Players for the past two months: Can we get a banlist to fix this shitty tier 0 meta?
Konami: Ehhhh, maybe in another month or two. Until then, fuck you, pay me
It lets them potentially emergency ban problem cards. Cards like Knightmare Goblin, Gumblar, and Linkross lasted a single format so it’s not entirely out of the question. It’s also awkward timing. If you gut Snake Eye right before NAWCQ/EUWCQ qualifiers then you more or less invalidate everyone’s deck building and testing leading into some of the biggest events of the year. Dropping a ban list before INFO also prevents them from really preemptively hitting the Fiendsmith engine since that’d hurt sales. I’d much rather have a later list that properly addresses SE and some of the more problematic applications of the Fiendsmith engine than a list that comes out earlier and doesn’t really do anything because they had to keep an upcoming set release in mind.
Konami: We're going to fight back against the overabundance of negativity from our player base. By abusing CZcams's copyright system to wipe people off of the platform starting with the one we blacklisted a while ago. Please understand.

Honestly Banning Original would be my ideal world. Sever Snake eyes from Diabellstar and as much as that sucks lorewise it would at least let Diabelle exist as a cool advantage engine with control capability @williamfalls
@@IC-23 this is a really bad hit because you just play the full Fiendsmiths package and keep the same ratio of starters/extenders. There is a reason Snakes did nothing before Phantom Nightmare and that reason is Poplar. Unless it or Flam get the axe, the deck will be tier 1. Banning Oak, Temple or OSS without hitting anything else does absolutely nothing
Next cards to be banned are anything that counters any version of a Snake-Eyes deck

I think this ''communication thing'' is just a calculated move to show dishonest goodwill and slightly distract the playerbase from the fact the WCQ's are SCREWED competitively, as a lot of people are completely priced out of the game now with mulcharmy, fiendsmith and the like.
Dropping INFO a week before the EUWCQ and a few days before the NAWCQ is a sick *joke* and with all the rarities revealed konami is really just trying to push the boundaries of the playerbase, but of course they will take it and konami will continue to appeal to the whales that actually spend for fiendsmith before the WCQ.
Watch them drop the banlist and wont do anything

It's basically like admitting that they didn't pre-hit Beatrice so they could sell INFO but also that means INFO will facilitate an emergency banlist but they don't want to call it that.

@ Zetact_ Beatrice is fine. Promethean Princess is the problem card that gets you into full SE combo off the Fiendsmith Package while being interruption, a recursive link 3, and directly enabling the Zealantis OTK.
These WCQs are exactly what the pros wanted when they were bitching about format diversity during Unchained format.
They made their beds, now they have to lay in it.
It's karmically beautiful in a way. It's just a shame the rest of us have to suffer for it in the meantime.
The bitterness of casual players towards competetive players is hilarious. Its not about diversity, its skill expression. If its a tier 0 format with skill expression like tear 0 or zoo - great. Its diverse like TOSS or Edison where you csn prepare for mostly everything - great. When its rock paper scissors between dexks with 15 side deck cards to prepare for 10 matchups or its SD mirrors which is throwing handtraps at each other - not great for competetive players

What we know isn't getting hit: Snake-eyes and Sinful Spoil cards. Fiendsmith cards. New Maxx C. They will just hit everything around them and make some out of left field semi-limit most likely. Maybe SP Little gets a random limit.

This is their way of saying that they enjoy being lazy and they want to stick to only giving 3 lists a year.
To be honest i was expecting a weak banlist now and a format ending banlist at the end of the year (or start of 2025, like the TOSS ending one).
But now this is very similar to the OCG semi limit of SP/limit of Beatrice, aka a warning for what is coming.
This is why i believe they'll go for blood banning Beatrice and Poplar (wanted is needed for Azurune coming just after the banlist) along with Rarity Staples like Apollo and perhaps a limit to Cross out.
IP is the Dark Magician Girl of links so i believe will escape.
Appo is unfortunately a waifu for the card game. I don't see them hitting that yet. Neither poplar. It's too important for the lore. Maybe a limit. They'll probably most likely limit ash and oak as a slap on the wrist for snake eyes

The silver lining is that we won't be pointlessly waiting for a banlist for the next close to 2 months. Still, not exactly excited about this prospect so I guess more power to the people enjoying the format, I'll just tune out until then.

