware. Flight Attendants are now back to serving pre-departure drinks again. I hope you do an updated video.
And I agree! Catering is not the best in New York. The catering department needs to change the menu!

Ive flown economy my whole life as well and just a few weeks ago I was flying back to JFK from Dubai and upgraded to business class, I felt the same exact way. The seat was phenomenal and it was probably the most relaxing flight of my life

Food in economy class on on Singapore is way better than this
Dan, at least you got a first class menu in AA international flagship first class. When I flew DFW to LHR on June 22, the first class menu was the "business class" menu. I told the f/a that she gave me the wrong menu. She said nope, first class is being served from the business class menu. Most of the food was unrecognizable and lacked taste. Slippers and jammies on this flight? Nope, they weren't on the catering list. If I hadn't been flying on miles, I would have asked for a refund. Every time I asked my f/a about each and every downgrade, she said "covid". I call it cost-cutting by Doug Parker.
Downgrading service blaming COVID , yep weâve seen that around. I donât want to name the airline but on a recent international flight mixed drinks were cut and only beer and wine served blaming COVID. đ€·ââïž
@@Anonymouse166 sounds like DeltaÂź.

I flew in LHR on June 22 too but it was to Cairo
My domestic first class trip in July was so bad that it was rather funny. I actually laughed hysterically with a crew member at the meal which came in a box. That crew member took great care of me though, and served me a few nice cocktails. Covid has really done a number on things. I've always had great 1st class flights on AA pre pandemic.
Guys, if you are flying though London, make sure you have enough time to take your connecting flights. The lines at Heaththrow airport are insane and will give you an anxiety attack. I havenât been to Gatwick, so I can only assume it is the same because flying through UK itâs a total hassle these days. So take your precautions
ive flown from gatwick the most of my life and it really depends when you get to the airport, we never had many problems with MASSIVE lines but there were definitely some anxiety attack inducing lines đbut Iâm guessing its alot better than heathrow airport. :)
The Dolly Parton-esque FA was hilarious.
Southern humor is so distinctive. I love it.
Edit: I just had another laughing fit about the Botox and sleeping upside down like a bat.
I love a funny, witty, and charismatic flight attendant! Makes me relax more when flying. đ
I thought the plastic wrap over the served food, with not even rigid plastic wine glasses (just soda cups), were pretty bad - until I saw the bug on your dish! Inexcusable; you should have complained. It's like the old joke, " 'Waiter - there's a fly in my soup! Waiter: 'Please don't shout, Sir - everybody will want one!' ".
The bug won't eat much!!!
My thoughts exactly. Horrific!
BA flight crews told me 20 years ago to never eat on the flight no matter what class you are in. Eat at a really nice lounge or club or restaurant before you board and enjoy the flight. Ps. I don't know enough about American's actual schedule for the plane you were on, but the BA London Heathrow to Los Angeles plane actually goes London Calcutta London Los Angeles, so the water on your plane used for making food one-third if the time is loaded on board in Calcutta India.
Don't worry sir, the spider in the salad will get it....
@@davidzweiban5549 Re not eating on a flight I guess it's a matter of what-you-dont-know. People eat on flights by the thousands and don't get sick (most), so I guess if bugs on your food don't hurt you and you never see them... LOL. đ€· They key is, now, unfortunately, I know!
I recently flew from LHR to JFK in Business and was impressed how good the crew were, but the ground staff ("security" and AA) at Heathrow where the worst I have ever experienced! They felt the need to check my boarding pass four times (including the same person twice), determined to find a problem. So unprofessional. LHR is to be avoided if at all possible. Thanks for sharing, Dan.
Flew Flagship First from JFK to SNA. We were served with glassware and in courses. I agree that the food quality was underwhelming. The bathroom was also dirty.
AA is on my blacklist, and your experience reinforces me to leave it there. Thank you, you are objective, serious, honest and still manage to make your reviews enjoyable. Thumbs up.
i'd travel AA if i could to try but never in 1st i'd be back in coach plastic cups wouldn't look out of place
The tragedy of human history is that there is decreasing happiness in a world of increasing comforts. The industrial revolution has distanced us from the universe and its sad. I always travel AA from America to home in Indonesia đźđ©. The international flight is Japan airlines and the best service I've ever experienced. Always service with the biggest smile đ.
spot on
Hahaha
I think you are absolutely right. We have lost even the imagination to picture the struggle of our pre-industrial ancestors. But in this case, the video creator is ranking and evaluating what you get for a certain amount of money. As he said, $10'000 a ticket is a huge pile of money, and that should buy you more than what was offered.
đđđ totally agree with you
brotha, its a 10k plane ticket i would expect mucho more
"If you have the choice, fly another airline." My experience with AA in a nutshell.
Don't think I've ever talked to anyone who's flown AA say they want to fly AA again.
I was lucky to fly this round trip LAX-MIA just this past weekend and I'm glad to say that the meal service was significantly better. No plastic over the food and no plastic cups. No pajamas, unfortunately, but I didn't expect it with the short flight.
There isn't a single U.S. Airline worth booking a First-Class ticket. That went away in 1976.
it REALLY went away with the 1978 deregulation.
When you go to the website it shows these nice private bed type seating but it's far from it.
I fly Delta. They have been the best I've found in the US.
I heard jetblue is pretty good with their Mint Cabin. :)
@@neutrino78x YES! There Mint product is the best you will find in the U.S! I know that they are sometimes considered a budget airline but they have really changed.
For several decades now I have refused to fly U.S. carriers aboard from/to the USA. Foreign carriers just do it better in all classes. For our long haul domestic (it's a large country and with territories outside the mainland) well we simply have no choice and I've chosen to fly domestically as little as possible. Thanks for confirming what I suspected about AA International First Class. Any foreign airline in Business or even Premium Economy would have done a better job.
I did my 1st long distance Toronto-Cabo San Lucas about 5 years ago with Sun Wings ,all exclusive. Service was good, but was surprised my 1st impression felt like I entered a train in looks .The exclusive was memorable, I recommend it all the time .They pick you up and back to the Holiday Inn .A must on your Bucket list.
One nice thing about concord room and BA 1st flights you get direct access from lounge to plane. I flew AA international business a few times. Each and every flight were bad and even the FAs seem like they didn't want to be there on every flight I flew. I stopped flying AA a few years ago because I just didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth.
As an American I borderline wanna cry watching this LMAOOOO

