Good question. The original purpose of his car wasn't just to race me. He has a series on his channel on showing the car's suspension travel in slow motion among other things. We may take the seats out in the next race as it's pretty easy to do. Thanks for watching and check out warped perception if you want to see more on the other car. Alex

bdpa kaknox It's much easier if you keep one lane open, if you completely block a street it's about 10 times the amount of work and time as you have to redirect traffic to an alternate route, things are much different in larger cities.
I had a '98 C43 from '99-'12, putting 227K on it. 8+ second 0-60 means you're seriously down on power at the rear wheels (but you knew that). Good luck getting it closer to spec performance. Weight reduction trumps everything. Plus you need less of everything too: power, brakes, suspension. My 5.7 V8 Commander weights 2.5tons. The ND Miata 1.5 is about 985Kg. Power to weight on both is 0,132, with the Miata having a slight edge, and there's no contest about which one is the overall fastest car.

It's killing him that an AMG car is losing to an E320, but I've seen too many videos of these AMG engines blowing up and from the start he had a vacuum leak. In another video someone's AMG engine threw a rod cause of a bad seal for the oil pump system. I'm not so sure that engine is putting out 302 horsepower after all these years.
There's a video of a guy who was racing his AMG and threw a rod cause of a dried up oring seal for the oil pickup in his engine. Then he got another engine that was fine but tore that apart to find the same problem, just not as bad as his was. It's a E55 not a C43 but still. czcams.com/video/lUAB7lKoIt0/video.html
"Simplify and add lightness" The motto of racing driver and fast car Yoda, Colin Chapman. He founded Lotus, so he knew what he was talking about, and proved that underpowered light cars will beat overpowered heavy cars every time.
The see through merc is quicker off the line because both cars have similar grip, but alot less weight in the see through. Force =mass X acceleration. Force is engine power turning the wheels and gripping the road surface. In 1st and second gears, full power in both cars will spin the wheels easily, so amount of force you can put onto the road, and the amount of power being used will be lower than max because grip is similar and the see through uses a higher percentage of its available power. Acceleration =force/mass. Force is similar at low speeds before wind resistance takes effect, so by far the biggest difference is just weight. Basically, the amg cannot use all its power at slow speed, and the other car can use a similar amount.
Justin Bozeman I'm pretty sure they are aware of everything you just said. I personally think that you my friend are not aware of the purpose of these videos.
I'm sure it's possible but there is a lot more to it then just bolting the blower on. Fuel system, intercooler, tuning etc. The NA 55 engine was a lot higher compression too.
Common question. Many people take the M113 out of the C55 and replace it with the M113K. It drops right in. I’ve seen people do it for $6k including the cost of the M113K. Cooling and traction become an issue and reliability isn’t as great. The C55 is the Camry of AMG cars and swapping in the M113K defeats that purpose for most. It’s better just to buy an E55 for the weekend and a C55 daily. I love my C55 as a daily.
You won the second and third race. If a car or it's driver is not able to change into second gear, that's not a great race car/driver. Can you imagine Usain Bolt losing a race and saying: "Nah bruh I honestly won because, you know, I didn't move my legs fast enough because I had a mistake, so since it was a mistake I truly won, so sorry real winner, I'll take the prize" That's ridiculous isn't it? Same with this
I had a car that I raced and I did some serious weight reduction and it really helped it go faster. It’s all about power to weight ratio. Try pulling 600 lbs out of a big block dodge and see for your self if you doubt it
This is similar to the old hot rod magazine article from the 80s called caddy hack. They took a big land yacht old Cadillac and got it to rip mid 13s without touching the engine, by cutting things off. A lot of things. Good times with hashtagweightreductionbrah
MrHillfolk I remember an article in the 90’s where they took a junkyard big block and crammed it in a tiny car and ended up running 10’s. Was funny since you could see the back half of the motor inside the car.
