Purtis Creek State Park - Family Girl Scouts Camping Trip 2023

Destination: Purtis Creek State Park
Campsite: 32, 33 and 34, electric and water tent site
Campers: Kristina, Ryan, Lily, Bumblebee, GS troop and their families
This was such a special trip! It was the first time (of hopefully many more) that we had the opportunity to go camping with Lily's Girl Scout troop and their family! Some have camped several times, others it was their first time. But everyone left with the desire to return and do it again.
The girls did so many fun things and earned so many badges!
Some highlights: Learning and singing new campfire songs (Hermie the Worm and The Great Big Moose), playing campfire charades, making s'mores, making 'bed head' SWAPS, having a Kaper chart and taking turns cleaning, picking up and preparing dinner, going on hikes, Bumblebee becoming every ones best friend, seeing the BIGGEST raccoon ever, watching Lily share her love of all things camping with her friends, and watching them sing and dance to Taylor Swift in their tent!
Special thanks to Mickey, the park ranger, who led us on a guided hike and taught us about many important conservation projects going on within the park and lots of history.
I loved watching each girl take on a new challenge and encouraging each other and cheering each other on, I loved looking at nature through their eyes. I cannot wait to go on another trip with these girls and look forward to it!
Thank you to all parents who came along and helped and encouraged your girls to try new things and develop skills that we can hopefully continue to cultivate and grow upon each year!