So for those who have tried this seat: Am I the only one who feels like the seat is too "narrow"? My arms keep falling off to the sides, which is rather uncomfortable. For night flights I actually prefer the business class seat on the 777-300 from AA, the side walls keep my arms in place and are actually a bit more comfortable; if only they had the mattress pad for the business class as well, that would be a perfect seat.
Cathay's true first class from ORD to HKG was simply amazing. It doesn't even begin to compare to AA.
If I would have paid for that "first class" I would have been upset. Especially the food, bug and all. None of it seemed like it was worth it!
The bug was unforgivable but just might be a better protein than the meals provided!
Bugs are a delicacy in some parts of the world. đ€Ł

I haven't flown for eight years (internationally). After 911, flying became a more and more unbearable experience for the peasants and chattle; all the way from the queues and suspicious searches, to the impersonal kiosks, to being herded into our assigned holding pens like livestock, and then finally crammed into those chicken cages they call seats: "Here, have some peanuts and don't let your knees knock your teeth out during turbulance." Flying used to be relaxing even for coach class travellers. And then... there are the fellow travellers who are angry, disrespectful, stressed, sleep-deprived and or drunk. If I cannot fly at least first class on long haul flights, then I'll just stay home. And at those prices, it looks like I'm staying home.
Zen zone.