Could someone calculate how many pounds per horsepower each car had? Or is it better to divide torque numbers over weight? Just curious to death right now and too busy to look up specs right now.
Man that C43 in inexplicably slow. I know it was hot out but the car's Na. That burnout seemed to take about as much effort as my w202 c230k with a welded diff!
That poor poor m113 engine! Someone really trashed that C43. I find it to be so sad, and whats worse is that the car is not worth saving from a financial standpoint. Its only value now is in parts only.
I was told for 7 pounds removed was like adding 1 horsepower. After doing more research more people say it's about 10. So by that your supposed 80 horsepower advantage would be 20. And have more weight to push. But neither car was running great.
Makes sense, imagine a 3 kg, 3 hp versus 10 kg on 10 hp car, and the 3 hp car wins, you need at least a 13 hp car to match the 3/3, and 14 hp in the 10 kg car, to 'win' from the 3/3 car. The higher you go, the higher the difference has to be, though percentage wise, it will be similar with the example I gave. Weight reduction always wins from hp gain. An indication is the speed with which you go from 0-20, as opposed to the speed from 240-260, or, if you leave the throttle at 260, as opposed to leaving the throttle at 120. At 260 your speed diminishes really fast, at 120 it diminishes much slower. Gravity always wants to keep you at one spot, whilst 'allowing' you to accelerate slower rather than faster, and vice versa. Unless your car gets to weigh more than planet Earth, you don't have to worry, lol.
Turn ignition switch on hold the gas pedal down for 60 seconds it will reset the ECM for a new driving style. I had a CLK that was like that a old lady on it and it shifted real slow and sluggish.
Suggest you do some work to your engine, my c43 dose 0-60 less than 6 seconds and its stock with 160k miles. Mine needs lots of work. Im very excited to see what will you do to yours
please do a custom dual intake setup like the "needs wings" setup, and a proper exhaust system. Im sure with that hacked up exhaust system you've lost some power somewhere from the lack of back pressure. Maybe do a secondary cat delete and x pipe as well? Would be interesting to see the results with the nitro combo. These vids are fun, keep at it Alex! #benzlivesmatter
Backpressure is not making that much difference, there was a study that proved it. BMW E36 m3 (euro, 3.2) gains from a more freeflowing exhaust, dyno proven. On 2 stroke engines it does have a huge impact
Sasa J that may be true in the instance for that m3, but from my own personal experience on an m113 v8 mercedes, I did a muffler delete and a resonator delete affected the exhaust scavenging resulting in lack of back pressure. it was enough to lose some low end power and only gained in the top end.
tech manager backpressure and scaveging are two different things. And i think we are talking about different things... Im talking about hp and i guess you are talking torque...
Sasa J Im no expert by any means, just stating that I have experienced loss of power due to an improper exhaust setup from lack of back pressure which also affected exhaust scavenging. I was not saying that they were the same thing. Sorry for the confusion. In the matter of Alex doing modifications to the c43 with The m113 v8 NA engine, and its current exhaust setup, it comes stock with 2.5 inch pipes if im not mistaken and was designed that way for a reason. Increasing the pipes diameter will not increase power, so not saying he should do that, in fact I am almost certain he will lose power, but asking if he is going to indeed mod the c43, to do a more efficent exhaust setup. I am suggesting two high flow primary cats, secondary cat delete with x pipe and dual amg mufflers. With a dual intake setup as well, I believe he would definately increase both his hp and torque on the car, but not by much.
tech manager he needs to do some proper headwork, and then itb's on the intake side, proper exhaust and tune.. then you will make some decent power both hp and torque... but money is the limiting factor here... and you sir must have a sesitive butt if you felt the difference ;)
It was blocked off during the races, not completely closed down. It’s like during road construction when a flagger stops traffic so machinery can move for a minute and then traffic resumes.
If you are over 2 seconds slower than the real 0-60 for the C43, then it's probably not making that much more than the C320 and seeing you fix the engine to make it perform better would be more interesting than just slapping a nitrous kit on it in my opinion. And the performance increase would probably be the same if it should do just over 6 seconds to 60 stock.
