- In this Pokemon Sword and Shield challenge I attempt to beat Pokemon Sword playing as Hop. I do this by using Hop's latest team in battle down to even his moveset. While this challenge wasn't too difficult to beat, it was so much fun to use a variety of different Pokemon, and have a different team almost every gym.

So this video is more edit heavy that my standard Pokemon challenges and took me a long time to make. If you enjoy this style, make sure to tell me down in the comments what you think! I am trying to make content that more focuses on my personality over the challenge itself, and definitely think this is a step in the right direction, but is going to take a lot of practice to get to the quality that I want. This Rival-Boy talks sometimes about switching up his team,
so he changes out pokemon to test out how to be a Trainer -
which in itself, would be cool and smart - BUT this presents a Plot Hole, you see?
Cause he remains at 4 or 5 Pokemon...
So we literally have proof that he's stupid.
Not only is it extremly easy to fill up all your slots anyway, but
this Rival actually has more Pokemon than he uses. He has 6+, but he is not using
all slots, cause he's simply an Idiot.
We KNOW he has 6+ Pokemon, but he refuses to have them with him for no reason...

There's a whole episode where Hop's Wooloo feels bad about itself and its ability to do well on a team compared to an ace pokémon like Charizard, and after seeing the actual in-game struggle of Wooloo to contribute I feel really bad for it xD

I love how original Hop actually gets a really good ten for like, a solid 3 hours, but then immediately says, “you know what, nah, I need my Dubwool and Pincurchin back, forget this Trevanant and Heatmor, Pokemon with types I’m sorely missing.”

To be fair when you see the CZcams episode Pokémon released you can understand why he went back to dubwool.
I can understand why he would keep dubwool from an in universe perspective, it was his actual starter. And it isnt a horrible mon either if it has the fluffy ability. Still, the AI isn’t smart enough to use the mon and the devs aren’t brave enough to give it a good set of moves.
Well maybe he likes Dubwool and pincurchin?
That's the point of his arc..... he starts focusing too much on strength when he loses to Bede, but regains his older sttitude and goes back to Dubwool(his oldest partner) and other pokemon he likes
My favorite part of this game was Hop just constantly getting his a** handed to him until he gives up and becomes a researcher.

This makes me smile and sad at the same time knowing Hop could have been able to beat his Older Brother and become the next champion. We/The Protagonist may have gotten in his way, at least we're emotional support for Hop.
If he had a better grasp of his type advantages, he’d probably be able to even beat us. Too bad he didn’t do his homework.
Some of the dialogue choices you get while talking to Hop throughout the game make it so you can even destroy him verbally.
in the final battle of the post-game, Hop says small parts of a heartwarming speech each time you faint one of his Pokémon. fun story, i actually managed to defeat his zacian in shield because it knows wild charge which is a recoil move and i had way too many max revives

-Pacifist (No damaging moves)
-Knights of the Round Table (Excavalier team)
-Roguelike (If a pokemon gets knocked out, it gets released)
-Champion's Road (Beat the game as Leon)
-Baby Team (Beat the game with baby pokemon / evo 1 pokemon only)
-What is type advantage? (only with pokemons that are weak to your opopnent's)
-Smash Bros (Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Lucario, Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard, Incineroar as an extra option)
-Team Rocket is back (Use pokemons from gen 1 team rocket grunts)
-Doppelganger (Copy your opponents pokemons)
-Let's Go (Only use Pikachu and Eevee from the Let's Go Games)
-Lucky Wheel (Metronome only run)

Ok he may suck at battling, but he's a good character. He actually has development. Thats much more than other characters can say. Its a step in the right direction and knowing Gamefreak, they'll take the community's Hop hate as a hint that we don't want our rivals to have a character arc and want them to be as hollow as Hau.

Leon 2.0 will get the gmax charizard by trading with another or his other accs if he has others
Try to beat Sword using three Meowth. Specifically, a Galarian Meowth, an Alolan Meowth, and a G-Max Kantonian Meowth.
It has to be Sword specifically because all three are weak to Fighting, so Bea will probably be a nightmare.