Princess to 0 has to be the hit. It and Beatrice are what enable Fiendsmith to be a Snake Eye starter/extender. Princess is also the only reason Snake Eye can consistently end on a link 4 with IP in the backrow and a Flamberge to bring it out. Meaning now they’re not able to access link material as easily, lose out on a pop, and the Zealantis OTK won’t work. The Fiendsmith engine still gets to stay a powerful standalone engine to give access to a 3 material Apollousa or a rank 6 without being a Snake Eye combo. Princess also isn’t eligible for this year’s mega tins so it’s an obvious ban since it wouldn’t hurt immediate product sales.
Extra deck to 7.
Finally they're starting to bring out the ban list.
Just gotten a lot better with the newer "Dragon Links" on "Enhanced Metalmorph", "Red-Eyes Black Fullmetal Dragon" and "Fuwaross".
Those three are still great.
First, and I'm just now seeing this. I wonder if some of the heavy hitters from Rarity Collection 2 will be on the list.

I:P, Skill Drain, Apo and Crossout are the ones to watch out for
@kingfatih crossout is generally only good in tier zero formats where everyone is playing the same thing. Though with most decks running 15 hand traps I think it's just a good staple and not really unhealthy for the game like decks being able to vomit out 4 mat apo while recycling i:p.
@@kingfatihCrossout is at least balanced around the fact you go -1 on the same card you're trying to stop... But the others are braindead auto-includes in any deck that wants to either link climb or floodgate.
@@sovietmudkip1 Gamma is at 1. Called by is at 1. In OCG and MD all of the 3 are (semi) limited. Seems to me no format likes handtrap counters, so considering it was also in RC2 i just its a candidate and wouldnt be surprised if it gets hit. I think we should keep Crossout at 3, bring Gamma back to 3 and Called by 2 actually.
I've been preaching for months that we would get a Fall banlist. So for me, this was on my radar. Whether or not I attend the Sac regional is on me since that's close to home for me.
Lol, Ban List season is when I start buying up recently banned stuff because people are dumping their copies and the prices tank, and of course nothing stays banned forever so the Ban List actually creates a buyers market. So with this information I can have my money ready to pick up some juicy deals that I typically couldn't afford before.
It makes sense that way Konami have a chance to look at the cards they need to replace and balance the game!

The TCG exclusive fiend fusions will definitely have an impact

@@Zetact_ tractus becomes itself 1 card combo. You can play only 1 Fiendsmith without tractus or lurrie and still get Beatrice. You can mill the Dark Barrier Statue (or any other fiend) then go into Beatrice and mill anything. You can make Irae + Caesar with them.
While these might not seem as important, they actually make Fiendsmiths much more powerful than OCG, to the point the main Tier 0 will be Fiendsmiths themselves and not a supplementary engine to Tier 0 Snakes. There is a big difference in that.

Without those generic payoffs, snake would have to set Stare for an interruption, perhaps Silvera as well, then depend on Promethean pop and n38 to carry the entire deck.
At that point, playing Madolche that can run shifter and having more in-engine disruptions would be more rewarding.
The reason Snakes (and now Fiendsmith) get those enormous pricetags is the completely generic bosses they can go to.
Without Beatrice, Apo (and even Caesar), would you run Fiendsmith in any deck just for 1 Irae Omni negate while using 4 extra deck slots?
Given how busted Fiendsmith is in about everything, it's actually a reasonable move.

Late August makes a lot more sense given the YCS in the middle of August.
This would be the fourth ever F/L list in the TCG to go into effect in August (or third if you factor in that the August 2004 lists actually went into effect on October 1 of that year).