Weight, air and mechnical resistants are enemies for speed. Plus lightweight and low air drag are most efficient(Low fuel, low power, low braking zone and most cornering ability). Like F1, planes and bicycles
Unsung Automobile I had a donor e55 that I swapped the heads, supercharger and harness, ecu and tcu, and I had to code multiple parts for the car to even start, luckily I had a friend that was good with Star to help me with everything. It all cost me around $2k (price of the donor car)
Not only in acceleration the lighter car have advantage... It also had better cornering, better at braking and also can conserved tires way better too...!!!
Idk I felt that last race was pretty fair and you squeaked by him. the weight and gearing gets you off the line a little but the first races it seemed he jumped (or your reaction is slow). I said 12’s in your last video with slicks and nitrous but idk now. You may be stuck in the 13’s 😘
for that 2nd and 3rd race I never got out of first gear, it goes straight into neutral as soon as it hits 4500rpm, I think the trans is bad, going to try and fix next week. you can see i was accelerating and then just hit a wall which was the end of 1st gear. oh well
I dont mean to sound rude but that is one battered C43, I think a well maintained one would perform to its factory claims. That chopped up E class is pretty cool though and to think the diesel version is even faster :0 lol. The C43 does have a wonderful engine!
Here's how I made it faster.

tech manager backpressure and scaveging are two different things.
"the road was blocked off" 2:47
Mayzho and he's racing on the soft shoulder
It was blocked off during the races, not completely closed down. It’s like during road construction when a flagger stops traffic so machinery can move for a minute and then traffic resumes.
My c43 with the motor stock and 230,000 miles went 14.2 in the 1/4 before the e55 swap so I think you you easily toast that e320 past the 1/8th mile
If your ever out by doty again lmk I live right by there and got a bolt on cam SS Camaro
Should do a rear mount like stav-techs old e55
manual vs conventional automatic in almost same power to weight ratio?
It would have been a lot worse if that newer mercedes was a E220 diesel😂😂😂
Yes! Nitrious!
I read somewhere online😂 that approx 600lbs in weight reduction = 50 more hp equivalent
Dude, please fix this AMG! I would love to see a video of the Bondo removal, and tear down.
Weight, air and mechnical resistants are enemies for speed. Plus lightweight and low air drag are most efficient(Low fuel, low power, low braking zone and most cornering ability). Like F1, planes and bicycles
80 crank horse power or 80 wheels horse power?
You should also try swapping drivers
"Closed off road" *car drives by*
I wonder if removing the bondo off the C43 will help? lol
yourtechstation It totally would. There is sooo much!
somewhere the ghost of Colin Chapman is not surprised
Add a Kleemann supercharger.
Swap a supercharger on it I did that on my 2002 e430 and it’s fast as hell and a sleeper
Benard Jenkins You put a SC on an E430? What did that run you??? I have a 210 E55 and would love a SC.
Unsung Automobile I had a donor e55 that I swapped the heads, supercharger and harness, ecu and tcu, and I had to code multiple parts for the car to even start, luckily I had a friend that was good with Star to help me with everything. It all cost me around $2k (price of the donor car)
Unsung Automobile don’t do it unless you are doing most of the work yourself save your self the headaches and just buy a 211 Amg
I have an E430 and fast enough haha I can beat a 3.6 Charger
Yeah I think a 211 is my next car. Will try to keep the 210 as it's my favorite body style E-Class.
i have a really clean 98 c43 amg bone stock and it’s fast, pretty sure my 0-60 isn’t in the 8’s 🤷♂️
Not only in acceleration the lighter car have advantage... It also had better cornering, better at braking and also can conserved tires way better too...!!!
Weight Reduction reduces Grip but increases Acceleration
Americans are just now catching on to weight reduction . europiens have been doing that since the 70s. just look at lotus.