Catering service has obviously been simplified due to COVID. Not great value or experience but hardly fair for a supposed expert AV vlogger to completely ignore the fact.
I just got updated on NYC - SFO last weekend on American's transcon planes and the food was served significantly better on that flight in business than what you experienced. Decent food, solid plating - no plastic wrap with drinks in glass cups. I know American finally cut some of their cost saving BS over the past month or two, but crazy that my overall service was way better on a 6 hr domestic flight in business vs your experience in first internationally.
I work for American. Their flagship first class from New York to SFO is actually their flagship first service. Which is better than their international first class.
thank you for sharing this I really understand you are doing great job
Our dinners were served like that âŠâŠ. at school lol
Doug Parker watching this, thinking: "I'll make this product even worse". LOL
As someone who has never experienced first class on any airline, I must say, it was a bit disappointing to see this. The service my wife got flying economy on Lufthansa wasn't to the level of your experience in first class on AA, but it wasn't far off. I guess if I ever fly internationally, I'll make sure to fly on an international carrier for the long haul of the flight.
AA has been circling the drain for years. I used to fly them all the time years ago but when they started cutting back their service and the quality went downhill I stopped flying with them. Live insects with your meal - I guess that's the protein? That's gross. If their first class was this bad, it makes you wonder what economy was like.
'Circling the drain' - well that's a new phrase I have learnt.
In 2013, I travelled to Orlando with my mum. We travelled in economy class and my mumâs seat could not recline. The flightâs duration was 8 hours and a little more (from Buenos Aires to Orlando). The flight was full so she could not change her seat and when we got to Orlando, her back has hurt a lot for 1 week
I do appreciate when an airline provides a video port in their premium cabin IFEs, especially an HDMI port. It makes it a whole lot easier to do work, as you can plug your laptop into it and work in dual monitor mode with your laptop screen and the IFE screen. I'm composing this comment from my desktop computer with a dual-monitor setup and I can't tell you how constrained I feel when I switch over to my single-screen laptop. Speaking of composite video ports seen in this video, next time, I'll bring a compact retro game console (e.g. my PlayStation 2 Slim) and test it out. Finally, that port below the video jacks is a Panasonic eXport, a long-deprecated standard for plugging your Apple iPod into the IFE and controlling and charging it on the screen.
Thanks so much for this report. Your camera work is terrific at documenting and supporting the opinions you formed during the trip. I've flown plenty of international first and business and couldn't agree with you more - I'll save my AA points for a flight on one of their better partners.
The desk is one reason for me to fly this route. Though I suspect that BA would be better food wise.
I flew American First Class from Savannah to Las Vegas in April. It was so awful as to be a joke. Return flight they gave us a bag with one bottle of water and one pack of crackers. No food service at all, and when I asked for another water I was told none was available, but they could bring me a (plastic) cup of water. Sent a note to customer relations when I got home, telling them of their weaknesses, never heard back. Lost me as a customer forever.
I recently flew United first class and what your describing is much better than what I experienced. The only thing that was better than the economy was the width of the seat. The food was served with plastic utensils and the beverage was served in a small plastic cup filled with ice and about two teaspoons of liquid. It was a sub-economy experience. I'll never fly United again. I could go on and describe the food but it was indescribable. I can't imagine the review you would do with my experience.
Well, that would be an American airline. Thanks for the honest and fun review. Though I really wish that I could have a flight attendant like the one you described! SHE sounded just right!
Predeparture drinks are only if time allows...so if catering is late or another reason passengers are not told about they are not. I was a AA crew member back in 2000.
Very informative thanx Dan. đ€
I recently flew SĂŁo Paulo - Miami on AA biz class and felt it was pretty good. I like the single window seats (I was traveling alone, and they are very private). I paid for the ticket and would pay again. No need to pay 5x more for a 1st class seat, especially after your marginal review...
I am surprised that there is anyone willing to spend $10K on this product. It is embarrassing soft product and even hard product doesnât compare to QR business class Qsuite.
Is business class free for people who are flying for business
@@annafrajohnpierre7053
Only if company pays for it.
AAL First might be bad but your transitions and animations have definitely gotten a lot better
keep up the great work :)
Thank youuuu!
Love the videos. Would you re-organize the CZcams playlists? Right now it looks like there's a few duplicates and repeated lists/videos.
I've been on AA's so called 'first class'. It is really business class-like when compared to other airlines that have both first and business class, with the latter being the lower tier.
Yes! Love using that desk! Flagship first really starts prior to boarding tho, in order to imbibe and eventually look past some of the negatives. My last experience I got bedding but not the casper stuff, so it is also inconsistent. But I do love the swivel desk!
Back home there is a saying:
Good food, better mood.
Works the opposite too.
I'm 61 and retired but flew International Business Class 2-3 times a month, sometimes First Class. This is pathetic. I wouldn't be able to handle this.
You are flying during Covid, that is why you get the plastic cups and covered food. The drinks in 1C pre-departure are also gone during Covid as well. (I fly 1C every few days for work).
Thanks for the warning, Josh. Iâm sorry your flight was so disappointing but I appreciated your candor and fair review. Fore warned is forearmed!
It's so embarrassing that I worked for AMR Corp for nearly 20 years to have this kind of crappy service. They were the premier airline back in the day and I had some great experiences on those flights. Not today, I avoid AA with everything in my power. It all went down hill when US Air group purchased them..poor poor poor.
Iâm cabin crew for this airline. I had no idea that is how much customers spend on those flights.. if you knew how much we get paid you will be shocked.. not sure whoâs pocket all this money goes to but it sure isnât coming into the hard working cabin crews pockets that most likely has a second job just to get by. Sad.
That round port is Panasonic eXport, an attempt for "plug any mobile device into the display" before USB just steam rolled it. You could buy adapter cables for common devices, but it never really caught on.
That stewardess sounds like the only redeeming part of that flight âïž
I came to comment the same thing đ
We don't call them that anymore sweetie......
I love your reviews. One thing you might want to consider. Refer to yourself as âWeâ when you travel with Oscar. I think itâs wonderful that you travel together.
Right, think âWeâ want to hear you say that Dan. Not being nosey but you show Oscar all the time and the viewers clearly see you and him traveling together. Just echoing Simon. Good Job Dan.
@@JeanClaudeCOCO completely agree with you :) thank you
As someone who has been on that exact route, I can say that Heathrow is always like that.
I flew in 2019 pre-pandemic. The food and service was amazing.
Iâve never flown first class on AA. Couple times I chose CX First Class to HKG instead of AA. One time I flown LAX to NRT on AA, they told me they ran out of business class meal, they will serve me first class meal. What a disappointment. Since then Business class only on AA for me.
Yess AA hospitality is below the expectations, catering is embarrassing.
That reenactment of when you left The toilet was hilarious.