What I hope for this banlist; All handtraps that are generic and aren't part of the Kuriboh archetype are banned, only to be errata'd later to be less generic. But my expectation; They it cards that make no sense to hit, unlimit some cards that should have been unlimited a long time ago, and they unlimit Cyber-Stein and Magical Scientist for some ungodly reason, and all 5 pieces of Exodia are at 3...

Nothing is going to change as long as people keep buying product/keep going to events.
So, just on schedule then? All we gotta do is follow the trend of the previous dates, guys, and you will not be disappointed. That is why I am confused because people are suddenly coming up with a wishlist or predictions as early as June. Like, come on, guys. Other than that, I wish Konami also states the reasoning behind the list like Duel Links and give us a considerable time rather than just 1 week. Maybe 2 to 3 weeks ahead of time.
Genuinely appreciate the communication and a time frame for the banlist. This is a step in the right direction for once

I think apollousa and baronne are fine, savage dragon ban makes sense and linkuriboh should return it was a bad hit. Baronne is whatever if banned but apollousa is a fine card imo
Baronne isn't remotely fine. The fact it's a generic Level 10 omni-negate, can pop cards, 3k body. No. Keep it banned. Apollousa has become degenerate. Turn 1 4 negate Apollousa isn't good for the game. She needs to go.
Beatrice ban coming, we got a tcg exclusive in "aerial eater" thats a balanced version of beatrice and tcg wants to see the impact of snake-eye/fiendsmith at full power before making big changes... also reprinting them before hitting them in the tins maybe? xD. They'll probably ban catapult turtle as well even tho the card isnt being played but the potential abuse is there.
And the funny detail is we still haven't got Air Eater imported into the TCG to gobble more air.
Again Master Duel is runned by the ocg so yes they are gonna communicate when they update the list.

Absolutely, Nib kills every rogue deck on its own with the negates banned.
I would rather get creative ways to play around Nibiru such as how Melodious do it instead of allowing the opponent to overextend without any consequences, guaranteeing the end board is unbreakable.
Most decks have already adapted to play into Nib, and if HERO and Salad did that then most decks can.

I understand people are frustrated with the current meta, and just how busted its going to be post INFO, but I think it makes sense for Konami to wait until after WQC to start axing cards. The WQC players are people that don't really consider price to be a determining factor for playing a deck, they are going to absolutely break the game as best as they can, so it's understandable why Konami would want to wait for the dust to settle and make a more educated banlist. Or I could be completely off the mark and they ban catapult turtle and call it a day lol.

last time we had a format like this were every deck looked the same they not only hit the engine but all the generic stuff are we finally gonna see hand traps limited because they need to be. i mean in the past they hit desires for that reason. if they hit prosperity but not a single hand trap or hit apollousa and not an i:p or s:p there will pretty much be admitting unless you play meta we don't want you here.

Apollousa's time has come. We've had like 5 or 6 years to enjoy her and 3 or 4 of them she's been fairly accessible. IP enables SP to become disgusting (circumventing her on-summon drawback and being able to basically quick effect banish something), there's precedence with Knightmare Unicorn (though no where near as bad since you still have to discard for it). Snake-Eyes needs to die though. Deck is worse than disgusting and unfun to play against.

You don’t need to stop your opponent if there are no negates
Solitaire is building as many negates as possible to stop you opponent from playing
If you opponent has no negates you can also go through your combos and if becomes an actual game of who can work towards the most powerful monster or effect

But if nobody has negates they aren’t needed
it will move to quick effect pops

I like the communication, but its only specifically saying so we can sell Info first, i dont think they wouldve done this if people werent begging for a list. Havent been locals since uk nats and probably still wont go cuz the format is just dreadful rn. Ill stick to edison. Crazy high rarities etc the msg to me is "We're going to monetise first, then drop the list, enjoy tier 0". Lazy.
